The endless mountain range of medicinal herbs stretched across the horizon. It was known as the Shennong Mountain Range, located in the far southern region of the Central Plains. It was said to have been opened by the ancestors of the Yao Clan, a land of abundant natural energy and fertile soil. This paradise gave rise to countless rare herbs and beasts — a foundation that kept the Yao Clan among the peak races of the continent despite its slow decline.
From afar, Liu Xi's sharp gaze caught sight of a faint, shimmering light gate standing between the valleys. Ripples of spatial energy radiated from it, and occasionally, sounds of tearing air echoed as countless auras flew toward that gate.
"Elder Bei, let's go. We'll see what plans this Four Clan Alliance has… and what the Hun Clan is plotting," Liu Xi said calmly. His tone carried a sharper edge than usual, perfectly matching the proud, unrestrained demeanor of his disguise — that of a young Ancient Void Dragon genius.
"Yes!" Zhu Bei flicked his sleeve, a faint arrogance showing in his eyes. The Ancient Void Dragon Tribe might not be able to contend with 9-Star Dou Saints for the Ancient Jade, but who would dare look down on them? Their presence at this Medicinal Ceremony was already a favor to the Four Clan Alliance, not a plea for cooperation. A display of pride was necessary — it commanded respect.
The two moved swiftly, reaching the light gate within moments. Several cultivators from other sects and clans standing near the stone steps turned toward them, their gazes mocking.
This was the Yao Clan's sacred ground — one of the mightiest powers on the continent. Who dared approach without restraint? To storm in like this was practically provocation! As expected, the shadow of the Hun Clan loomed heavily over everyone's hearts. With the Medicinal Ceremony underway, the guards' vigilance surged.
"Who goes there!" someone barked.
Zhu Bei and Liu Xi stopped instantly. Between motion and stillness, their control was seamless. They hovered midair, expressions calm yet proud, and the pressure that subtly radiated from them sent chills down the spine of every onlooker.
Zhu Bei turned his hand, producing a glowing invitation scroll. With a flick, it shot through the air and landed before the lead guard. "Ancient Void Dragon Tribe — Zhu Bei."
Liu Xi followed coldly, "Ancient Void Dragon Tribe — Zhu Yin."
The guard unfolded the scroll, confirming the seal of the Yao Clan's official invitation. His face changed immediately. Though not groveling, his tone became noticeably respectful as he returned the scroll with both hands. "My apologies for the offense. The clan has already ordered that the esteemed guests of the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe are to enter the Yao Realm directly. Please, follow me."
"Hmm." Zhu Bei nodded curtly and strode forward, every step carrying the poise of a dragon.
Liu Xi followed closely, his current alias "Zhu Yin" exuding a youthful arrogance. Yet beneath the façade, his Spiritual Perception had already spread silently across the land. His Emperor Realm Soul blended seamlessly with heaven and earth — unless one possessed the same level of soul strength, they would never notice his probing.
And what he found made his eyes narrow. Beneath the vast mountain range lay traces of intricate formation lines. Though not a master of arrays, Liu Xi could tell that once activated, these formations would draw upon the mountain's boundless energy and medicinal essence. How that power would be used, he couldn't yet tell — but clearly, the Four Clan Alliance had made careful preparations to deal with the Hun Clan.
As he followed Zhu Bei through the light gate, murmurs rose among those nearby.
"So it's the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe — no wonder. Even the Hun Clan, rampant across the Central Plains, never dares provoke the Beast Region…"
"Both are powerhouses above Dou Saint level… terrifying. Especially that elder — his glance alone felt like being stared down by an ancient beast. My blood froze!"
"Maybe they've come to ally with the Four Clan Alliance against the Hun Clan. If so, there might finally be hope. The Central Plains has been shrouded in darkness this past year… may it end soon."
Within the Yao Clan's Yao Realm, Liu Xi's gaze swept the surroundings. As expected of one of the eight Ancient Clans, their population of powerhouses was staggering — the Dou Di bloodline truly bred strength.
A vast square spread ahead, guarded by elite soldiers in full armor. The weakest among them were Dou Zongs, while Dou Zuns were everywhere. Their faces were solemn, their eyes sharp, their killing intent tangible. This was not a ceremonial guard — it was an army forged for war.
Zhu Bei and Liu Xi's appearance immediately drew attention. Dozens of watchful eyes locked onto them, tension thickening in the air. When Zhu Bei's gaze swept across the crowd, several guards instinctively fell into defensive stances, their instincts screaming of danger. It was as if two enormous dragons loomed behind these visitors, their oppressive auras vast enough to smother the heavens.
Just as the tension peaked, a hearty laugh echoed from above.
"Hahaha! So the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe's honored guests have arrived — truly, my Yao Clan is graced today! Put down those stances! The Dragon Tribe are our distinguished guests!"
A streak of golden-red light descended, and relief swept through the gathered guards. They quickly lowered their weapons, bowing with newfound respect.
"Elder Wanhuo!"
"Elder Wanhuo!"
The figure landed on the square — an elderly man in a crimson-gold robe, his face kind though lined with age. His presence radiated heat, yet it was gentle and steady, like the warmth of the sun.
His eyes briefly locked onto Zhu Bei, and his heart trembled. The old dragon's aura was immense — even stronger than the Yao Clan Leader's. 'So this is the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe… truly terrifying. If we can win their favor, it will only benefit the clan.'
Then his gaze drifted to "Zhu Yin." The young man's proud demeanor, his seemingly modest 2-Star Dou Saint aura, and the faint draconic pressure about him all left a deep impression. A flicker of melancholy passed through Wanhuo's heart as he recalled the loss of the Yao Clan's two greatest geniuses — Yao Tian and Yao Ling — both still trapped in that fiery realm. They still lived, but no one knew how to save them.
'Damn that Hun Clan…'
Suppressing his fury, Elder Wanhuo smiled warmly and cupped his hands. "Old man Wanhuo greets you, friends. How should I address you?"
Zhu Bei stood with his hands behind his back and replied coolly, "This old one is Zhu Bei. I come on behalf of the Dragon Emperor. Whatever plans your clans may have, know this — our Dragon Emperor will not risk her people for reckless schemes."
"Haha, understood, understood!" Wanhuo laughed heartily, his joy unfeigned. Having such a powerhouse arrive was more than he'd hoped for. "Please, come with me. The Clan Leaders have been waiting."
"Very well." Zhu Bei nodded lightly.
The three figures moved toward the peak of the Medicine Mountains. Throughout the journey, Elder Wanhuo's attention remained fixed on Zhu Bei. His mind, subtly influenced by Liu Xi's Emperor Realm Soul, instinctively overlooked "Zhu Yin."
And that was precisely what Liu Xi wanted. The less attention his alias drew, the more effective it would be when the time came — the perfect hidden blade waiting for its moment to strike.
