Liam stayed slumped on the couch for a few seconds, mentally debating whether to laugh or curse at his luck. Eventually, curiosity won out.
'Alright,' he thought, rubbing his palms together. 'Let's see what this boutique-tier set of powers can actually do.'
He turned his attention to his reflection in the glass window as he tried the colour shift ability.
He focused on his hair, picturing it darker, black fading into deep silver at the tips. In an instant, the color shifted, smooth and natural as if he'd spent hours at a salon. He blinked. Then imagined it blond. Then dark brown. Then bright red, just to test it.
"Yeah," he said with a sigh, "definitely idol material."
But curiosity was stronger than shame.
He looked down at his outfit, plain jeans and a dark T-shirt, and decided to test Outfit Swap next.
The result was unexpected.
His current clothes fell straight to the floor, as a new outfit instantly appeared in their place. It was a black hoodie, dark cargo pants, and a pair of clean sneakers, just as he had imagined.
He thought of something else, a white shirt, jeans, and a jacket, and before he could blink, the current outfit dissolved and reformed into the new one. The transition was instant, seamless, and absolutely silent.
But like before the clothes didn't fall to the floor and instantly changed into new one. Maybe because the earlier clothes were the one he had borrowed from Steve and not materialised by his own ability.
Liam stared down at himself, tugging at the new sleeve.
"Huh. Comfortable," he admitted.
He spent the next ten minutes experimenting, switching between outfits, mixing hair colors and as for the upgraded flying ability and the clean hold ability he couldn't try them out for now.
By the time he was done, he leaned back into the couch again, exhaling through his nose.
Then his mind drifted toward the still-glowing Blue Wheel panel, in his mind.
He had twelve spins left and he was going to use them all.
Liam straightened slightly, rolling his neck once as he focused on the Blue Wheel again.
He willed the wheel to turn.
Light flared behind his eyes as the symbols blurred, slowed, and finally clicked into place.
The first result appeared.
A soft pop echoed in the room.
Before he could react, a cold aluminum can materialized in midair and promptly dropped straight into his lap. Liam flinched on instinct, hands snapping down to catch it before it rolled onto the floor.
He stared at the label.
A perfectly normal can of soda.
"…You've got to be kidding me."
A panel blinked into existence in his mind, explaining the item in detail.
---
Item Acquired: Carbonated Beverage (Common)
Description:
A standard can of soda. Cold, sealed, and safe to consume. No special effects.
---
Liam turned the can once in his hands, checking for glow, runes, or anything remotely mystical.
Nothing. Just condensation and a faint fizzing sound.
'That's it?' he thought. 'I burn a spin and get refreshments?'
Then the implication hit him.
'…Wait. So the wheel can give items too.'
That should have been exciting.
Instead, he leaned back with a deadpan stare at the ceiling.
'My luck really has gone to hell.'
Still, he cracked the can open and took a sip. At least it was cold.
Without letting himself dwell on it, he triggered the second spin.
The wheel spun again.
This time, when it stopped, Liam barely had time to register the result before a sharp, sudden pain flared in his throat. He coughed once, hand flying to his neck as the sensation burned for a brief second.
Then it vanished.
He swallowed experimentally.
"…Huh."
A new notification settled in his vision.
---
Ability Acquired: Perfect Vocal Control
Level: Max
Description:
Grants the user a naturally refined singing voice with perfect pitch, breath control, and tonal balance.
The voice adapts automatically to any vocal style or range the user attempts.
No amplification, no mind control, and no combat effects.
---
Liam cleared his throat again. It felt stronger. Smoother.
When he spoke, his own voice caught him off guard.
Clear. Rich. Effortless.
"Oh," he said slowly.
He hummed a short tune without thinking.
The sound that came out was… genuinely good.
He stopped, blinking.
"…Great," he muttered. "Now I'm combat-capable and karaoke-ready."
Useful? Maybe. Situationally.
Deadly? Not unless he planned to sing HYDRA to death.
He sighed and activated the wheel again.
Third spin.
Another panel opened explaining the ability he had acquired.
---
Blue Wheel Function Unlocked: Inventory
Slots Available: 10 / 10
Description:
•Provides access to a personal extradimensional storage space.
•Each slot can store one item regardless of size or weight.
•Only items obtained directly from the Blue Wheel can be stored.
•Non-system items cannot be placed inside.
---
Liam frowned slightly and focused.
A subtle spatial pull answered him, like opening an invisible drawer and it felt so casual, as if he was doing this his whole life. He then glanced at the soda can still in his hand and willed it into his inventory.
The can vanished instantly.
His eyes widened.
With another thought, it reappeared in his palm, cold and real.
'…Okay,' he admitted quietly. 'That one's actually good.'
He skimmed the restrictions again. Ten slots. One item per slot. No loopholes for outside gear.
Limited. Restrictive.
Still incredibly useful.
Liam leaned back into the couch, staring at the ceiling, counting silently.
Nine spins left.
His luck might be questionable, borderline insulting even, but he was already committed.
He exhaled slowly and focused on the wheel once more.
'Alright,' he muttered. 'Show me what other nonsense you've got lined up.'
