Chapter 366: 7.5 Stars of Magic Power
"What a formidable human!!"
The Fire Dragon King, Igneel, was also greatly surprised to see Acnologia injured; his own roar had no effect on the Black Dragon at all.
To think this human, Ren, had actually injured Acnologia with the magic he just released... It was simply incredible.
Crunch!
Ren stepped to the edge of the crater, the Divine Axe Rhitta resting casually on his shoulder as he looked down at the Black Dragon, Acnologia, with an arrogant expression.
"Acnologia, if you don't want to die here today, then get lost! Otherwise, this time next year will be the anniversary of your death!"
Gasp!
The mages of Fairy Tail were terrified by Ren's words. They knew he became incredibly arrogant in this form, but this was taking it too far!
The monster opposite him was the Black Dragon, Acnologia!
A few minutes ago.
Ren had firmly decided to save the Fire Dragon King, Igneel, so he no longer hesitated in his course of action. He pulled up his System interface, his eyes locking onto a specific character card in his mental registry.
[Ding! Do you wish to recycle Ichimaru Gin?]
"Confirm!"
Ichimaru Gin was a character Ren had Taken Over seven years ago during the early days of his growth. While the Soul Reaper's overall lethality was high, his raw basic stats were only on par with—or perhaps slightly higher than—Kurosaki Ichigo in his Hollowfied state.
And Kurosaki Ichigo, in that specific state, had been completely crushed by Ulquiorra's Resurrección. It was a tier of power fundamentally outclassed on this current, apocalyptic battlefield.
[Akarin's Note: Kamishini no Yari (God-Killing Spear) is the Bankai of Ichimaru Gin from Bleach. While it boasts immense speed and cutting power, its true deadly nature lies in its ability to leave a microscopic shard of the blade inside a target, which dissolves into a lethal, cellular-destroying poison when triggered.]
Ichimaru Gin's Zanpakutō was undeniably terrifying upon activating its Bankai, but its capabilities were ultimately limited by the user's physical parameters. Against Acnologia, the blade likely wouldn't even scratch his dense, magic-immune dragon scales. And if it couldn't pierce the skin, it couldn't inject its flesh-dissolving poison.
In contrast, Gojo Satoru's raw physical stats might not have been as high as Ichimaru Gin's, but his conceptual mechanics were infinitely superior. Aside from possessing a constant, impenetrable spatial defense, Gojo could use his Domain Expansion to attack a target's brain and soul directly, making his utility far greater than Gin's.
Therefore, Ichimaru Gin was prioritized for immediate recycling to clear space and consolidate power.
[Ding! Recycling successful! The host's magic power has been increased!]
[Current Magic Power: 7.5 Stars (★★★★★★★☆)]
Hum—!
Ren felt a massive amount of magic power violently surge from his previously depleted magic source. The sheer density of the Ethernano flooded his veins, revitalizing his exhausted muscles and filling his body to the brim in an instant.
"What powerful strength!"
Ren clenched his fist, feeling the heavy, surging magic power vibrating deep within his bones. An overwhelming rush of vitality washed over him; he felt as if he could obliterate a mountain with a single, casual punch.
As expected, a spontaneous increase in strength always felt intoxicatingly exhilarating.
The raw energy coursing through his veins gave him the burning urge to rush forward and engage in an all-out brawl with Acnologia.
"The feeling of leveling up is simply great!" Ren muttered, a confident smirk stretching across his face.
"Full Body Take Over: Escanor!!"
Golden light erupted from Ren's core as he flawlessly Took Over the Lion's Sin of Pride, Escanor.
This time, Ren wasn't restricted to Escanor's plain bartender attire. Instead, he materialized as a peak warrior clad in heavy, ornate golden armor, easily hefting the colossal Divine Axe Rhitta with a single hand.
Facing down the absolute nightmare that was Acnologia, Ren truly only had two viable choices in his current arsenal. The first was the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. By forcibly activating Kurama Link Mode, Ren could shroud himself in golden chakra and engage in high-speed, close-quarters combat. With his newly upgraded 7.5-Star magic power, he could easily sustain that immense chakra drain for much longer.
However, actually killing Acnologia in that state would still be incredibly difficult. The last time they clashed seven years ago, he had desperately tried attacking the Black Dragon with a highly condensed Tailed Beast Bomb.
The terrifying result? Acnologia simply unhinged his jaw and swallowed the devastating blast. The dragon was practically an omnivore when it came to supernatural energy; his absolute magic immunity meant he could consume almost any kind of elemental or conceptual power—even a foreign Tailed Beast Bomb from another dimension.
Thus, standard energy projection was completely off the table. He could only engage in brutal, close-quarters physical combat. By working together with the Fire Dragon King, Igneel, even if they couldn't outright kill Acnologia, they certainly wouldn't lose a physical brawl.
The second—and far more arrogant—option was the Lion's Sin of Pride, Escanor. Escanor was arguably the strongest human existence in The Seven Deadly Sins; among the heavy hitters in that universe, only god-like entities could even hope to suppress him at his peak.
