Compared to Leon's self-created R9 energy shield, the AEGIS-V Modulator blueprint was a big defensive upgrade in his repertoire.
Taking its name from the mythological shield of Zeus and Athena who were apparently famous mythical characters from the era before Genesis, the AEGIS-V is a multi-phasic energy array that projects a shimmering, translucent barrier around the user. But it was different from most energy shields.
Unlike the R9 energy shield, the AEGIS-V can also be used on small aircrafts!
And unlike standard 'bubble' shields like the R9 that simply tank hits until they break, the AEGIS-V uses a modulator core to constantly adjust its frequency to match incoming fire.
Visually, it appears as a faint, honeycombed aura that flares into bright, localized geometric plates at the point of impact.
