Chloe's heart pounded wildly against her ribs. She couldn't tell if it was because he was standing right in front of her, or because of the way his eyes locked onto hers, as if nothing else in the world existed.
That gaze alone was enough to make her breath falter.
William stepped closer, his presence swallowing the space between them.
"I want to be her man," he said firmly, leaving no room for doubt.
Summer stiffened instantly, her chest rising and falling as unease crept into her bones. Every instinct in her screamed danger.
"No. I refuse," she said sharply. "I won't let you get close to my sister."
William's gaze shifted to her, cold, sharp, and unyielding. "I don't need anyone's permission. I do as I please. And I get what I want."
Then, his eyes flickered back to Chloe. "But your sister is different," he added. "I want to win her, not own her."
Chloe's heart thudded even harder now, confusion flooding her mind.
Win her?
That wasn't the man she thought he was.
