Chapter 7 - The Sleepover

After Ozpin had wrapped up the speech, the students were served meals. The food was plentiful but that was natural for teenaged Huntsmen in training. What surprised Jane was how quickly some groups seemed to form. Even not having formed teams yet she saw Cardin naturally gravitate to Sky Lark, Dove Bronzewing and Russel Thrush along with a few other boys.

Ruby stuck to Yang, Weiss was answering questions from young nobles and children of TOPS executives who wanted to form connections, Blake was sitting by herself reading a book while eating some fish dish. And she spotted a raccoon in a hat sneaking some food away from Cardin's group when they weren't looking and scurrying back to Yuzuha and Kamato Manato.

She also observed Pyrrha avoiding most people, preferring to wear a hood to remain incognito. Nora was with Ren and finally, the ever clueless Jaune Arc was stumbling by, looking for a seat.

"Miss Doe." A stern but not unkind voice called out, snapping Jane out of her observation.

Seeing the tall, buxom blonde approach with an unreadable expression, Jane prepared to hear a lecture. Instead, she got..

"Are you alright? I know we've had you help out in watching over the children but you should probably eat too." Glynda stated, a concerned expression etched on her face.

"Ah.. I seem to have become a bit too absorbed in my task." Jane replied, noting how late it had became after opening her scroll and seeing '8:20PM' on the upper right.

"You should grab a warm meal while it's still warm. Ozpin has you helping in the test tomorrow, after all." Glynda advised, her expression returning to her normal, strict one.

"Thank you~. I'll go get myself a plate then." Jane moved her back off the wall and gave Glynda a nod before walking over to the kitchen.

"Ah and Jane? I'm sorry for my earlier attitude. I heard about your job from Ozpin. You've done phenomenal work. We're lucky to have you." Glynda added with a respectful nod before walking off.

Jane blinked owlishly for a second, then let a small smile make its way to her face. Her tail lightly swayed as she acknowledged Glynda's compliment and made her way to the kitchen.

Grabbing a bowl of mac & cheese, Jane sat in the back and prepared to eat alone.

Until..

"Heeey Jane." "Uh.. Miss Jane?" The two blondes, Yang and Jaune spotted her and made themselves known to her at the same time.

Yang dragged Ruby along and Jaune was by himself but looked relieved to see Ruby. Jane raised her brow, fork partially in her mouth, carrying some deliciously thick cheese sauce and curled noodles. She raised a finger and chewed before answering the two, who seemed transfixed on her face.

"Jaune, Yang, Ruby. How can I help?" Jane asked, leaning her cheek on her hand.

"Er.. well... I uh...." Yang blanked, finding herself tongue-tied. Seeing his chance though, Jaune took the first question.

"Uh.. can you tell us about the entrance exam tomorrow? I'm a bit new at this stuff.. but I'm totally confident, yeah!" Jaune reassured, puffing up his chest in a way that made Jane chuckle.

Yang snapped out of it the moment she heard Jane's laugh. Seeing the blond guy who puked on her boots had the momentum, she felt a competitive flame well up from within her.

"Yeah~ Totally, I'd love to know too. Can ya give us a hint, teach?" Yang folded her arms under her admittedly impressive bust and raised them while leaning down.

To Jane, it couldn't be any more obvious what she was doing by trying to look more appealing. She was a master at flustering others. And this? Yang may have had some rudimentary experience flustering teenage boys but it'd take far more to do anything to a veteran like her.

"Ah~ You want to try and cheat hm?" Jane moved her legs and slowly folded them, letting the soft noises of her pantyhose and thigh high stocking fill their ears before she perched her elbow on her knee and cupped her chin, letting her finger slide along the length of her perfect jaw while giving the two blushing blondes a wry smirk.

"Oh my Gods..." Jaune muttered as he looked away to hide his flushed face.

Yang held her tongue but silently agreed with the guy. It was more than the absurdly sexy smirk she gave them, it was the way her open jacket gave them a little view of her cleavage when she leaned forward, the emphasis of her thick thighs as she folded her legs, the way her shorts clung to her wide hips and narrow waist. Yang felt utterly outmatched, yet in a way that didn't make her feel competitive. What Jane was doing was probably impossible for her, so she just took in the view.

Then, Jane snorted.

"Hmhm~! Just kidding. Nothing states you can't ask. And nobody said I couldn't give a hint~." Jane smirked and unfolded her legs before deciding what to give a hint about.

