Chapter 220 - Book Two, Chapter 95: Preparation for ELS arrival

Unlike the glorious Empire, the United Earth Federation didn't change that much. All it achieved was the complete unification of Earth, improved living standards, and all that.

For someone who saw two worlds in action and could compare. It looked like the Federation was an embodiment of laziness.

Empress Marina, or as Marcus loves to call her, Princess Wife, began to see it as well. Without her duties as princess, she had a considerable amount of time to see both worlds and see two systems in action.

As weird as it sounds. Marina began to see that her husband's plan to take over the world was the right one.

It was for the betterment of society.

"Well, well, my little Emperor!" Marcus scooped his son as he arrived at his home on the West Coast. One of the first things he saw was his son and wife.

"I heard the news. You finished the weapon." Marina said with a smile as she greeted her husband.

"Indeed. I am here to put things into action." He replied as he walked forward, and the Empress followed. She greeted Anna as well. There was a strained smile as she saw Claudia, who puffed when she saw her little brother getting all her father's attention.

"Don't mind her. She is in that phase." Anna said to the fellow Empress.

"...I can see that."

"How is everything else?" Marcus asked, ignoring his teenage daughter's behaviour.

"It's fine. Everything is extremely calm. Marybell and Mei are trying to keep paperwork to a minimum, but all sorts of political factions are popping up." Marina explained, recalling those two expressions.

"Oh… well… only two more years left. After that, we can shelve this outdated system and set things for my Little Emperor to take over once he is all grown up." The Emperor lifted his son up, who giggled, not fully understanding what he meant.

"Yay! Papa lift me up!" the boy giggled, though if one paid close attention, one could see that his eyes were unique.

The child almost immediately transitioned into Innovator extremely early. While not naturally born an innovator like his daughter, Daphne.

Yes, Daphne, Euphemia decided to give her Greek name, but not after a Conqueror or Roman General… like he did before.

At the end of the day, he accepted it, since it had a nice ring to it. His daughter was already four, and she was a little Euphemia carbon copy. The only difference which Euphemia constantly gushes over is that she had that 'Lulu serious look'.

After a bit of catch-up and having dinner, Marcus went over to his workshop. By this point, Legion's robotic hands brought his Gundam over and stationed it next to Oldrin's and Marybell's.

Once in his seat, he uploaded the weapon's data and immediately issued orders for its construction.

Jupiter's sphere was almost completely exclusive for his use. Politically, he made sure there would be as little resistance as possible to what is happening here.

With construction on the way, he leaned back and could finally continue his work on the Power Armour!

He spent bloody five years creating a universal platform for a Solar Cannon! But it was worth it.

Now there is a weapon that could protect his Empire from Reapers and ELS.

Well, Brain Burst is not meant for Reapers, but it's a platform he can alter the load, he could shoot compressed particles, pure plasma, or even gravity, like his A.S.P. special forces.

So it was a good project, and there was a sense of pride in finishing it.

~~~
"So that's it. Damn, it's huge." Lockon looked at the massive cannon, which had been under construction for the past five years. But only now have they got the final designs.
"...That's some serious firepower." He made AI run through the simulation.
"It was designed to fry brains. Not kill." The head engineer read through the schematics.
"And what is the difference?" The Gundam Pilot stationed on Jupiter asked.
"The difference is that this cannon will fry the living metal mind, and then we can harvest them as construction material."
"...Damn… so we will use their bodies for construction?" Lockon grimaced a bit.
"Not truly dead, from what I understand. More like a vegetable state."
"...I see… so that was always his plan…" The brown-haired pilot said with a realisation.
"That is because if we could control them, we could accelerate construction to absurd levels. Imagine using clay for everything. And not only is it extremely durable and all that, but you could create massive buildings in a matter of days."
"...I am not that good with clay." Lockon grimaced.
"You don't need to be good with anything; there will be software that can order, and the living metal will do it for you." The engineer explained that he was one of the few who knew Marcus plans as head of Jupiter's operations.
"Oh?"
"Yes. The beam should crush the will of these metals, but that doesn't mean we can order them. It's a similar situation to puppets and strings."
"...So we're going to turn them into zombies and then use their bodies for our own means?" Lockon wasn't that happy with such a development.
"It is what it is. There is a planet that is flying right towards us with the intention of assimilating us and turning everything into metal.
Are you going to let that happen instead?" The engineer pointed out what could happen to them.
"...Fair point." The brown-haired Gundam pilot grimaced as he imagined a scenario like that.
"Precisely, I am more than happy that we have the means not to end them but make them work for us, Mr Lockon. It's for the betterment of humanity, and I am right there to help our custodian achieve that."
"...I guess you are right. Ending the enemy is one thing, but subjugating and then making the work for us is another. Now that is on a different level."
'The question is… how did he know about them from the very start? Is it Precurson Civilisation power?'
With that in mind, the ex-Celestial Being's Gundam Meister ponders how far the Emperor's plans go.
~~~

A hologram of a metal boot frame spun above a platform. Marcus walked around it, inspecting the frame.

