Over the past few days, Gu Baijiang had truly tasted the fickleness of human nature. Though anger simmered in his heart, he could only swallow it. He secretly resolved that once he returned to the capital, he would properly teach these people a lesson for being so snobbish.
He turned around to have Gu Kaiyuan pay the silver, only to find no one behind him. Gu Kaiyuan was standing with his back to him, murmuring something to the Gu family brothers. Afraid of further angering Guo Baoshu, Gu Baijiang could only fish the silver out of his own pocket.
Guo Baoshu waited until he paid the silver and took the room tally. Seeing no extra token of appreciation, Guo Baoshu's face darkened further. He let out a cold snort, turned on his heel, and walked straight away.
With only one room secured, Xu Huizhen shamelessly tailed Gu Baijiang through the door, leaving the rest of the Gu family to head back to the communal sleeping quarters.
