Chapter 448 - Conversation With Law

"After the Donquixote Family was destroyed, I also figured out some things. Unfortunately, I still don't know the exact details of what happened back then."

After listening to Law's words, a trace of sadness appeared in Sengoku's eyes, but it quickly disappeared. "I never expected that so many things would happen. He actually gave up the Marine Headquarters' mission for the sake of a child unrelated to him, and even paid with his life."

After speaking, he paused slightly, and a hint of pride and also a trace of sorrow appeared on his face, then the corners of his mouth slowly curled up.

"But that really was something he would do."

Law: "…"

Hearing Sengoku's words, Law also fell silent. Only after a while did he slowly speak.

"Yes. He was very foolish, but also very kind. Just because of the name D, he protected a stranger who originally wanted to kill him without caring about anything else."

"Maybe at the beginning it was because of the name D, but later it definitely wasn't only because of the name D. He must have already regarded you as an important family."

Sengoku smiled and shook his head. But seeing the smile at the corner of Law's mouth, he understood that this child had actually already realized it.

He sighed in relief and no longer looked at Law. Instead, he turned his head and looked at the night sky ahead, smiling as he said, "If I were still Fleet Admiral of the Marines, I would have thrown you into prison first before having a proper talk."

"Then I was really quite lucky."

"Hahaha, lucky?"

Sengoku laughed loudly, then shook his head. A trace of sorrow appeared in his eyes again.

"Back when I received the news of that child's death, I didn't sleep for ten days and ten nights. I wished I could personally capture the murderer."

He let out a heavy breath.

"Live well. Live according to your own ideas. Since it was that child's choice, I will follow his will. You also don't need to remain immersed in what happened back then. Just live freely according to your own will."

"I thought you would ask me to leave here."

"Hahaha, I would like to. But it looks like you wouldn't anyway, so I might as well forget about it."

Sengoku laughed again, then continued with a smile, "Besides, I don't want to deny the will that child paid his life for."

"That really makes me breathe a sigh of relief."

A trace of surprise flashed in Law's eyes, but a smile appeared on his face. "I also don't want to fight against the elder he respected the most."

After saying that, he turned his head directly and said calmly, "It's getting late. I should go back to sleep."

He paused slightly.

"And good night."

Sengoku: "...?!"

Hearing that, Sengoku froze for a moment. Then he looked at Law's back as he left without hesitation after saying the words, good night.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth again.

Only after Law's figure disappeared from sight did his face darken. He turned his head and shouted loudly toward the side, "How long are you two planning to keep eavesdropping?"

"Were we discovered? It's all your fault, Garp, you were spying while eating snacks!"

"Hahaha, I just couldn't help it."

Hearing Zephyr's complaint, Garp didn't care at all and continued laughing. "Such an interesting scene, how could it not be accompanied by snacks? What a pity, I should have brought some wine!"

"That's true. It really was quite interesting!"

"Look, look, what did Sengoku just say?"

Garp immediately raised his voice and, with a serious tone, seemed to transform into Sengoku from earlier. "If I were still Fleet Admiral of the Marines, I would have thrown you into prison first before having a proper talk."

"Oh, right, right, and that other sentence!"

Zephyr, beside him, was unwilling to be outdone and also revealed a smile. "Just live freely according to your own will!"

Then he continued with an exaggerated tone, "Can you imagine it? Him, Sengoku, the former Fleet Admiral of the Marines, actually saying something like that to a criminal wanted by the World Government? Telling him to live freely?"

"You two!!! That's enough!"

Looking at the two people speaking in a strange, mocking tone in front of him, Sengoku's face alternated between black and pale.

He had deliberately found a secluded place because he didn't want these two old fellows to hear him, yet he hadn't expected to be discovered anyway!

"And I'm no longer the Fleet Admiral of the Marines now."

"Alright, alright!"

Garp picked his nose and looked at Sengoku with a grin. "As long as you give me a month's worth of snacks, I'll pretend I didn't see anything. Sengoku, you wouldn't want the World Government to know that your grandson is here, right?"

Sengoku: "...?"

What nonsense was he saying?

Not only did Sengoku stare at Garp with black lines on his face, but Zephyr also looked at him, somewhat speechless.

Using something like this to threaten Sengoku, his guts were truly too big!

Was he not afraid that Sengoku would throw him into the sea?

Sure enough…

"Keep dreaming. You're actually using something like that to threaten a Marine Inspector General? I think you don't want your expenses to be reimbursed anymore. And that guy is not my grandson!"

Sengoku looked at Garp furiously, even rolling up his sleeves.

Just as Zephyr thought Sengoku would directly beat Garp up…

Sengoku, his face flushed red with anger, roared at Garp, "I'm telling you, only three days!"

"No, no. For the sake of our comradeship, I can reduce it by one day!"

"Damn it, stop dreaming! At most five days!"

"Half a month…"

"No way! I'm telling you, only one week."

Before Garp could finish speaking, Sengoku stiffened his neck and shouted loudly. "If you don't agree, then forget it. You won't get even a single day of snacks!"

"Fine then."

Garp sighed with a regretful expression, then looked at Sengoku with a face that seemed to say, "You old fellow really got a bargain!"

He waved his hand cheerfully. "I'll just treat it as giving you some face."

Hearing Garp's words, Sengoku also revealed a satisfied smile.

Watching this scene, black lines covered Zephyr's forehead. "That's it?"

But after saying that, the three of them looked at each other and burst into hearty laughter, looking at one another as if they had remembered the days when they used to argue in the Marine Headquarters.

Finally, Sengoku looked at the two people before him and let out a sigh.

"Before we knew it, so much time had already passed."

Zephyr followed up with a smile. "Yes, we've all grown old."

Likewise, Garp, still picking his nose, said, "Whatever. Don't forget the week's worth of snacks."

Zephyr and Sengoku: "You old man, do you even know how to read the atmosphere?"
