Chapter 24 The Suns Revenge and the Third Eye
The sunlight was striking the marble walls of Prakashgadh but that gleam no longer felt like reassurance It felt like a challenge as if seeing them for the last time In the courtyard of the palace Nirag and Anvay stood and both held their swords in their hands The blade of Nirag sword Shitaakshi was covered with a faint unstable blue flame while the edge of Anvay sword Dharitiraj was surrounded by a brown golden aura rising from the ground
Nirag turned to Chief Minister Krishnadas and spoke His voice was young but held a new metallic hardness Minister Uncle tell Commander Karun to prepare the army for battle Archers on the fort walls Cauldrons of oil And projectiles All should be ready Prepare for war
Chief Minister Krishnadas whose face bore the wrinkles of years of experience folded his hands and said As you command Maharaj And he quickly left the courtyard his saffron robes fluttering in the wind
Anvay looked at Nirag Nirag do not worry We will save Prakashgadh
Nirag nodded yes but his gaze was fixed on the distant border Just then a soldier with broken armor and blood splatters on his face came stumbling into the courtyard He collapsed to his knees and his breaths came out like whistles
Maharaj Maharaj He panted The soldiers of Suryagadh have breached the protective shield of the Prakashgadh border and entered the kingdom Many soldiers have been injured They are advancing very fast
Nirag and Anvay eyes met Anvay said We must go quickly
Nirag nodded and both of them came outside the palace where their horses were already saddled and standing restless They mounted the horses and raced towards the border Behind them Commander Karun also set out with his army The clatter of weapons and armor shook the air
When they reached the border the scene was terrifying The protective shield of Prakashgadh which was a dome of blue golden energy was broken at one place and through that breach black and red colored soldiers of Suryagadh were pouring in And ahead of them all standing on a golden chariot was King Ravi Tej Singh
King Ravi eyes were fixed on Nirag and the flames of years of suppressed revenge blazed within them You have come Nirag His voice thundered like the rumble before a cloudburst Today your end is certain You will have to bear the fruit of your father deeds today
Nirag was startled to see him King Ravi Do you not know the rules of war War is not waged like this suddenly without a challenge
King Ravi flicked his hand in the air as if swatting away a trivial fly I know But this is the flame of my revenge in which you are certain to burn
Saying this King Ravi lifted a long burning spear from his chariot and hurled it towards Nirag The spear whistled through the air moving towards Nirag like a blazing torch But Anvay extended his hand forward From the ground before him a thick stone wall suddenly grew up The burning spear struck that wall and shattered into pieces and its sparks scattered in the air
King Ravi looked at Anvay in anger Prince Anvay Do you wish to protect your enemy
Anvay looked directly into King Ravi eyes and said Maharaj Nirag is not my enemy He is my friend
King Ravi began to laugh a bitter venomous laugh Do you not know Anvay that the one who takes your life is an enemy not a friend Have you forgotten that Nirag father Andhak Void took the lives of the entire kingdom of your maternal home He forced your mother to give up her life
Anvay eyes became moist King Ravi continued Will you still side with Andhak Void son Nirag
Anvay looked at Nirag There was no malice in Nirag eyes towards him only a deep compassion and guilt King Ravi said So what have you decided Anvay Will you side with us or with this Nirag
Anvay looked at King Ravi and said and his voice was clear and firm I will not side with you I will side with Nirag My parents chose their end themselves willingly to protect my life I will not let their sacrifice burn in the fire of revenge
King Ravi clenched his fist so tightly in anger that drops of blood began dripping from beneath his glove Fine Anvay As you wish And he looked at his army and screamed Commander Attack
Nirag also looked at his commander and said Attack
War erupted between the armies of both kingdoms This was no ordinary war It was a clash of elements The weapons and armor of Suryagadh soldiers emitted a sharp scorching heat while the arrows and spears of Prakashgadh soldiers gleamed with the mixture of water and fire elements
On the battlefield a scene unfolded
A Suryagadh horseman swinging his burning trident lunged at a Prakashgadh foot soldier The Prakashgadh soldier raised his shield which had a blue energy coating The trident struck the shield and with a terrible explosion the energies of both elements clashed pushing the nearby soldiers back
Somewhere a Prakashgadh archer nocked a flaming arrow on his bow and aimed at the wheel of a Suryagadh chariot As soon as the arrow struck the wheel burst into flames with an explosion and the chariot toppled to one side
Two soldiers clashed face to face One sword was surrounded by flames and the other had ice crystals frozen on its blade With every strike steam and sparks flew and the sound of clashing metal turned into a roar
Nirag and Anvay looked at each other and attacked King Ravi But King Ravi used his sun element to create a shield before himself that was a blazing orb made of sunlight Nirag used his hydro flame element to release an arrow of blue red flame which whistled through the air and struck that sun shield A blinding light and a wave of heat spread in all directions King Ravi jumped down from there and attacked Nirag with the intense light of his sun element A concentrated burning ray that was scorching the air
Nirag immediately created a water shield before himself and moved away from there An intense battle began between the two King Ravi strikes were overpowering Nirag and stains were appearing on his armor Just then on Nirag head the mark of that third eye began emerging again like a black fissure A strange gleam of rage flashed in his eyes and the flames emerging from his hands began turning black and purple
Anvay saw this and reached Nirag and grabbed him and shook him Nirag No Calm down
Taking advantage of this King Ravi used all the power of his hatred to create a burning orb of sun element with a white hot center and hurled it at Nirag and Anvay
Anvay saw and screamed Nirag And he came before Nirag He struck both his hands on the ground and a huge thick wall of stone and earth grew up before them with patterns of tree roots emerging on it
The burning orb struck that wall
A terrible explosion occurred as if the sky had shattered A cloud of smoke and dust rose on the battlefield from which sparks and pieces of stone were flying
King Ravi began laughing loudly Finally my revenge is complete
But just then a voice thundered Not yet
Chief Minister Krishnadas who had been leading the battle until now raised his sword He was an old warrior and his sword was inscribed with the ancient Naad Sutra of Prakashgadh He spun the sword and hurled it at King Ravi with such speed that it became a gleaming line whistling through the air
King Ravi had no time to move The sword cut through his right leg and passed out
King Ravi screamed with a sharp cry Ahh And collapsed to the ground His severed leg began to burn and a black sticky poison began spreading from the edges of the wound He clenched his fist in anger and screamed Krishnadas Even while leaving you have wounded me You coated your sword with poison
Saying this King Ravi fell unconscious His soldiers stopped the war and lifted him onto the chariot The chariot turned towards Suryapuri
In the peaceful hut of the Tapobhumi Neer was lying on his bed Agni sat beside him turning the pages of an ancient text Suddenly Neer sat up and his eyes were wide and his breath quickened He screamed Nirag
Agni looked at Neer in astonishment What happened Neer
Neer body was drenched in sweat He placed his hand on his heart and then on his forehead Agni Nirag Nirag is in some danger
Agni looked at Neer and a flash of fear ran through his eyes for a moment Then he calmed down and said No Neer You had a dream Nirag is safe in the palace
No Agni Neer said and his voice carried a pained urgency No Nirag is in some danger I saw it Fire and blood
Agni kept looking at him in astonishment Just then a servant came running from outside and stood at the door and said Someone has come to meet you
Agni and Neer kept looking at each other A new unknown tension was now hanging in the air