He then summoned another hologram, a design platform; he swiftly moulded a layer and sent it to the boot frame, covering a section of it.

Then he moved it a bit to make sure the frame moves the way he wants. Legion adjusted the physics of the future footwear.

As he was doing that, at the corner spot where the resting area is, a young girl was holding her cheeks with her palms. She looked dead bored.

The girl was 1st Princess Claudia Anaheim.

Marcus stopped for a bit and looked at his bored daughter.

"Hmm…"

For a second, he wondered what he could give her to do.

'Oh…'

"Claudia, dear. There is something that I could need your help with." Marcus stopped tinkering as he slowly walked over to her.

"Hmm… I don't work with metals, Dad." She puffed at him.

"Not metals… how about… cats?" The Emperor said with a certain glint in his eyes.

"...Cats?" The girl's interest got piqued.

"But mom said we can't have pets if we don't take care of them," Claudia complained.

"And you think you can take care of this specific cat? It's not a simple one." The Emperor began to hint at something else, and not a normal cat.

"Dad… mom said no lions or tigers." The girl deadpanned at him; her deadpan was an exact copy of Anna's.

"Indeed, lions and tigers do see humans as prey, but…" He continues to hint at something.

Her eyes widened as she realised something.

"There are others that don't!" Claudia, all of a sudden, perked up.

"Indeed…and…"

Marcus summoned his management hologram and went through several things. It was conservation efforts.

"I heard you are quite good with genetics."

The Black-Haired Princess puffed her chest when she heard the praise.

"I am more of a plant person, Dad. But, this time I can make an exception."

The Emperor chuckled as he suddenly rubbed her head, messing up her hair.

"Moh! Don't do that! Mom will complain again!" The girl tried to brush his hand away.

"Anyway, did I ever tell you that your dad has a huge animal conservation project running on Earth?" He winked at her.

"...Somehow that little detail slipped your mind," Claudia complained while she fixed her hair.

"Did it now? Last time I checked, I had this program in our world." He teased her a bit before getting up.

"Hmph, you have many of those!"

"Heh, indeed, anyway, I am going to change, and then we can do some exploring." He winked at her.

The Princess perked up.

~~~
A motorcade arrived at one of the conservation sites that was under direct Anaheim control.
The place was a zoo at some point, but Marcus took over and began extensive restoration work for rare animals.
He was even utilising genetic alterations to bypass genetic bottlenecks and allow the population to grow.
Among them were red wolves, which are extremely rare and extinct in the wild; the same was true of Bengal Tigers and other extremely rare animals.
But for the one they arrived here was a bit smaller and less dangerous.
The first to jump out of the limo was Claudia, dressed for summer in a sundress, a big hat, and sunglasses.
After her was Anna, who didn't look that excited, then Marcus, who had a grin on his face; all of them were dressed up for summer, as they were still in sunny California.
"Sir, it's good to see you." The head keeper greeted Marcus respectfully.
"Yes. I heard the news. I came here as soon as I could." The disguised Emperor said with a happy tone.
"I don't know what it is, but I don't like it." Anna massaged her forehead.
"Relax, it's not a lion or tiger."
"I should have said no big cats at all." The Empress continued to massage her forehead.
"It will be okay, they don't see humans as their source of food and raised from a small age, they are completely harmless…well harmless for people but not furniture." The Keeper said with a strained smile, he can see his boss's wife is not that happy.
"Is that so. Well, you are the one who is paying for the damages." Anna commented, arms crossed, as she looked at her husband.
"When don't I? Besides, it's time she learns some responsibility," Marcus replied as he motioned towards the keeper to show them.
"But not with animals that have big teeth."
"Is that so? Last time I checked…" He leaned towards his wife. "...Innovator is far more dangerous than an animal."
"..."
The Disguised Ruler slightly leaned forward. He placed both of his hands on Claudia's shoulders and whispered to her.
"I want you to use your Innovator powers to tell your new friend that you are their friend, okay? It will be a test for you to develop your powers as well." Marcus whispered, and Princess nodded a couple of times.
Anna somewhat calmed down and realised that with quantum brainwaves, Claudia should be able to control whatever beast they have chosen.
"Leave it to me, Dad!" The girl nodded with a serious face.
The pair walked indoors, a short drip inside let them into a closed-up pen.
"Oh my gosh!" Claudia gawked at several small kittens; they had marks and a bit of distinctive fur on their backs.
"...Are those… Cheetahs?" Anna stroked her chin as she tried to figure out the animal.
"Indeed, African Cheetahs, their mother just passed away after giving birth, so there are several cubs that need to be taken care of." The keeper said to the family.
"...Is that so… there was more than I expected." Marcus got closer as there was a certain look on his face.
"We are not taking more than one!" Anna immediately complained as she realised what that look meant!
