Chapter 4 - Valarr III

(Valarr's POV)

Sometimes, I wonder what I did to be placed in such a situation. To deal with a Lady as stubborn as this one is hellish, something that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. It can be tedious and a living nightmare at times. Being threatened by a Dragonlady is never fun, especially when they want you to be devoured. And that is exactly what you deal with when it comes to the Targaryens.

But it has its moments.

"Valarr!" I heard Lady Visenya call out for me as I stood on the rampart of the castle, "Where have you gone? Curses, must you be so stubborn?!"

I turned to see her stomping my way, "My Lady." I said, "You just left the training yard."

It had been two hours since Visenya and I had our back and forth; she had left the training yard to discuss something with her brother and father.

"I did not command you to do the same." She reached me, "Why must you always defy me?"

"My apologies if I have offended you." I told her, "But if you don't need me, I should take my leave."

"Hmph." She said with a scowl, "Who do you think you are? That's what I want to know. You may be Valyrian, but you are no Dragonlord."

"My Lady?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, "I am aware of that."

"Your people serve my House, do they not?" She asked, pointing at me, "Therefore, you serve me."

"Y-Yes, something like that." I said

"That means that whether I need you or not, I will always keep you by my side." She said, "Do I make myself clear?"

I sighed and nodded, "Yes."

"You little...." She stepped closer to me and reached for my ear, pulling on it, "How dare you threat this like a chore? I am your Lady, Valarr! You must show your respect to me!"

"I do, My Lady!" I said, "Stop pulling my ear."

"Hmph." She let go, "As for that trick of yours. If you wish to hide its secrets, fine. Do as you wish, Valarr. In exchange, you must keep sparring with me every day. Your skills with the blade is worthy of my attention."

I rubbed my earlobe, "I thought that was what we were doing."

"Do not be a fool." She said, "You merely come when I summon you. From now on, I require you by my side at all times. I have spoken to my father, you will be my personal guard. Your people have proven themselves to House Targaryen, you lot can be personal guards to us."

"Oh." I said, "Well, I am aware of that. But are you sure about that?"

"Sure about what?" She crossed her arms

"You and I, spending all day together. Especially every day." I said, "Wouldn't it get overwhelming?"

"Is that meant to be an insult?" She scowled, "I'll have your tongue cut out, you stupid boy"

I sighed, "No...it is not."

"Come." She walked past me, "Let us go."

"Where to?" I asked, turning and following

"To the Dragonmont." She said, "Make haste, you fool."

I frowned, following her, "As you wish." I muttered, "I suppose I can keep you safe."

"I need you not for safety." She said, "I can take care of that myself."

"Then why?" I asked

"Amusement," she said simply and coldly

"Hm....." I said, "How hurtful."

**********

"Brother!" Visenya said, "Just what are you doing?"

I stopped behind Visenya, seeing that a young boy with white hair and purple eyes stood before us. He was a bit taller than Visenya, despite being younger than both of us.

This was Aegon Targaryen, heir to Dragonstone. He was Visenya's younger brother and the son of Lord Aerion. And it wasn't just that; he was the rider of Balerion, The Black Dread. That grand beast was House Targaryen's greatest weapon and with Balerion, they had the potential to bring forth a new era.

He was looking at us, "Visenya." He said, "I am about to take to the skies, Balerion has grown restless."

"Hm...." Visenya said, "You dare do that when I am about to do the same?"

Aegon blinked, "Pardon?"

"Get out of the way." Visenya said, walking past him, "Foolish brother of mine, always getting in the way."

Aegon stepped towards me, "What is with her?" He asked me, "Did you do something?"

"No, My Lord." I said

"Mayhaps it's one of those days." Aegon said with a frown

"I heard that!" Visenya snapped, glaring at him, "The two of you fools can speak all you want, I will ensure that you will regret it!"

"Oh." Aegon said, "Well, that's not good."

"Are you going to take your dragon to flight?" I asked him, "It is always a wonder to see Balerion flying above in the sky. The majesty of that beast is something out of a dream, My Lord."

"Hm, yes. He is wonderful indeed." He crossed his arms, "I'm glad you have taken a liking to him. He is without a doubt-"

"My Vhagar is also a majestic beast, Valarr." Visenya cut him off, walking over to me, "You dare compliment his dragon but not mine, huh? First, you refuse to teach me your sword abilities and now this? What to do with you, Valarr, what to do...."

"Sword abilities?" Aegon frowned

"That's not what I meant." I said, "Lady Visenya, why must you take everything so personal when it comes to me."

"Isn't it obvious?" I heard a voice call out

I turned to see a young girl wearing a black dress walking up to us. She had white hair and purple eyes, a softer smile worn by her. I immediately recognized her as Lady Rhaenys Targaryen, the youngest of Lord Aerion's children.

"My Lady." I bowed slightly

"What is obvious, Rhaenys?" Aegon asked

"Our sister is fond of Valarr here." Rhaenys said, "One might say.....she fancies him plenty."

"Quiet, sister!" Visenya exclaimed, "I need not for you to say such things."

I frowned, "If she does fancy me, Lady Rhaenys, she clearly shows it in such a rough way." I said, letting out a sigh, "I mean, if this is how she shows her 'love', I do wonder how she shows her ha-"

"Silence, you fool..." She pinched my arm, "Stupid imbecile, I ought to have Vhagar eat you."

"Alright, let him be." Aegon said, "That's my friend right there."

"He's my personal guard." Visenya snapped,

"Stay out of this."
