"You are the son of god?" asked Saladis.
Lexel shrugged, his expression remaining remarkably casual despite the question. After everything that had happened, being identified as the son of a god didn't seem to bother him nearly as much as it should have.
"Well, godlike is perhaps a better frame? But you get the idea."
For a moment, Saladis remained silent.
Then a chuckle escaped him.
It began softly, almost like he was simply amused by the answer. But the chuckle quickly grew into a laugh, deep and resonant, echoing across the endless graveyard until even the surrounding tombstones seemed to carry it.
Saladis laughed.
Then he laughed harder, his shoulders shaking beneath the purple armor as the sound grew into full-blown laughter.
Lexel simply watched him.
Behind him, Layla and the others could only stare, none of them entirely sure whether the laughter was a good sign.
"Let's have each other's throat then!"
Saladis' killing intent suddenly erupted.
