Chapter 1 - Sacrifices

" Susan is a great name," said Favor as she laid her hands on her bulging belly, rubbing it with care and gentleness in her eyes. "Fav, I know what you are saying, but can we give our child a meaningful name?" said Stephen, looking at Favor's belly with pride in his eyes, though you could notice quite some eye bags underneath his eyes đź«©.

Favor and Stephen had never expected a child; to each other, they were nothing more than a fling. A person to hold onto when times got tough and let go of when your purpose was achieved. Their little prince or princess was an unexpected gift, a surprise from Heaven. Though they weren't ready, they couldn't bear to give up on the child just because they weren't together.

Their relationship never worked out as they argued over every little thing as it was such a shame that their little pride was in between them. No matter what, as long as their little pride was happy, they could live through any torture.

"How about Aria if she's a girl and Adler if he's a boy," said Yasmine as she played with her long, luscious, brown hair with her beautifully manicured finger.

She is Favor's childhood friend and, unfortunately, Stephen's newfound fiancée.

'Got to admit it, she is a hot piece of candy, but for some reason I feel more jealous than happy for her, ' thought Favor as her mind wandered into space and time, totally forgetting the occasion. "Those are brilliant names for our little prince or princess," said Stephen.

Favor had long awoken from her dazed state as she looked at the man who had completely shut her out from picking out the names of her child. He always liked to fawn over Yasmine as though afraid she would leave him at any second. It had always been like this and she knew she had no leverage to fight as she found the names pleasing.

"Yasmine, thanks a lot. Why didn't I think of that? What great names, noble is a wonderful meaning," said Favor, faking a smile as she knew that little witch was doing that on purpose. "No problem, Favor, it is my honor to help my fiancé choose the name of his unborn child," said Yasmine with a mocking gaze. It was as though her words meant "hahaha, be proud all you want no matter whether you have a child or not, Stephen is still mine."

Favor felt within her heart; there was absolutely no way she could like that bastard, so what was Yasmine being insecure about? Was she that pleased with herself for taking her discarded trash? "Gosh, some people just aren't self-aware."

Finally, the doctor arrived with the results from the ultrasound, with a face filled with joy, he announced, " You are having triplets, two boys and a girl, congratulations." My whole world came crashing down as I looked at the doctor straight in the eye, waiting for him to say it was some kind of mistake, but alas, he didn't. What would I do now? It was already going to be hard raising one kid alone, but three? Why was life so cruel to me?

I had no plans on letting Stephen take part in raising the kids; he already had a life, and I couldn't ruin it for him. What was I going to do now?

I couldn't give up on school as I was already in my final year and completing my master's in psychology had always been my dream