Liam let out a slow, steady breath and focused on the faint blue glow hovering at the edge of his perception.
Spin again.
The wheel obeyed.
Seventh spin.
The wheel barely slowed before clicking to a stop.
A small rectangular box appeared in his inventory this time.
As he was about to take it out of inventory, a panel opened explaining the item's details.
---
Item Acquired: Personal Massager (Common)
Description:
A commercially available handheld personal massager.
Multiple vibration settings. Rechargeable.
No special effects.
---
"…I'm not even going to ask."
He dismissed the panel without another glance and forced his attention back to the wheel.
Again.
Eighth spin.
A tall, elegant bottle materialized in his inventory.
---
Item Acquired: Romanée-Conti Grand Cru (1945)
Description:
One of the most valuable and rare wines in the world.
Perfectly preserved. Authentic.
No enhancement effects. High monetary value.
---
Liam blinked and moved on to the next spin.
This one hit differently.
A sharp pressure filled his lungs for half a second, followed by a strange cooling sensation spreading through his chest and throat.
He inhaled.
Then inhaled again.
A panel opened.
---
Ability Acquired: Underwater Respiration
Level: Max
Description:
Allows the user to breathe freely underwater indefinitely.
Oxygen is extracted directly from surrounding water.
No effect outside aquatic environments.
---
'…That's actually useful,' Liam admitted.
'Very niche. But useful.' Thankfully he didn't grow out gills or anything and his body stayed the same.
He had no idea how his lungs were now capable of pulling oxygen from water, and frankly, he didn't want to know. If the Blue Wheel wanted to rewrite biology quietly and without making changes to his body, he was more than happy to let it.
His attention went back to the wheel again. The wheel didn't have any option to do multiple spins at a time, so he had to do them one by one.
'Give me something good,' Liam prayed as he went for his tenth spin.
The wheel spun again finally stopping after a few seconds as the name of the ability and it's description appeared in his mind.
--
Ability Name: Obedient Hardwood
Description:
Grants brutal, instinct-level command over arousal. The user can force hardness, hold it relentlessly, or kill it instantly by sheer will with no pain, no loss of sensation, no side effects. The body obeys without hesitation, desire locked under absolute control.
--
Liam froze.
He stared at the panel in silence, read it once, then read it again, slower this time, as if the words might rearrange themselves into something more respectable if given enough time.
They didn't.
On one hand, it was absurd. Of all the things the Blue Wheel could have handed him, combat instincts, survival hacks, something that wouldn't get him laughed out of a briefing, this was what had cost him a spin.
On the other hand…
'My Future girlfriend would probably call this a blessing,' he thought.
The thought made him grimace and snort at the same time. Useful in a very specific, very private way. Completely useless in every scenario where people were shooting at him.
He dismissed the panel, rubbing his face once before refocusing.
Four spins left.
The wheel turned again.
A soft thump landed in his inventory, followed immediately by a panel he already suspected he wouldn't like.
---
Item Acquired: Anal Plug (Common)
Description:
A commercially manufactured personal item. Silicone, hygienic, reusable.
No enhancement effects.
---
Liam firmly dismissed it so fast it might as well not have existed.
Next spin.
---
Item Acquired: Condom (Common)
Description:
A standard protective contraceptive. Individually sealed.
No enhancement effects.
---
Liam stared blankly ahead.
'So the wheel is horny and responsible,' he thought dryly. 'Fantastic combination.'
He didn't even sigh this time. Just spun again.
As the wheel stopped spinning, a scroll appeared in his inventory, its surface etched with dense, unfamiliar script. It felt heavy in a way that had nothing to do with weight.
---
Item Acquired: Eight Gates Release Scroll (Forbidden Technique Item)
Description:
Contains the complete taijutsu knowledge of the Eight Inner Gates.
Allows the user to learn the method of forcibly releasing the body's natural limiters, massively increasing physical power and speed at extreme risk to the body.
Mastery depends entirely on training, discipline, and survivability.
---
Liam straightened as he finally obtained something useful but he didn't remove it from the inventory just yet as he had one more spin left.
He quickly used the remaining plot points to spin the wheel again.
The wheel spun and then slowed more deliberately this time, the symbols glowing a deeper blue before locking into an ability.
---
Ability Acquired: Genetic Sovereignty
Level: Max
Description:
The user's DNA, biological data, and power signatures are uniquely bound to their existence.
Cloning, genetic replication, ability copying, or power mimicry will automatically fail.
No technology, magic, or cosmic force can reproduce or inherit the user's biology or abilities.
---
Liam let out a slow breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
'Yeah,' he thought quietly. 'I really needed that.'
That single ability closed doors he never wanted opened in the first place.
The Blue Wheel faded from his mind at last. Liam stood, stretching his arms, feeling the strange mix of nonsense and inevitability settle into something solid.
Ridiculous items. Dangerous techniques. Subtle safeguards.
That was his luck.
He glanced once more at the inventory, at the scroll, at the abilities, at the sheer unpredictability of it all, then headed to the shower.
For now, he needed space to think and ro relax.
Because tomorrow, training would start.
