Chapter 260 - Chapter 261: Her True Form

In the suburbs of Tokyo, police cars were parked outside a Japanese-style manor.

Megure, along with his subordinates Takagi, Miwako, and other officers from the Metropolitan Police Department, had completely cordoned off the area.

Megure led the officers into the manor, and a sickening stench immediately assaulted their nostrils.

They frowned and quickly ran toward the largest building in the manor.

As soon as they pushed open the door and entered, several officers could not help but bend over, clutch their stomachs, and vomit.

Even the experienced Megure turned pale.

Inside the hall, hundreds of corpses lay scattered everywhere. None of the bodies were intact. There were severed limbs, broken arms, and blood and organs splattered all over the place.

Hundreds of thousands of flies buzzed around the room, and white, fat maggots crawled out from many of the severed chunks of flesh.

"Ugh... I don't think I'll be able to eat dinner tonight."

Takagi stood by the wall, bracing himself with one hand as he threw up everything he had eaten for lunch.

Miwako also looked pale. Her mouth twitched as she said, "Don't even mention dinner tonight. I probably won't be able to eat tomorrow either. Megure, can I take tomorrow off now?"

Megure forced a smile. "No, you can't. This is a busy time for us. How can I let you take leave?"

"Where are the forensic pathologists? Can they come over and examine this?"

Two forensic pathologists entered the hall. When they saw the scene, they muttered something under their breath, their expressions full of shock.

Fortunately, reporters had not seen what was here. Otherwise, the scene in this room alone would have been enough for a horror story.

Another pale-faced officer came over and said to Megure, "Inspector, we found the guest list for this gathering."

"According to the preliminary investigation, these people all have one thing in common, they are all members of the Unification Church."

"The manor is registered under the name of a certain company executive, but the actual right to use it is in the hands of the Unification Church."

Megure frowned. "The Unification Church?"

Megure also knew about this notorious religious organization.

Even the former Prime Minister's death was related to this cult.

However, the Unification Church had a great deal of political influence within Japan, so the matter had also been suppressed.

On the surface, government departments said they would ban this cult, but in reality, the authorities did nothing.

If the authorities really wanted to ban this cult, the first thing they should have done was send the police to arrest the leaders of the Unification Church and investigate their illegal activities.

But the authorities only talked about it and took no action, which showed that it was just a way for the higher-ups to fool the public.

Megure was full of a sense of justice and was deeply disgusted by organizations like this cult.

Although the various religious cults in Japan were not as extreme as those in South Korea, there were still quite a few. For example, the famous actress Ishihara was a member of a certain cult, and those were only the ones the public knew about.

Hearing that everyone who died here belonged to the Unification Church, Megure inwardly felt they deserved it.

But as a police officer, his duty was to catch criminals, so he carried out the investigation conscientiously.

At that moment, Miwako said, "Over the past two days, there have been multiple assassinations of company executives and government officials. There was even someone bold enough to fly a helicopter and kill people in downtown Tokyo."

Megure said, "That matter is not under our jurisdiction. It has already been handed over to the Self-Defense Forces, but it seems they still haven't investigated the true identity of the perpetrator, let alone caught them."

"Those Self-Defense Forces people are really useless," Sato complained.

Megure added, "However, according to the investigation results, all of those dead people are related to the Unification Church. I don't know who this cult provoked to trigger such large-scale retaliation."

"But no matter what, there is a terrifying organization carrying out indiscriminate killings inside Japan. We have to find a way to catch them."

Miwako nodded vigorously.

Just then, Megure noticed that something was wrong. He looked down and saw a child standing next to him.

"Conan, what are you doing here?"

Conan, having been discovered, scratched his head and gave a childish chuckle. "I was out playing with my friends and saw there was a case here, so I came to take a look."

Megure's face changed. Imitating Kogoro, he grabbed Conan by the back of the collar and threw him out. "This is no place for a child. Hurry up and get out."

