"Great-Uncle, these are the gifts we bought at the department store last night—for you and Great-Aunt." Hale proudly presented the assortment of presents, especially the remote monitoring device. With nimble hands, he quickly unwrapped the box and helped Matthew put it on.
Alex and Ella flanked him on either side, enthusiastically explaining how the monitor worked. Matthew listened, a bit dazed and overwhelmed, then blinked toward Sophie for help.
Sophie, who had been watching the heartwarming scene for a while, finally couldn't hold back her laughter.
"Uncle, how does it feel to have such sweet, overwhelming affection?"
Matthew chuckled happily and lifted Hale into his arms.
"Thank you so much for the gifts—I love them all. They're really practical." He pinched Hale's chubby little palm. "How do you kids know so much about tech gadgets and all these new terms? Who taught you?"
