Those years, she would even hide under the covers to cry, fearing to disturb the "more deserving of attention" Lucia Shaw.

In the past, she was too understanding and considerate, always yielding and living cautiously.

Vivian Sinclair took a deep breath.

"Don't ever say those words again. I won't return to the Prescott Family, nor will I ever be a bother to you."

The pains of the past won't disappear, but she no longer wishes to wallow in them.

She is no longer the child who needs to please everyone just to gain a bit of warmth.

From now on, she will be responsible only for her own life.

Lynn Shaw frowned.

"What do you mean by this?"

She stared at Vivian Sinclair, attempting to find hints of hesitancy in her expressions.

The wind outside the hall blew in intermittently, and the thin suit she wore couldn't keep the cold at bay.

The chill was not just from the weather, but from the clear consciousness deep within.

She stood upright, forcing her tears back.
