Chapter 422 - Chapter 422: Punishing Yun Yun

Yun Yun wasn't difficult to find. Once Liu Xi released his Spiritual Perception, nothing within Yunlan Sect could escape his notice.

Taking a single step forward, he traversed through space itself. The scenery shifted like flowing light, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared atop the rear cliff behind Yunlan Mountain.

There she stood at the edge, gazing down upon the mountains below. The wind brushed past her, lifting her long hair and silken robes. Alone beneath the boundless sky, she looked impossibly graceful—and heartbreakingly distant.

Liu Xi sighed, his patience snapping a moment later. Anger surged through his chest as he rolled up his sleeves, ready to give this stubborn woman a lesson she wouldn't forget.

Sensing footsteps behind her, Yun Yun didn't turn. Her voice, soft yet calm, drifted in the wind. "You still came."

Liu Xi's tone darkened. "What? Not happy to see me?"

Yun Yun could tell he was angry—but what could she do? Liu Xi had once saved Yunlan Sect, and his strength was now unmatched. His arrival only meant one thing: Yunlan Sect had no room left to refuse him.

Sending Nalan Yanran to face him earlier had made their intentions clear—take Yunlan Sect, but let us go.

After all, what could a Half-Step Dou Zong do against a Dou Zun? The fact Yun Yun herself hadn't attacked was already a sign of submission.

"The Yunlan Sect will be safe in your hands," Yun Yun said quietly. "But I won't—can't—watch it fade away. Leaving is the only concession I can make."

Liu Xi strode forward, his tone sharp.

"You think I'm building this force for myself? For me?! I'm a Dou Zun and an 8th Tier Alchemist. In the Central Plains, I could live as freely as I please! But chaos is brewing again. Do you remember the Protector Jie who infiltrated your sect and killed your teacher?"

Yun Yun's expression shifted instantly. She turned abruptly, eyes trembling. "He… wasn't he already dead?"

Before Yun Shan had gone astray, he was a revered elder in the Jia Ma Empire—a teacher Yun Yun respected as both mentor and father.

Liu Xi nodded. "He was, but he was only a pawn. The true hand behind him is still out there. You've heard of the Pill Tower through the recent Pill Gathering, haven't you?"

Yun Yun nodded faintly. Even though Yunlan Sect had grown isolated since the fall of its previous master, Yun Potian, they still knew of such giants as the Pill Tower.

"Then you should also know," Liu Xi continued, "that during the Pill Gathering, members of the Hall of Souls interfered—murdering alchemists, seizing Heavenly Flames—utterly lawless. Sooner or later, their reach will spread even here to the Northwest Region. When that day comes, with Yunlan Sect's current strength, you won't just fail to avenge Yun Shan—you won't even survive."

Yun Yun froze, eyes widening in disbelief. "Then… what should I do?"

Liu Xi's gaze hardened. "Unite the Jia Ma Empire. Bring every major power together into a single force. Only then can we defend ourselves—and one day, take revenge."

"And when that time comes, I want you to lead it. I'll make you the pillar of the Jia Ma Empire, Yun Yun. That way, revenge won't just be a dream."

"Me?" Yun Yun blinked, uncertain.

Liu Xi explained, "I'll act as the figurehead, but I have to travel to the Central Plains. You'll handle the day-to-day matters. Elder Jia, Hai Bodong, and Association Head Fa Ma will assist you. Don't tell me you want to give up the chance to avenge your teacher?"

Yun Yun instinctively shook her head.

Liu Xi nodded in satisfaction, his lips curving into a wicked grin. "Good. Then we're settled. But you've been far too disobedient lately, haven't you?"

Before she could react, Liu Xi stepped forward, wrapped an arm around her slim waist, and pulled her close—then, in one smooth motion, sat down and pressed her across his lap.

Smack! Smack! Smack!

The sound echoed across the cliffside.

"Ah—stop! Liu Xi! This is outside! What if someone sees—ah! Enough already!"

"Let them see," Liu Xi said calmly, landing another few strikes. "Anyone who dares interfere can try their luck. Now—do you admit your mistake?"

Yun Yun was on the verge of tears—not from pain, but from shame. Her face flushed crimson as her mind went blank.

"I… I was wrong…"

Liu Xi smirked. "And? Will you still defy me next time?"

Her composure shattered completely. The proud and elegant Yun Yun now looked every bit a flustered maiden, her fair cheeks glowing red. "I won't… I won't defy you again…"

Liu Xi nodded approvingly, giving one final firm pat before letting her go.

Freed, Yun Yun leapt up like a frightened rabbit, clutching her sore backside and glaring furiously. "Liu Xi, you bastard!"

"Hm?" Liu Xi lifted his hand again.

Yun Yun instantly wilted, lowering her head like a scolded kitten, her pouty expression irresistibly charming.

Satisfied, Liu Xi adjusted his robes, his tone returning to calm warmth. "Alright, enough. Let's get back to business. I've got something for you—consider it a gift."

Yun Yun eyed him warily. "A gift?"

Liu Xi sighed. "I hit you a few times and suddenly you think I'm a liar? You've lost all faith in me."

With an amused shake of his head, he drew a slender, ornate wooden case from his storage ring.

"Still not coming over? It's not some priceless treasure, but it suits you perfectly."

Curiosity flickered in her eyes. After a moment's hesitation, Yun Yun stepped closer, her gait slightly stiff—perhaps because of the "punishment."

Seeing her approach, Liu Xi slowly opened the case. A flash of cold light filled the air, sharp and chilling.

Inside lay an elegant longsword, its silver-blue blade gleaming with refined craftsmanship.

Yun Yun's eyes softened immediately. "It's beautiful…"

"You like it?" Liu Xi asked with a smile.

"I do."

"Then it's yours," he said, handing the case over. "Its name is Wind Chant. Not bad, right?"

Yun Yun accepted it carefully, her expression a mix of awe and shy gratitude. "Thank you… I didn't expect you really had something prepared…"

Liu Xi chuckled softly. "Did you doubt me?"

As the wind swept across the cliffside, Yun Yun's cheeks still carried traces of red—but this time, it wasn't from anger.
