On the first day after the Golden Age caravan left, Adam created three more worker golems to work with Bob and Bab to quickly finish the rampart, ignoring the enclosure for the animals that would be built during the future expansion of the base. The irrigation canals were quickly dug during the night.
Everything had been planted by the end of the day, with Dem and Cer only having to water the fields properly and turn the bodies of the undead into bone meal to make fertilizer and feed supplements for the animals, freeing up space west of the hut for zucchini.
He then used half of his energy, as he had done the previous day, to continue improving the tree, bringing it to a height of 50 meters. The fruit grew only slightly, but it began to glow with the energy of life and nature. He sensed that with the next improvement to the tree, the fruit would be ripe and ready to be picked.
On day two, Adam continued to expand the construction team with three more golems. He put them to work on the new construction project, phase 2 of the base, a circle with a radius of 150 meters around the runic tree. The future base would have two distinct areas: the current inner square, where Adam's house, two warehouses, and the runic tree would be located, and the outer area within the circular rampart, which would be used for fields and grazing for the animals.
The lake would be used to fill the moat, then filled with earth to disappear permanently. For all the earth and stone needed for the rampart and other buildings, as well as to refill the lake, Adam planned to create a mine deep beneath the base, digging an artificial cave that, in addition to providing the stone needed for his construction projects, would serve as a discreet warehouse, hidden from view.
After setting up the construction team for their new project, he devoted himself to the tree, curious to see what the fruit would produce. This time, the tree did not grow taller, but its trunk thickened, doubling in volume and reaching 8 meters in thickness.
The fruit, however, was a complete surprise.
...
Day 3 after the caravan's departure.
A small fairy, 20 centimeters tall, flew in front of Adam's face. "Father! Look, Father, I made a lounge chair so you can rest."
"Pfff." Sighing with fatigue, Adam looked at the fairy flitting around full of energy. "Rose, once again, I am not your father."
He slowly massaged his forehead. "Damn, 21 years already, Father. This really wasn't planned."
The fairy stopped in front of Adam's face, her fists on her hips. "Yes!" she said excitedly, pointing to the giant tree behind her. "You created this world tree that gave birth to me, so you are my father."
She described a loop in the air, becoming full of energy again. "I can't wait for you to give more energy to the world tree so that my sisters can be birthed too." She sat down on Adam's head, slightly sad. "I like being with Father, but being the only fairy is a little sad."
Adam gently patted the little fairy's head. "Don't worry, Rose. I'll soon help the tree give birth to more fairies."
"Luckily, Rose is truly the best daughter in the world. A couple more kids won't hurt. If I'm going to be a father, I might as well go all out," he added to himself.
Rose immediately flew away, once again becoming a ball of excitement and energy. "An earth fairy! Poor Bob and Bab could really use some help, and then she could transform the rampart made of many stone blocks into a single block of stone fused with the ground. We would be invincible! The nasty undead would never be able to destroy our home."
He punched the air with a series of punches. "Even better, a fire fairy to burn all those ugly villains, or a lightning fair, the stinking undead hate lightning, no, even better…"
"HAHAHA!" Bursting out laughing, Adam cooled Rose's enthusiasm. "I'd love to, Rose, but for now we have no way of giving the tree fire or lightning energy. For the moment, you'll have to make do with an earth sister."
Rose stopped fighting with the air. "Hmm, no worries, Father, an earth sister is more than enough for now." Flying towards the long wooden chair, she regained her infinite energy. "Look, Father, the best lounge chair in the world, made from the wood of a world tree and woven with the energy of a fairy of life and nature."
Proud of her work, she launched into an energetic sales pitch. "Thanks to the wood from the world tree and the work of a fairy of life, this chair allows you to recover from fatigue and injuries faster than ever. Even if destroyed, it will eventually repair itself. It's the best of the best chairs.
Sighing with admiration, Adam sat down on the chair. "This really is the best lounge chair in the universe, Rose. Thank you."
...
Looking at the small 2-meter-high rampart in the distance, then at Rose sitting on the armrest of the chair with her legs dangling in the air, Adam asked her, "I have a very important job for you, Rose. Do you think you can help me?"
Rose immediately flew in front of his face, crossing her arms very seriously. "For Father, Rose can do anything. I have lots of energy too, and I want to help everyone."
"Haha!" He laughed softly and smiled at Rose. "Thank you, Rose. In that case, do you think you could grow a beautiful rose bush along the entire earthen rampart to make it more beautiful? That way, if the undead touch the rampart, they'll get impaled on the thorns and be stuck, unable to move."
She immediately did a cartwheel in the air. "YES! That's a great idea, Father. When the wall is made of stone later, it will be like a princess's castle: white stone walls with roses! It will be the most beautiful wall in the world."
Becoming a little more serious, she looked at Adam. "Don't worry, Father, I'll make the thorns super, super, super strong and sharp. The big stinkers will get stuck on them like flies in a spider's web."
She flew straight to the earthen wall. "Pink roses are needed. It will be prettier. Mmm, yes, Rose will create the most beautiful wall in the world."
Adam smiled as he watched Rose fly toward the ramparts, never stopping talking. "Come on, Adam, let's give Rose a sister. She's really giving it her all. She deserves a reward."
He got up and walked quietly towards the world tree. "An earth fairy to help poor Bob and Bab and to turn this earthen wall into stone. Earth isn't very solid. Every night, it ends up destroyed in one place. It's really annoying to repair."
He sighed slightly. "Anyway, I don't really have a choice. Rose embodies life and nature, two of my affinities. The earth fairy is another, so that leaves me with only the affinity of the soul, but according to Rose, there is no such thing as a soul fairy. I'll have to find a solution if I want fairies of the other elements."
