Chapter 24: Back to Normal
After everything that happened with the Python Paradox, Derek finally decided to take a break.
For the next week, he stayed away from investigations, superheroes, government facilities, and anything connected to Transition.
He returned to his ordinary life as Derek Davidson.
At twenty-one years old, Derek was already a successful architect.
His work involved designing buildings, planning construction projects, helping manage construction sites, and even contributing to road construction and improvement projects.
Every day, he earned a good amount of money from his work.
Unlike his life as Transition, architecture was peaceful.
There were no supervillains.
No heroes chasing him.
No government conspiracies.
Just drawings, measurements, construction plans, and meetings.
Derek actually enjoyed it.
One afternoon, while working at a construction site, Derek noticed one of his female coworkers.
She was beautiful, and Derek decided to compliment her.
"You look really nice today."
She smiled politely.
"Thanks."
Derek continued talking to her.
"You know, maybe we should go out sometime."
She looked at him.
"Derek, shouldn't you be focusing on the road construction?"
Derek laughed.
"I can do both."
She shook her head.
"You're persistent."
Eventually, she agreed to go on a date with him.
Derek was surprisingly thoughtful.
He bought her some nice gifts and clothes, which made her happy.
Later, they went to a cinema together and spent the evening watching a movie.
For a while, Derek completely forgot about Transition.
There was no Python Paradox.
No corrupt officials.
No superheroes.
No enemies.
Just Derek living an ordinary life.
When he returned to his apartment that night, he sat down and relaxed.
He looked at his architecture plans sitting on the table.
For once, he wasn't investigating anything.
He wasn't fighting anyone.
He wasn't planning his next move.
He simply wanted to rest.
Derek smiled.
"Maybe I needed this."
For the first time in a long while, Derek Davidson was simply living his life.
