I instantly jumped off the table and rushed toward him, but I barely took a step before the ground tilted beneath me.
My legs wobbled. And then I collapsed onto the floor with a loud thud.

I didn't know if I was dead or alive. I just knew I couldn't feel my body anymore. It felt like it wasn't even mine.

Just like that, it felt as if something heavy slammed into me. I jolted awake.
My chest hammered so hard it felt like my heart was trying to break through my ribs. Sweat streaked down my face as if someone had poured an entire drum of water over me.
I panted frantically, touching my forehead. It was burning. My eyes squeezed shut as I wiped the sweat from my face.
