Chapter 224 - The End of Deep Meditation

The strange phenomena around Oschin showed no signs of stopping for the time being, but Cowen's voice could be heard from inside the foam-metal cabin at the makeshift camp:

"Woof, woof, Sister Zhu Qing, it looks like something's happening over at Little Ao's side. You'd better go check it out right away."

Zhu Qing, who had been staying inside the cabin and hadn't been paying attention to what was happening outside, was suddenly startled by Cowen's words as he burst into the cabin. Her whole body transformed into a blurry phantom, and in the blink of an eye, she was outside.

Just then, Oschin—enveloped in a milky-white mist—guided by the image of a tiger at play in his mind, executed a pouncing motion that engaged every muscle in his body. A mighty tiger's roar, full of authority and enough to shake the mountains and forests, suddenly erupted from the white mist.

"This…" Zhu Zhuqing, who had never witnessed such a sight before, was momentarily at a loss. Fortunately, the tiger's roar from within the white mist was quite clear, instantly rousing the other trainees who were still asleep inside the house.

Believing their camp was under attack by soul beasts, the trainees moved with remarkable speed; in just three seconds, they were fully armed and outside the house. Then, their attention was drawn to the strange phenomenon created by Oschin.

Zhu Zhuqing restrained the trainees' overreaction, and Kaun briefly explained the strange phenomenon occurring with Oschin.

Perhaps because the movement that had caused Oschin to let out that tiger's roar moments ago was the final move in the tiger dance, the sound now emanating from the white mist had turned into the "yo-yo" call of a deer.

However, none of that mattered. No matter what changes were occurring with Oschin, the students were unable to explain the scene before them with the knowledge they currently possessed.

Closing his eyes slightly, Oscar activated the power of the mental link and silently sensed Oschin's physical condition. When he opened his eyes a moment later, his expression had calmed considerably. He could feel that Oschin's condition was steadily improving—which meant that this strange phenomenon was beneficial to his younger brother. That was enough.

"Everyone, I can sense that Little Oscar's current state is likely beneficial for him. Please patrol the area and make sure no external disturbances interfere with him. I'll send a message to Teacher Zhao right away and ask him to come over to check on Little Oscar."

"Don't worry—we won't let even a single fly slip by. Go ahead and message Teacher Zhao right away."

Zhao Wuji, who quickly received Oscar's notification, rushed into the makeshift camp set up by the trainees. Although Oscar had said that Oschin's current condition should be beneficial, Old Zhao simply couldn't rest easy until he saw for himself that something had suddenly gone wrong with one of his gifted trainees.

Tiptoeing up to the white mist, Zhao Wuji concentrated intently to sense the situation within it. The sound emanating from the mist had now shifted from the call of a deer to the roar of a bear, and a faint yet immense fluctuation of soul power was seeping out from within the mist.

A few seconds later, a piercing gleam flashed in Zhao Wuji's eyes. "So that's how it is. That kid really does have incredible luck."

Retreating gently back to where the trainees and Kaun had gathered, Zhao Wuji's face still bore an expression of admiration. "Don't worry, everyone. Little Ao has entered a state of deep meditation—for a Soul Master, this is a tremendous opportunity."

"A few of you who know how to cook, go back inside and prepare a meal. I remember that when this kid left, he packed quite a few ginseng rootlets and a few jade pearl chicken eggs into that soul-guided food preservation device—use them all."

This kind of deep meditation while in motion shouldn't last too long. Once it ends, he'll need a massive nutritional boost.

Oh, right—don't you still have some tiger bones? Don't worry about whether it's a waste or not—just mix the tiger bones with the ginseng doll roots and use that soul-guided pressure cooker to quickly simmer up a pot of soup.

"Everyone else, take up positions around here to keep watch. I don't want any birds, snakes, bugs, or anything like that disturbing Little Ao."

"Yes." Zhao Wuji's words completely put the trainees' minds at ease. Ma Hongjun—who, aside from Oschin, was the best cook—immediately slipped back into the house to start preparing the meal, while Zhu Zhuqing, who had already prepped some of the ingredients, followed him inside to help.

Meanwhile, Oschin—unaware of the wondrous changes taking place within him—continued to perform the Five Animal Exercises as guided by the Five Animal Diagram in his spiritual sea. After completing the Bear Exercise, which combined steadiness and strength, came the agile Monkey Exercise, followed finally by the light and swift Bird Exercise.

As the final visualization of the Bird Exercise in his mind's eye sank into the lake of mental energy, as if it had exhausted its energy, Oschin's mind slowly began to awaken from that wondrous state of complete concentration.

Externally, although Oschin's eyes were still closed, the movements that had been constantly shifting in accordance with some mysterious rhythm came to a halt after the final crisp birdcall rang out from the white mist. His entire being entered a state of concluding the practice, and the milky-white mist surrounding him was gradually dissipating.

When Oschin fully awoke from that mysterious state and opened his eyes once more, the first thing he saw was Old Zhao's huge face. Those eyes, wide as copper bells and brimming with intense curiosity, scrutinized Oschin from head to toe, causing him to plop right down onto the ground in fright.

Imagine this: you thought no one would be home the next day, so you stayed up late the night before to finish the novel you'd been eager to read. The next morning, you slept in until you woke up naturally. Just as you were comfortably stretching and opening your eyes, you saw your mom standing by the bed, staring right at you—it would scare the living daylights out of you.

Once he got a clear look at the scene before him and realized he wasn't in any strange or dangerous situation, Oschin finally managed to calm his wildly pounding heart. Still visibly shaken, he said:

"Wait, Teacher Zhao, what are you doing? I was just getting a little carried away during my morning exercises—was that really enough to scare me like that?"

"Huh? Are you sure you were just getting a little carried away during your morning exercises? I'll give you three minutes. Take that time to really tune into your body before you speak to me again."

At that moment, Oschin—sensing that his body had indeed undergone some changes—could no longer be bothered to continue bickering with Zhao Wuji. He quickly gathered his focus and began to quiet his mind and look inward.

As soon as he quieted his mind, Oschin immediately noticed something was amiss. First was his mental energy: the small lake formed by condensed mental energy within his Sea of Consciousness seemed to have expanded significantly without him noticing, and its color appeared to have grown somewhat deeper.

As he guided a handful of water from the lake of mental energy to float before his consciousness, Oschin noticed that this handful of water also seemed somewhat different.