Even he, an old detective, had felt a chill in his heart after seeing the gruesome scene in the hall, let alone a child.

Megure also complained inwardly that his subordinates were too slow. They had actually let a child run into a place like this.

Conan's face also looked terrible at that moment. No matter how much of a high school detective he was, he had never seen a slaughter scene like a butcherhouse.

The dead were not pigs, cattle, or sheep, but living people.

Conan had originally been out playing with Genta, Mitsuhiko, and the others today.

After seeing the police seal off the manor, Conan thought a murder had happened here and wanted to solve the case, but he had not expected to witness such a horrifying scene.

"It's a good thing I left Mitsuhiko and the others outside, otherwise this really would have been lifelong trauma."

Conan muttered to himself, and while a police officer was not paying attention, he stuck a bug onto the officer's trouser leg.

Escorted out of the manor by the police, Conan pressed the button on his glasses and began to eavesdrop.

Although a case like this did not require a detective like him, he still wanted to know what had happened.

"What did you find in the surveillance footage?"

"The surveillance captured the crime scene."

"Oh? Who did it? They're complete lunatics."

"We didn't get a clear shot of their faces. We only know that the two people were dressed in black. One was tall and thin, the other was burly. They were inside firing machine guns."

"Only two people?"

"..."

Hearing the police officers' conversation through the bug, Conan's expression suddenly changed.

Black clothes, one tall and thin, the other burly, he immediately thought of Gin and Vodka.

Moreover, Conan believed it had to have been those two.

"Why would the Black Organization attack the Unification Church? Is there some conflict of interest between the two organizations?"

"Maybe I should start investigating the Unification Church and try to find the Black Organization!"

Conan's spirits rose sharply.

However, when he thought about what Megure had said earlier, that hundreds of assassinations had suddenly taken place across Japan, Conan grew even more alarmed.

The Black Organization was far more terrifying than he had imagined.

To be able to dispatch hundreds of assassins, possibly even hundreds at the same time, in a relatively safe country was simply horrifying.

...

On Japan's coastline, Gin and Vodka were leaving by boat.

Vodka asked in confusion, "Brother, why are we running away?"

Gin stood by the boat's window and said coldly, "It's true that the Japanese police are useless, and the Self-Defense Forces are even more useless, but what we did this time will definitely cause a stir at the top."

"If they really set their sights on us, even the US forces stationed in Japan might be deployed. The two of us definitely won't be able to get away."

"Why do you think Martini gave this task to us? Was it because he couldn't handle those hundred-plus unarmed Unification Church members by himself?"

"He simply handed us the most troublesome task, turning us into rats being hunted by the whole country of Japan."

"Let's leave first and lie low for a while. We'll come back after things calm down."

Vodka suddenly understood and cursed, "That Martini really has bad intentions. Now that the Organization's focus is on Japan, if he makes the two of us leave, doesn't that mean he wants to take all the credit for himself?"

Gin said indifferently, "We also have more important work to do. Vermouth has already found out that the system we need is in Japan's Pacific Buoy."

"This time, we need to come up with a plan to seize that system. This is the Organization's most important task lately, and the submarine that has been cruising in the Pacific Ocean should also be put to use."

Vodka grew excited. "Great, Brother, we finally have something to do again."

Gin glanced at him and said nothing more.

This Vodka was capable enough and loyal enough. The only problem was that he was not very smart.

Fortunately, Gin could serve as his external brain. Vodka just needed to obediently listen to him.

...

At the same time, in a high-end hotel in Tokyo.

Toru sat in the living room of the hotel suite and said to Mary, who was in front of him, "I'm ready. You must have investigated the details too, right?"

"If you have all the information, then we can leave now."

Mary coughed twice, covering her mouth. She picked up the capsule in her hand, then took a set of women's clothes and said to Toru, "Wait for me."

With that, she walked into the adjacent bedroom. Soon after, Toru and Masumi, who were in the living room, heard Mary's pained voice coming from inside.
