Lying on his bed, Aiden slowly sorted through the chaotic memories swirling in his mind.
When he had first received them, the dizziness had been overwhelming.
Now that everything had settled, the headache felt even worse.
Cedric Diggory was not his roommate, as he had previously assumed.
Cedric was a year above him.
It had never been possible.
Among the students sharing his dormitory, only one—Raerh Combett—was a half-blood from the wizarding world.
The other three, like Aiden, were Muggle-born wizards.
They were Steve Libby, Arasso Abbott, and Acheson Peeves.
Aiden lay still, recalling everything that had happened tonight.
The rewards.
The exposure of secrets.
The beginning of the first attack.
The system had entered upgrade mode.
Until midnight passed and the upgrade completed, he could only stare at the panel. He could not interact with it.
Was he Aiden?
Or Li Weisi Ramirez?
After everything that had happened, the question resurfaced.
Two sets of memories churned violently in his mind.
The headache he had suppressed in the Great Hall returned with renewed force.
Previously, Li Weisi Ramirez's memories had been buried deep.
If he did not actively think about them, they remained dormant.
They surfaced only when triggered by familiar names or faces.
Now, however, the two sets of memories were merging.
Scenes unfolded before him like fragments of a broken mirror reassembling.
They felt real.
As though he had personally lived them.
After a long time, Aiden slowly opened his eyes.
A faint glimmer flashed within them.
He was both.
Li Weisi Ramirez and Aiden.
They were no longer separate identities.
They were one.
"Finally, it does not hurt as much."
He pressed a hand against his forehead and glanced at his roommates.
Hufflepuffs were not known for midnight wanderings.
All four of them were fast asleep.
Unless someone caused a major disturbance, they would not wake easily.
"The first attack has begun."
Aiden stared at the ceiling, brows furrowed deeply.
The attack on Mrs. Norris marked the beginning.
From now on, every Muggle-born student at Hogwarts was in danger.
Dumbledore's earlier astonishment had made one thing clear.
He did not know about the Basilisk hidden beneath the thousand-year-old castle.
If he had known, he would never have allowed it to remain there.
But if Dumbledore did not know, then the situation became even more complicated.
Aiden could not simply approach him and say, "It was a Basilisk."
Even if Dumbledore believed him, how would he explain the source of that knowledge?
Behind the truth lay a dangerous price.
Even with Occlumency protecting his mind from Legilimency, the difference in power between him and Dumbledore was vast.
Reckless exposure would be suicidal.
Of course, Aiden knew Dumbledore was not Tom Riddle.
He did not possess Riddle's bloodlust or fanaticism.
But when it came to control, the two were more similar than most realized.
For now, it was safer to keep his distance.
He needed to secure his own survival.
In the original story, no one had died.
All victims had merely been petrified.
But this was reality.
Not a novel.
In a real world, accidents happened.
And the butterfly effect was very real.
His presence alone could alter countless future events.
Any Muggle-born student could become a true victim.
Including himself.
He had to prepare.
Aiden sat up slowly.
Food always helped when the mind was troubled.
Perhaps a visit to the kitchens would clear his thoughts.
He slipped on his shoes and quietly opened the dormitory door.
Before leaving, he glanced back.
His roommates remained asleep.
He closed the door gently behind him.
Perhaps he should seek Hagrid and ask for roosters.
The crow of a rooster was lethal to a Basilisk.
But he remembered something else.
In the story, the roosters died.
And he did not know exactly when that would happen.
Even if he kept one nearby, what if he accidentally made eye contact with the Basilisk first?
The creature's gaze meant instant death.
A rooster was useful.
But it was not enough.
He stepped out into the corridor and forced his turbulent thoughts to settle.
Reaching the familiar row of barrels near the Hufflepuff entrance, he tapped the correct rhythm and opened the barrel marked with fruit.
He climbed through.
The warm aroma of food immediately greeted him.
His hunger intensified.
But as he stepped further inside, he froze.
There, surrounded by bustling house-elves, stood a very familiar figure.
Albus Dumbledore.
Hearing footsteps, Dumbledore turned instinctively.
He saw a Hufflepuff student standing in the entrance, staring at him in shock.
Being caught by the Headmaster while sneaking out after curfew—
Was there anything more awkward?
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled slightly.
He seemed to recognize the boy.
If he remembered correctly, his name was Aiden Ramirez.
