Sleep did not come easily.
I lay in the dark, staring at the ceiling, my body still humming with a restless energy I couldn't shake.
I had touched myself earlier.
The admission made my face burn even now, alone in the quiet of my room. But the images from the pleasure house had refused to leave me, and my body had ached with a need I couldn't ignore. It had only helped briefly.
But even after washing myself and changing into a fresh nightgown, the memory remained. And I kept thinking of Rowan.
I pressed my palms against my eyes, groaning softly.
At least Rowan wasn't in the castle tonight. I was grateful for the distance. I didn't think I could face him right now, not with these thoughts crawling through my mind.
I turned onto my side, pulling the covers up to my chin.
Sleep. I just needed to sleep.
I closed my eyes and forced my breathing to slow, counting each exhale until the tension in my body began to ease.