His baseline combat power in the early morning might be far inferior to Acnologia's cataclysmic might, but the current time of day on the Tartaros battlefield was rapidly approaching high noon.
This was exactly the window when Escanor's combat power continuously and exponentially skyrocketed alongside the rising sun.
Using Escanor to beat a dragon to death through sheer physical trauma was simply the most appropriate countermeasure.
Ren fully transformed into Escanor, his muscles violently bulging against his golden armor as his internal heat and combat power rose uncontrollably. Seeing the Fire Dragon King, Igneel, locked in a dangerous struggle above, he acted decisively, stepping onto the battlefield to draw the apex predator's ire.
"Human... Ren... I never thought you would still be alive."
Acnologia looked down at Ren, his slitted reptilian eyes narrowing with recognition and malice. It was safe to say that Ren was the single human who had left the deepest impression on the arrogant Dragon King during his long, bloody life. Seven years ago, when they fought on Tenrou Island, Ren had transformed into the colossal Nine-Tailed Demon Fox and had actually managed to inflict genuine injuries upon his indestructible body.
That was a feat even those ancient, legendary dragons couldn't achieve during the Dragon King Festival. Although Ren's physical appearance had completely changed into this muscular, golden-armored man, the underlying scent of his soul remained exactly the same.
"Of course I'm still alive. You didn't think your pathetic roar could actually kill me, did you? No way! No way!" Ren laughed, his voice booming with absolute arrogance.
"Hmph! You were just hiding like a rat to survive. Now that you've foolishly dared to show your face again, then die!!"
Acnologia roared furiously, pulling his massive head back as he took a deep, vacuum-like breath. The very atmosphere seemed to warp as ambient magic power was violently sucked into his maw.
"It's the Roar—!!"
Seeing Acnologia take this familiar, apocalyptic stance immediately triggered terrifying, deeply buried memories for the Tenrou group. The mages of Fairy Tail froze, their eyes widening in absolute horror. Back then, it was this exact buildup of Acnologia's roar that had completely obliterated Tenrou Island from the face of the earth.
If the First Guild Master, Mavis Vermillion, hadn't sacrificed her ethereal form to activate the absolute defense magic, Fairy Sphere, they would have all been instantly vaporized into nothingness.
"Get out of the way—!"
Seeing Ren standing there, completely indifferent, the Fire Dragon King, Igneel, shouted a desperate warning from the sky.
Ren simply scoffed, raising the heavy golden axe in his right hand. He locked his eyes onto the descending beam of absolute destruction and swung Rhitta forcefully toward the incoming roar.
"Super Slasher—!!!"
Swish—!!
A massive, crescent-shaped slash of condensed solar heat and sheer physical kinetic force erupted from the axe blade. It violently struck Acnologia's apocalyptic roar directly in the center.
The massive, world-ending beam of draconic magic was cleanly split in two by Ren's overwhelming physical might.
Boom boom boom boom boom boom!!
The divided halves of the devastating roar swept violently past both sides of Ren's body, carving two impossibly deep, molten trenches into the bedrock as they missed him entirely.
Boom boom—!!
Finally hitting the distant mountains on the horizon, two cataclysmic explosions occurred almost simultaneously. The two towering peaks behind Ren were instantly vaporized, leaving nothing but billowing clouds of ash and scorched earth in their wake.
Shortly after the shockwave of the deflected roar passed Ren, the battered members of Fairy Tail were completely stunned, staring at his golden-armored back standing there completely unscathed.
"The roar... was..." Natsu stammered, his jaw hanging open.
"...split open!!!" Erza finished, her voice trembling in utter disbelief.
Everyone shouted in terror and awe, unable to process the logic of what they had just witnessed. That was a true Dragon's roar—specifically, the absolute strongest breath attack of the Black Dragon, Acnologia.
A roar that could easily wipe an island off the map or level an entire mountain range had been casually, effortlessly split open by a single swing of Ren's axe.
The Fire Dragon King, Igneel, was also completely dumbfounded. His massive, fearsome draconic expression turned into a comical, wide-eyed picture of sheer disbelief.
Igneel knew exactly how terrifying Acnologia's roar truly was. Even a full-fledged, ancient dragon would be instantly killed if hit head-on by that concentrated blast, which was exactly why he always chose to frantically dodge when facing Acnologia's breath attacks.
But Ren, a mere human, had actually stood his ground and physically split Acnologia's roar. This level of power was simply too exaggerated to comprehend.
"Whew! You gave me a scare!" Ren dusted off his golden armor, looking up at the dragon with a disgusted sneer. "You're really unhygienic, spitting at people like a wild beast. Luckily none of it got on me, otherwise it would be absolutely filthy."
Ren turned his burning, prideful gaze entirely onto Acnologia. "It seems you've chosen to fight instead of running away. In that case, die here!"
As Ren spoke, he stomped his foot against the cratered earth, the ground shattering under his immense strength. He leapt incredibly high into the air, raising the Divine Axe Rhitta high above his head to strike down directly at Acnologia's skull.
"Arrogant!!!"
Acnologia roared and swung a claw at Ren.
The Divine Axe Rhitta collided with Acnologia's claw.
Boom—!!
