Mira was very surprised and unexpected, for much the same reasons Qi Yan thought. After all, Qi Yan had only been a newcomer to the Fairy Tail Guild for a year.
Such an important position as Guild Master should be filled by someone with more seniority.
And in the Fairy Tail Guild, there were only two people most likely to inherit the position of Guild Master.
One was Uncle Gildarts. Uncle Gildarts had been in the Fairy Tail Guild since he was a child, was the strongest Mage in Fairy Tail, and everyone in the Guild trusted him implicitly.
The other was Laxus. Laxus was the Master's grandson. It made sense anywhere for a son to follow in his father's footsteps, or a grandson to inherit his grandfather's position.
She never expected the Master to pass the position of Master to Qi Yan.
She was very familiar with Qi Yan, and he was indeed the best candidate for Master, but she still felt the Master's decision was somewhat hasty.

Mira blinked: "Are you still afraid of Laxus?"
She knew that while Qi Yan sometimes seemed timid, he was intrinsically fearless, bolder than anyone else in the Guild. He dared to take on S-Class Quests as soon as he joined the Guild. She had never seen anyone as audacious as Qi Yan.
"It's not that I'm afraid of Laxus, it's that I'm afraid of trouble. If Laxus finds out, he might cause a huge ruckus in the Fairy Tail Guild. The old Guild was just destroyed, and the new one isn't even finished yet. I don't want to see the new Guild destroyed too.
