Chapter 230 - Chapter 229: Strange Theories about Performing Talent

Walking quietly down the corridor, after a few steps, Zhou Yi once again straightened his back and puffed out his chest. No one saw him come out of Ada Wong's room, so naturally, there wouldn't be any other problems. After all, he was the Master of this house; as long as he wasn't caught red-handed, he could face all accusations and simply deny everything.

Just as he passed the doors of his two darling daughters' rooms, one of the doors suddenly opened, and a Shadow emerged. She and Zhou Yi came face to face, and this encounter startled both of them.

"Natasha, what are you doing here?" Seeing Natasha come out of Shirley's room, Zhou Yi immediately exclaimed. It seemed he hadn't expected Natasha to stay overnight at his house.

"I came to accompany Shirley. I told her I'd spend the weekend with her!" Natasha leaned against the door, arms crossed, and said to Zhou Yi. "I'm curious, why are you coming from that direction?"

"Which direction?" Zhou Yi immediately put on a bewildered, innocent expression, trying his best to convey his blamelessness. But Natasha easily saw through his facade.

"Stop pretending, your bedroom isn't over there. And I remember that seems to be that woman Ada Wong's room!"

Looking at Natasha's righteous face, as if she had caught her husband sneaking back in from outside, Zhou Yi was immediately a little confused.

"Hey, if I'm not mistaken, this should be my house. My coming from that place shouldn't have anything to do with you, should it?"

"Anything related to Shirley is related to me!" Faced with Zhou Yi's retort, Natasha replied righteously. "If you really do anything strange, I suggest you clean up your mess. I don't want to come see Shirley next time and hear her calling some strange woman 'Mom'!"

Listening to Natasha's logic, seeing Shirley call a strange woman Mom, even if she had a conflict with Ada Wong, she didn't need to express it this way. Moreover, Natasha's words made it sound as if Zhou Yi needed her permission even to get married.

"I don't think our relationship is that intimate yet. Besides, Natasha, think about what you just said. Anyone who didn't know would think you were my ex-wife!"

Seizing on this obviously misleading statement, Zhou Yi began to tease Natasha. But he quickly found that this teasing seemed to have no effect on Natasha; she wouldn't be embarrassed or agitated by it. She just said with a cold face, in an almost warning tone:

"Ex-wife? Is that how you see me? If I were your ex-wife, I guarantee your face wouldn't be so radiant right now. Also, I don't want to deal with your messes at all. All this talk was just to tell you that I hope you consider Shirley and their feelings before doing anything."

Consider Shirley and their feelings. But what feelings would Shirley and her sister have? Listening to Natasha's words, Zhou Yi suddenly felt inexplicably confused. He might not understand other people's thoughts, but he could grasp some of the thoughts of his two beloved daughters.

He hadn't casually proposed marriage to Ada Wong. Before he made that promise, he had thought a lot. This included Shirley and Airesha's wishes. If Ada Wong was the type that these two Children really disliked, he certainly wouldn't have had such thoughts. But the problem was that Ada Wong didn't displease them; in fact, to some extent, they actually liked Ada Wong.

Zhou Yi had this idea only after considering this situation. He believed that if these two daughters were to call Ada Wong their mother, while they might not be 100% in favor, they would definitely not be unwilling. And this meant that Natasha's words simply didn't hold water.

Using Shirley's name, Natasha actually expressed such clear dissatisfaction with Zhou Yi's actions. To be honest, this behavior completely baffled Zhou Yi. He didn't know what Natasha really wanted to express. Was she genuinely concerned for Shirley, or was she simply trying to spite Ada Wong? Or did she have some other idea?

Looking at Natasha, whose expression was obscure and hard to understand, Zhou Yi had a strange feeling. He felt that although Natasha had said so much, it seemed to be completely different from what she truly wanted to express. It was like acting; you needed to dig deeper to understand the true meaning. "Natasha, you haven't fallen for me, have you!"

A surprised expression began to appear on Zhou Yi's face, and at the same time, he asked a question that clearly shouldn't have been asked. And almost immediately, he received Natasha's reply.

"Oh, damn it. What kind of nonsense are you thinking in your head? I always thought only Tony Stark had such a narcissistic ability; it seems you're not far behind him!"

