"What are you saying?" Summer's surprise only grew. "Your real mommy?"
She forced a small, awkward smile, assuming Gideon must have said it just to comfort the child.
"My dear…" she said softly, cupping his cheek. "You are such a lovable boy. Anyone would want to be your mommy."
She pulled him into another hug.
"But Daddy said you are my mommy—the real one," Noel insisted. "We got separated when I was a baby."
Her smile faded instantly. She pulled back to look at him, her heart starting to race as a thought crept into her mind.
Could Noel really be her long-lost son? The one who had been switched with Hope?
A surge of anticipation rose within her.
"What else did he tell you?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"He said some bad people took me away from you," Noel replied. "Then Danica took me. Daddy found me in the end."
Summer's hand flew to her chest as her heart tightened. Tears streamed down her face. "Where is your daddy? I need to talk to him."
