Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 - Should I write something new?

I'll post an extra chapter every 300 Power Stones. Good luck with that!

The man's confused expression made me want to laugh. I took his card and then said, "I'll get in touch with you later." Even though I was acting a bit "rude," the man didn't seem to mind.

He probably thought I was in a hurry.

Not long after, I arrived home.

"Mom, I'm home."

"Welcome back, Kyo. Do you want something to eat?"

"No, it's fine. You have no idea what happened today." I placed my backpack on the table and went to my mom's room, which she also used as her workspace. My mom works for a foreign company.

She handles marketing or something like that, but I've never really asked much about her job.

"What happened? Did something good happen at school today? Don't tell me you got a girlfriend?"

"You know I'm not interested in a relationship right now."

"Why not? You're so handsome, there must be lots of girls after you."

"I'm only 12 years old, you know?"

"Well, at your age I was already dating."

"Right, right. But something good did happen, look at this." I took the card out of my pocket and handed it to my mom.

"Amuse Inc?"

"That's right. A man stopped me and gave me this card. This company is pretty famous, right?"

"Yes, yes. It's smaller than Stardust Promotion, but it's still a big company." Just mentioning that company made my mom irritated. She still hasn't forgotten what happened before.

Honestly, neither have I.

"Are you going to contact him?"

"He definitely thinks I'm older than I really am because of my appearance. You'll have to come with me, right?"

"Are you serious?" My mom pouted. "I don't want to see you go through that again."

"Don't worry, I can speak now, right?"

"Alright, I'll call him later. Now go change out of your uniform and get some rest. Oh, Mr. Kuroda called me—he keeps asking about you. He said you're not replying to his emails."

"About that…"

I stopped writing Overlord at volume 16, where the story ended in my original world. Before I came to this world, the story hadn't been finished.

In other words, my version of Overlord doesn't have an ending either because I don't want to take the risk. What if I ruin the entire story? Even though my writing is Rank S, I'm still worried.

I already tried writing volume 17 before, but after reading what I wrote, I didn't think it was that good. It didn't feel like a worthy conclusion.

"You should reply to his emails. At least tell him you're having trouble writing. You are struggling, aren't you?"

"You noticed?"

"It's been a long time since I've seen you write anything. When was the last volume of Overlord released? Almost a year ago, right?"

"Yeah, about that."

"Before, you could write a new volume really fast."

"It's not that I lack the motivation to write. The problem is… I don't want to ruin the story by creating a disappointing ending. I'm thinking very carefully about how to finish it."

"Mr. Kuroda said he doesn't mind the delay. He said he can help you with some ideas for the conclusion."

Since I started publishing Overlord through Media Factory, Mr. Kuroda has never given me a single idea. To him, everything I wrote was always perfect.

So he really wants to help.

"I'll reply to his emails today."

"Do that."

I left my mom's room and took a shower. I put on comfortable clothes and lay down on my bed. I opened the Instagram app and noticed I already had some notifications, and my followers had passed 40.

My photo already had over 100 likes, and there were some comments praising my appearance.

I felt a bit embarrassed.

I smiled awkwardly and opened Twitter.

Then I made a tweet:

[I still don't know when I'll be able to finish volume 17 of Overlord, but I'll try to finish it as soon as possible! Sorry for the delay.]

The post got several likes within seconds and started receiving many replies.

'I don't feel like reading or replying to those comments.' I closed Twitter and sat in front of my computer. Now, besides the MacBook I usually use for writing, I also have a desktop computer in my room.

All the parts were top-of-the-line. Of course, bought with my own money.

This is the most expensive thing I own.

As I sat down, I looked at my closet, completely messy.

'I should spend some of my money on clothes.' Despite my good looks, I always wear the simplest clothes possible. If I wore branded clothes, I would attract even more attention.

Then people would really think I'm a celebrity.

'But honestly, I think spending thousands of yen on luxury clothes is so pointless. It's better to spend that money on food or manga.'

I smiled wryly and looked at my large, top-of-the-line drawing tablet.

This is the only thing I do to pass the time these days—drawing.

My hand slid across it, and the lines created by the pen didn't have a single flaw.

In less than ten minutes, the sketch was done.

Time passed, and I finished the drawing. As soon as I posted it on Twitter, I noticed that my previous post about volume 17 of Overlord had gone viral.

'They really like this story, don't they?'

Since I can't think of a way to finish it, should I start writing something new?

Or maybe I should try making a manga?