Hearing this, Zhou Yi was displeased. What did she mean, 'not far behind Tony'? He was far behind a narcissist like Tony, alright! Comparing him to Tony, Zhou Yi instantly felt his life's taste drop several notches.

"Please, I was just making a guess. Is it necessary to describe me with such vicious language?"

"Very necessary, because what you said gave me goosebumps all over!" Natasha rolled her White eyes and rubbed her arms, as if something had really grown on her body.

To this, Zhou Yi could only raise his hands in surrender. He admitted that he really seemed to be wishful thinking and overestimated himself.

"Alright, alright. My fault. But do you really not think what you said leaves a lot of room for imagination?"

"I can assure you, you're definitely overthinking it!" Natasha answered decisively, and faced with Natasha's firm attitude, Zhou Yi could only admit that it was all his fault.

"Alright, alright. It seems it really is my fault. Besides, I think it's better if I leave now!"

At this point, Zhou Yi could only leave with a wry smile. Watching Zhou Yi leave, Natasha bit her lip and quietly rubbed her ear. On it, a distinctive earring was very conspicuous.

At the center of the earring was a very bright White gem. Strangely, after Natasha rubbed her earlobe, the light emitted by the bright gem seemed to dim. And as the gem's light disappeared, in one place, a group of people staring at screens let out a collective sigh.

"It seems this plan has also failed?"

"Indeed, even knowing the identities of these Superheroes, it doesn't seem easy to get secrets from them!"

"Perhaps our starting point was too high. As I said, if we can avoid provoking such monsters, we should try to avoid them. We should still focus our main energy on the Hulk!"

"Focus on the Hulk? Do you know how severe the public outcry the US Military is facing right now? The super soldier program can no longer continue."

One voice after another rang out after the sigh, and they began to discuss things that sounded very important. However, to some extent, these guys were all talking nonsense.

Director Fury sat below these people with a gloomy face, listening to the words like Superhero, Super Soldiers, public opinion, policy, etc., that came out of their mouths. He had an urge to flip the table. But he knew he didn't have that right. As long as he was the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he couldn't do that.

Because his identity, his status, and his rights came from these guys above him. Even if they looked like idiots and did things that looked even more idiotic, as long as they were called the World Security Council for one day, he couldn't do that.

So Director Fury could only forcibly suppress his dissatisfaction, while also forcing himself to sit honestly in his chair. However, no matter how honest he appeared, it didn't mean some people would let him off. The position of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director was a very powerful one, and not everyone was happy to see Director Fury in it.

"Director Fury, what are your thoughts on your Agent's failure?" After a chaotic discussion, someone immediately turned their attention to him. "Thoughts? What thoughts could I have? Mission failure is a very normal thing. Officer, you should know that no one in this World can complete their mission 100% of the time."

Director Fury was not some soft pushover; he was a guy who had fought his way through a hail of bullets. When he talked to people, even if he was being amiable, he could still exude a hint of gunpowder, especially since he was in a very bad mood right now.

"But, Director Fury, the Agent who went to execute this mission was your most elite Agent. Even we have heard of Black Widow's great name." Another person stood up, which seemed to indicate that there was far more than one person dissatisfied with Director Fury in the Security Council.

"So what! Even when I was an Agent, I never said any mission was 100% guaranteed to be completed." Fury continued to retort, and the guy who first stirred up trouble couldn't hold back.

"What we mean, Director Fury, is whether you should manage your Agents. I think you must have seen her appearance. Does she still look like an Agent? She's just like a stupid woman jealous everywhere. If all your subordinates are this kind of caliber, I can't find any reason for this mission to succeed."

Hearing this, Fury directly widened his only remaining eye.

"First, I need to remind you, Officer, this mission was given directly to my subordinate by you without my consent or even review. So, even if it failed, it's a very normal thing."

"Second, if you only saw a woman being jealous, then I can only tell you one thing, Officer. I think you should pay attention to your family, because you can't even tell whether a woman is acting or not."

"Third, if Officer, you think my Agents are all useless, then fine. I can give you the task of monitoring Dawn Knight. I believe your elites, Officer, should be able to give us some surprises."
