Chapter 486 - Chapter 486: New Era - Part 1

The year 1508 of the Sea Circle Calendar marked the tenth year since the beginning of the Great Pirate Era, a year destined to leave its mark on history. Across the New World, one earth-shaking event after another unfolded, reshaping the balance of power.

The already unstable Chaotic Seas came under coordinated pressure from every direction. Numerous forces turned their eyes toward the Whitebeard Pirates, while both the Nightfall Pirates and the Beast Pirates continued tightening the noose around their territory.

Edward Newgate, Whitebeard himself, finally stopped holding back.

Rather than remaining on the defensive, the World's Strongest Man personally launched a counteroffensive. One after another, he sought out every force that had been taking advantage of the Whitebeard Pirates' predicament. The Satan Pirates, the Gecko Pirates, and the remnants of John, Silver Axe, and Wang Zhi's old factions all became his targets.

Every one of them suffered devastating losses.

Only by crushing them personally could Whitebeard completely extinguish their greed and remind them of the immeasurable gulf separating them from the strongest pirate alive.

The terrifying might of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit was displayed without reservation.

Earthquakes split the seas apart.

Towering tsunamis swallowed entire fleets.

The ocean tilted beneath impossible shockwaves.

Islands cracked apart.

The very sea seemed on the verge of collapse as Whitebeard casually unleashed disasters capable of changing the world itself.

The Satan Pirates were engulfed by a massive tsunami and suffered catastrophic losses. Their captain, Alexandre Caesar, escaped only after sustaining grievous injuries, with intelligence reports claiming he collapsed unconscious shortly after reaching safety.

Gecko Moria and the Gecko Pirates fared little better. Even after joining forces with three veteran overlords and their Zombie forces, they still failed to withstand Whitebeard's assault. In the end, Moria escaped only through hidden means.

The remaining factions stood even less chance.

Some fled the moment they heard Whitebeard was approaching.

Others attempted to resist, only to discover that the combined strength of their forces still paled before a single enraged Whitebeard. Very few people in the world could withstand one of his full-powered blows.

According to intelligence reports, the disturbances caused by Whitebeard's battles spread across the entire Chaotic Seas. Even islands located far beyond the battlefield could feel the violent tremors shaking the ocean.

Three islands sank beneath the sea.

Five more were literally torn apart by Whitebeard's overwhelming power.

When Whitebeard fought without restraint, he was nothing short of invincible.

His overwhelming display of strength instantly extinguished every lingering ambition aimed at the Whitebeard Pirates' territories. As long as Whitebeard remained alive, no one dared believe those islands belonged to anyone else.

The surrounding powers immediately withdrew.

They chose to consolidate their own territories, protect the gains they had already secured, and quietly lick their wounds. No one wished to endure such devastating losses a second time.

Although the deaths among their elite fighters remained relatively limited, the destruction of countless ordinary crew members still dealt them a painful blow. Rebuilding those forces would require years of recruitment and training.

By this point, the overall situation across the seas had also begun stabilizing.

The era of explosive territorial expansion had gradually come to an end. Recruitment across every major force slowed considerably as each organization approached a state of saturation.

Even the Nightfall Pirates no longer expanded their ranks at the frantic pace of previous years. Instead, they focused increasingly on cultivating the strength of their existing members.

Whitebeard's furious counterattack restored morale throughout his crew while simultaneously intimidating every opportunistic faction in the Chaotic Seas.

Everyone understood that the chaotic era there was nearing its conclusion.

Even so, the final stabilization would still require time.

The division of territory, whether established through formal treaties or simple verbal agreements, would determine the future political landscape of the Chaotic Seas. Once every sphere of influence was finalized, those islands would truly become the permanent territories of their respective powers, and the name "Chaotic Seas" itself would gradually disappear as order replaced chaos.

Naturally, secret conflicts between neighboring forces would never completely cease.

Still, compared to the endless wars of the past several years, the region had entered a far more stable phase.

Whitebeard had resolved the immediate crisis in the Chaotic Seas.

Unfortunately for the Whitebeard Pirates, the war in the Notting Sea only grew fiercer.

Rather than slowing their advance during Whitebeard's absence, the Nightfall Pirates accelerated it.

Within just a few months, they completely annexed the entire Notting Sea before pressing even deeper into Whitebeard territory.

The Whitebeard Pirates were caught completely off guard.

Every piece of intelligence they had received suggested the Nightfall Pirates would consolidate their gains after securing the Notting Sea.

Instead, they revealed an appetite that seemed almost limitless.

Since the beginning of the war, nearly one hundred islands belonging to the Whitebeard Pirates had already fallen into Nightfall hands. Many of those islands were not simply strategic locations. They were the homes of Whitebeard's allies and commanders.

Even Whitey Bay's homeland, Ice Island, had been occupied.

That reality shattered the final illusions held by the Whitebeard Pirates.

If they continued retreating at the same pace, they had no idea how much territory would remain by the time Whitebeard arrived.

Should that happen, the Whitebeard Pirates would become the greatest laughingstock on the seas.

The war had already lasted nearly a full year.

Throughout that entire period, the Nightfall Pirates advanced relentlessly while the Whitebeard Pirates failed to achieve a single decisive victory. Rather than narrowing, the gap between the two forces continued growing larger.

At last, the Whitebeard Pirates abandoned their previous strategy of gradual withdrawal.

They began resisting with everything they had.

At the very least, until Pops returned, they could no longer afford to surrender island after island without a fight.

Naturally, that decision caused their casualties to rise sharply.

The Nightfall Pirates, however, experienced the exact opposite.

Their losses continued to decline.

Enel served as the greatest reason behind that change.

His Observation Haki covered nearly the entire battlefield, allowing him to monitor every engagement simultaneously. His mastery over Divine Judgment became increasingly refined, enabling him to rescue injured comrades almost the moment they lost the ability to continue fighting.

The wounded were immediately evacuated to the rear.

There, an increasingly sophisticated logistical network handled treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation with remarkable efficiency.

Mechanical prosthetics became more common with every passing month.

More and more members received advanced mechanical arms and hands through life-mechanical technology.

Furthermore, the Nightfall Pirates possessed astonishing vitality.

Even after suffering massive blood loss, many members could remain alive for days. A fallen pirate was not necessarily a dead pirate. More often than not, they had simply lost consciousness before being recovered.

Once they reached the rear lines, treatment rapidly restored their injuries.

Missing limbs and permanent disabilities could be compensated for through life-mechanical technology. In some cases, the replacements even enhanced a person's combat ability beyond its original level.

As a result, the Nightfall Pirates' mortality rate plummeted.

The Whitebeard Pirates simply had no way to compete with such an overwhelming logistical advantage.

One side possessed a complete wartime support system built upon advanced science and medicine.

The other relied on far more traditional methods.

The difference between the two was becoming increasingly apparent with every battle.
