Feeling an ominous energy he couldn't fully describe, Moon sent the Underground Bat a little further ahead.
The bat glided quietly through the cave tunnels, its oversized ears twitching constantly. It swept every direction for vibrations, footfalls, or subtle sounds that would betray an ambush position.
The death of Moon's subordinate had changed everything.
Whatever was in the main chamber wasn't just a large Cragbrute with no brains. Something in there could detect Curse threads. Something in there could identify a traitor in a colony. Moon wasn't going to walk his own body into an unknown ambush after being warned that clearly.
Five minutes later, the Underground Bat stopped moving forward.
They had reached a natural junction. Four paths branched off from the central chamber ahead of them, each one leading in a different direction into the mountain's interior.
Moon glanced at the bat.
