The more time Caelius spent with Soren and Elias, the more he began to notice something that had been obvious from the very beginning.
Elias had feelings for Soren.
At first, Caelius thought he was simply being overly protective. Elias was always nearby whenever Soren was around, always keeping an eye on him as though he were afraid something might happen the moment he looked away. Whenever Soren became tired, Elias would be the first to notice. Whenever Soren smiled, Elias would unconsciously smile as well.
Even the smallest changes in Soren's expression seemed to catch his attention and whenever Soren spoke to someone else for too long, Elias would quietly watch from the side.
Caelius had seen enough people fall in love to recognize the signs. What amused him, however, was how completely unaware Soren seemed to be.
Or maybe Soren genuinely didn't.