"Tomorrow you'll have your teams decided. Combat against Grimm? Expect it. Last year, the entrance exam was held in the Hollow on the outskirts of the Emerald Forest. This time, you'll be facing Grimm but expect some to have Ether Corruption~." Jane advised, seeing Ruby suddenly get excited.

"Yes! Maybe I can grab some crystals then.." Ruby muttered to herself in anticipation.

"Trying to make your Scythe an Ether weapon are we? That takes a lot of know-how and usually.. money." Jane stated, looking somewhat impressed about Ruby's ambition.

"Oh yeah Rubes has wanting an Ether Scythe for yeaaaars. Ever since she saw Miyabi's blade." Yang added.

Jaune seemed a bit lost, so Jane explained- "Elemental attuned weapons aren't particularly rare. Using Dust on them is the norm but Dust alone doesn't make them absurdly strong or anything. But if you make the blade with tempered Ether crystals? Your blade can spew flames, freeze, electrocute and cause Ether corruption given the elemental type. Of course, there's other elements too but I have a meal to finish before it gets cold."

Jane then noted the time, using her scroll and gave them a particular look before continuing, "And you have sleep wear to change into. It's almost time to crawl into your sleeping bags, isn't it?"

Jaune sheepishy scratched the back of his head and Yang herself looked a bit guilty, having interrupted her meal.

"Sorry, Teacher! We'll let you eat in peace." Yang apologized and pulled Ruby away as Jaune muttered an apology of his own and left Jane to eat in peace.

Jane let out a soft chuckle and continued eating, noting the stare she was getting from Blake, who had already set up her sleeping bag nearby. The cat Faunus was quickly jotting something down in her notebook while looking at Jane with an awestruck expression.

'What's her deal..?' Jane wondered as she ate the remainder of her mac & cheese.

Jane quickly finished her meal in peace and prepared her own sleeping bag after changing into a comfortable camisole. Though she still kept her gloves, fur-trimmed jacket and shorts on. Seeing a comfortable place to settle by Blake, she set her bag down and as soon as she sat down, she was immediately met with familiar faces.

"Hello again, Miss Jane." This time, it was Weiss. The little Heiress seemed to have enough of dealing with people who only wanted to talk with her due to her last name.

Seeing the abundance of space by Jane, she figured it would be a great spot to settle down for the night.

"Do you mind if I settle in here-" "Heeeey, Jane." Weiss' question was interrupted by Yang, who saw her approach and decided to do the same whilst dragging Ruby behind her.

"You again"/"You again" Both Weiss and Ruby groaned, then looked offended the other said it aloud.

The two grumbled at each other before raised her hand to stop an argument before it formed.

"Does everyone want to sleep here? There's a lot of free space, so I don't mind. Do you?" Jane craned her neck, her aqua eyes looking over at Blake.

"Hm.. If they're quiet, I don't mind." Blake replied, still reading her book.

"Well then-" "Um.. do you mind if I rest here too? I'm just.. so tired of..." Before Jane could properly answer, Pyrrha had walked over, quietly asking for a spot after finally getting away from fans and people with ulterior motives.

Jane gave her a small smile and answered, putting one finger up before Weiss could try to say anything, "Of course, Miss Nikos. Regardless of background, you're all students here. Strive to treat your fellow Huntsmen-in-training with the same respect. Background and race are meaningless for now. Everyone here can settle in, as long as you're quiet."

Pyrrha smiled and silently let out a breath of relief before setting her sleeping bag. While Yang set hers next to Jane's, while Weiss and Ruby set up on opposite sides of her. Jane set her head down and heard Blake furiously writing something down in her notebook after having witnessed everything.

'I hope I'm not being used for a raunchy teacher-student fanfic, Blake..' Jane thought, despite the faint smirk on her lips.

After a few mostly innocent questions from Yang, weapon-related questions from Ruby and some rookie information gathering questions from Weiss, they all went to sleep. And all but Jane were startled awake when a loud bell rung in the auditorium, courtesy of Jane who was sipping from a mug of coffee.

"It's time to prepare, everyone~! Your locker numbers were messaged to your scrolls. They hold your equipment. Get ready and follow me outside within ten minutes! Starting..... now~" With that call, Jane's words spurred the students to quickly run over to the locker rooms to get dressed and ready for the test.

Glynda stood next to her with an eyebrow raised.

"We gave them a half hour to prepare." Seeing the amused gleam in Jane's eyes, Glynda shook her head.

"On real missions, students won't be given even this much time to prepare. Better to start them off early, right?"

Glynda nodded and folded her arms, "And you had fun startling them too."

"Well... just a little~"
