Chapter 349 - Chapter 349 — Every Year on Qingming, I’ll Burn You Offering of Virgins and Supercar

Xu Mu looked at Jiang Huihui, who was glaring at him with an earnest, almost furious expression, and said calmly, "What's this? You don't believe me?"

Jiang Huihui pointed at the phone screen. "The proof's right here. Are you still going to deny it?"

"Click on my profile. Check the account info."

Xu Mu crossed his arms and gave her a faint glance.

Jiang Huihui immediately tapped it open—and froze. The account wasn't registered under Xu Mu's name, but under someone called Lin Yan.

"This… isn't your account?"

"What, do I look like someone named Lin Yan?" Xu Mu asked dryly.

"Brother, I was wrong! I shouldn't have accused you! I'll get on my knees right now!"

Jiang Huihui quickly handed back the phone and clung to his arm, shaking it pleadingly.

"Let go of me. You don't believe me, yet you still expect me to join your Marriage Tournament? Whoever you marry has nothing to do with me!"

Xu Mu pulled his arm free.

"I was wrong! There are too many people here—let's go to the car. I'll kneel in there," she said, opening the car door and sliding into the back seat. She knelt upright on the seat, her expression full of guilt.

"I'll forgive you this time," Xu Mu said, sitting in the driver's seat. "That account—I took it from someone else."

"Then you can only use it for six months," Jiang Huihui reminded him, sitting down again. "From what I know, the Hundred Ghosts Parade app requires facial verification every half year."

Xu Mu hadn't known that. So the people behind Hundred Ghosts Parade were smarter than he'd thought.

Before he could reply, his phone buzzed again — a message from Black Robe, with the meeting location.

"He wants to meet on the western outskirts of Yang City, along the highway," Xu Mu read aloud. "There's forest right next to the road — perfect for him to escape into."

"Don't worry. With me here, he won't get away," Jiang Huihui said confidently.

"Are you sure? He's ranked sixth on the Death List. You think you can handle that? The last time, that female assassin who attacked me—you let her get away."

Xu Mu recalled Yun Wu—Jiang Huihui had fought her but failed to capture her.

"That was before I reached the Mystic Art Realm! Now I'm different," Jiang Huihui said firmly. "Trust me, I can do it."

Xu Mu smiled and nodded. Even if Jiang Huihui couldn't handle Black Robe, he certainly could.

Among the Death List killers, the top three were described in detail. Their strength was on a completely different level—especially the third, who was already at the Grandmaster Realm.

Those three weren't mere assassins; they were, in truth, the controllers behind Hundred Ghosts Parade.

The rest below them weren't even worth mentioning.

Xu Mu told Jiang Huihui to lie down in the back seat while he went ahead alone to check the situation. When the time was right, she could strike.

On the way, he stopped at a supermarket and bought a document folder—he'd need to keep up appearances.

When he reached the location Black Robe had specified, Xu Mu called Jiang Huihui.

He turned on the speaker, slipped the phone into his pocket, and walked forward so she could listen in from the other end.

Carrying the folder, Xu Mu got out and followed the directions. Beneath the highway, a cave entrance was visible in the distance.

He jumped down and spotted the cave immediately.

Black Robe had said he'd be waiting inside, but Xu Mu's spiritual sense told a different story—Black Robe wasn't in the cave at all.

He was hidden behind the slope above it, holding a phone that displayed surveillance footage. Xu Mu's own image was on-screen — meaning the man had planted pinhole cameras all around.

Xu Mu smiled slightly. His sensory ability really was godlike.

Even though he knew exactly where Black Robe was, he pretended not to notice and walked into the cave.

As soon as he entered, his senses told him Black Robe was on the move.

The assassin stood up from the slope, scanned the surroundings to ensure no one else was present, then approached the cave.

"Hello there."

A man in a black robe appeared at the entrance, hands behind his back.

Xu Mu turned around and used his Divine Eye to scan him.

Name: Fu Daqiang

Role: Assassin; Undercover agent of the Immortality Research Institute; Undercover agent of the Heavenly Sword Sect

Favorability: -1

Fate Level: 2 (Max: 10)

Xu Mu was startled. That was a lot of roles for one man.

An assassin — sure, that was expected for a Death List member.

But an undercover for both the Immortality Research Instituteand the Heavenly Sword Sect? Xu Mu didn't even know whose side he was really on.

"You're Black Robe?" Xu Mu asked.

"That's right. You're from the Chai family, yes?" Fu Daqiang stepped closer calmly.

"Yes. Here's the contract. Sign it, then go finish off Fang Chu and Dai Dongyang," Xu Mu said, waving the folder slightly.

"I don't sign papers. A company's useless to me," Fu Daqiang said with a smirk.

"Then why call me here?"

"I want you to use your Chai Group as collateral and take out a loan of 50 billion, then give it to me," Fu Daqiang said casually. "Otherwise, I'll send you to the afterlife."

"What?" Xu Mu feigned shock, though he was perfectly calm inside. Typical Black Robe move.

"Did I not make myself clear?" Fu Daqiang asked coldly.

"I'm the client here. You're breaking protocol, aren't you? Aren't you afraid Hundred Ghosts Parade will punish you?" Xu Mu asked mildly.

"When you're dead, who's going to report me? The officials won't even notice," Fu Daqiang sneered, pulling a dagger from beneath his robe. "Take out your phone and call the Chai family now."

"You've got it wrong," Xu Mu said, shrugging. "I'm just the middleman. The Hundred Ghosts account isn't even mine."

"I see. No wonder your voice on the call sounded off. Guess the Chai family's got some brains after all," Fu Daqiang said coldly. "In that case… you can stay here forever."

"More like you'll stay here forever!"

Just then, Jiang Huihui charged out from afar, launching an attack.

Fu Daqiang reacted instantly, pulling his dagger to counter.

Boom!

Their Qi exploded, shattering the narrow cave entrance in an instant.

Xu Mu leapt out of the collapsing earth and rubble, landing against a nearby tree.

He wanted to see whether Jiang Huihui could handle this Fu Daqiang. If not, he'd step in himself.

Swish!

Fu Daqiang gripped his dagger tightly and slashed forward — a streak of green sword energy shot straight toward Jiang Huihui.

"Petty trick!"

Jiang Huihui didn't dodge. She swung her fist directly into the attack.

Crack!

A sharp explosion echoed through the air as the sword energy shattered instantly.

Fu Daqiang's eyes widened. This woman wasn't ordinary — she might even be stronger than he was.

He thought about escaping, but then he saw Xu Mu watching from a distance.

With a leap, he lunged toward Xu Mu and pressed the dagger to his neck.

"Don't move, little beauty, or I'll kill him!" Fu Daqiang sneered.

"Help me, Huihui!" Xu Mu called out halfheartedly.

"Don't worry," Jiang Huihui said coldly, her eyes flashing. "After you die, I'll burn offerings for you every Qingming — virgins, sports cars, even a supermarket!"

And without another word, she charged straight at him.
