Just as we had finished selecting our courses and were waiting for the next step, a large, translucent, bluish display popped up, from some unknown place and mentioned that there will be a test to accept the chosen courses. It also mentioned that those who fail will be allotted random choices according to availability and class size. This meant clearly that you can't choose what you want to do in this academy, if you are not the best of whatever you want to do. 'The more you study, the more you can progress' was the motto written on the screen and clearly was also the motto of our Academy.
The information, about the tests which will be conducted, on the display shock the crowd as this was the first time the admission process was changed which resulted in instantly destroying the crowds morale. Soon enough, loud, scrambled chattering started, filled with complaints and curiosity of what the test will be.
I, Sam and Angle all looked at Zoya with intense, hatred and with a hint of questioning looks.
Zoya hurriedly spoke up to defend herself while bowing and joining her hands together, begging for apology, "Guys, even I didn't know; my parents did not tell me anything about this. I am sorry, and will definitely ask them later as I can't connect with them right now."
Sam, "Guys let's just leave it. I believe her, that she would not hide such life changing things from us intentionally."
Hearing Sam's opinion, we had to reluctantly let go of the matter.
The display updated, describing the structure of the test which is going to happen, for our respective chosen subjects.
For me, the test I was assigned for scholar course, was a written test of 8 hours with 1 break of 10 min from 3 hr 55 min and 4 hr 05 min during the test.
Hearing this the students started cursing as if the world was about to end. Even thought we were prepared for a written test, this was nothing but bullshit and I heard some students complaining, "who takes a freaking 8 hour long test with just a 10 min break... To be honest that can't even be called a break..... The management should just hang themselves or just start over, by going back to school". Hearing then even I agreed, and thought to myself, 'this should even be called a written test. This should instead be classified as endurance and metal exhaustion test'. Just thinking about it, I (heir to a multisins empire had enough things to deal with already, disguised as a homeless student) personally went through mental pressure many times greater then the ones I already had; even though I was quite well versed in this area, 8 hours non-stop of writing made me sick.
For blacksmith and engineering, they had a common examination, which was 1 hr written, 2.5hr blueprint designing, and finally 1 hr combat against low level monsters such as slimes and zombies, whose power were suppressed.
The news that the monsters were of low level and on top of it were also being suppressed, bring a sense of relief.
Since 10000 years ago, these monsters suddenly appeared from things called a portal. Portal (after 1000 years of constant examination, and development in technology), since the first appearance of them, had found that these were simply teleportation warps connecting and replicating structures and monsters of these worlds. These creatures, that come out of portals, generally ranked from B to A or sometimes S rank.
There are also dungeons and towers.
Dungeons were ranked from E to A class. Whereas, towers had two types, which were, tutorial tower which is ranked from there lowest rank G to C class and could enter it as many times you wish to. And the other tower was G to SS rank, and you could only enter this tower 3 times in your life. Well you could leave the tower whenever you want, this ensured the challengers safety.
Zoya and Sam got a written test which would be of 3 hrs consisting of real world problems for commerce. For Magic, the assigned test, which was given is magic circulation and basic application plus aptitude test but as it was not always 100% accurate but only 99% everybody was given a pill to forcefully awaken magic sensitivity, which ensured that they had magic compatibility.
As Zoya had basic healing as the third course, the test was the same as for magic.
For Sam, the third course was swordsmanship, and so the test assigned to him was a simple written test, which had shocked us all. As in all other academies, the test were either magic resonance or duels or sword techniques assessment. Therefore, we were all shocked by this seemingly nonsense test yet felt, as if, a burden had been reduced as there was no difficulty in a written test. Yes, just one 20 min written test. He was so shocked, that he literally hugged me from joy and shouted, "The test…. The test, I got is a simple 20 min written test."
All of us were literally shocked and congratulated him, "Man, that's great, this means that you have practically joined the class."
Sam: "Yeah, that's why I am so excited, so to celebrate, want to go to a bar. I heard that there is one in the campus's shopping district."
Hearing this, Zoya and Angle waited for me to respond, I said white wrapping my hand around Sams' shoulder, "let's go".
A sudden count down started, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 on the translucent bluescreen Just as the count hit zero….
