Chapter 50 - The Classmate

A beautiful Wednesday came by. His doctors felt that he wasn't fit enough, surprisingly. So he rested at home for several days. Now, he was back.

Someone wants to kill me.

But why would anyone want to kill me?

Tou pressed the top his pen incessantly. The silent classroom was filled with an annoying clicking sound. But not many would even try to comment on it, since it was Tou.

Besides his seat were the two wooden crutches that were assigned to him by the doctor, that he was instructed to use for the week to help with his weakness.

The bells rang. Tou shoved his pen into his pocket, grabbing his clutches and walking out of the classroom.

Walking through the hallway, their was a very thin bubble that surrounded Tou. One that separated him from everyone else. Naturally, everyone seemed to stay just a bit away from this bubble.

He was walking toward his next class, as usual, till he bumped into a figure smaller than him. She fell to the ground.

"Ah, sorry. Are you alright?"

These words came out of Tou, sounding very naturally. His altruism had been faked for so long it seemed to be real to even himself. He stretched a hand out.

The girl on the floor had silky black hair that fell and draped like a curtain, obscuring her face. She raised a hand to move her hair out of the way. With this, recognizing who the girl was, Tou's expression shifted, just slightly.

.

The two sat on top of one of the many benches placed at the rooftop of the school, Tou smoking diligently.

"You haven't been in school for a while."

The girl's face could finally be seen. Intense brown eyes, the type where you could always see the white in her eyes. She had bony cheeks and pale skin, which made sense in this region. Thin lips. A bit of a longer philtrum.

"Lacey…"

"Why are you saying my name like that?"

"… I got into an accident. Lost a lot of blood, so I had to be hospitalized."

He raised his heavily bandaged fingers for her to see. Lacey took a glance, with a saddened expression. She grabbed his hands, holding them to her heart. Tou, turned his head to the side, avoiding her her gaze.

"That's unfortunate. You're still alive. I had gotten so happy when you didn't come those few days. Now you're here."

"Stop… talking."

Lacey dropped his hands , allowing them to fall to the stone that they were sitting on. Her deadpan expression returned, this time a little bit sadder.

Tou clicked his tongue.

"You really want me dead, huh?"

"That's a serious question?

"I hate you, Tou. I hate you more than anything. You've done nothing but ruin my life. Filth to the world like you shouldn't be allowed to live any longer. So when you were gone, I smiled for the first time in a long time. Is that ridiculous? The sky looked brighter, the air felt cleaner. I listened to music, stopped by the library, I even thought about…"

"Okay. I get it. You can stop now."

"You think I'm the cruel one, right?"

"Well, yeah. You speak so negatively about me casually."

Tou took a puff. Lacey's lips smacked before she spoke.

"Do you remember the first time you brought me here? The first time I had ever skipped. Right here, on this cold stone floor, you forced a cigarette into my mouth, and lit it."

"… Don't act like you didn't like it. You've been smoking ever since. Smoking is what made you able to even talk to people. Hey, while we're on that topic, why aren't you smoking right now?"

"The doctor told me that smoking is bad for the baby."

Tou stared blankly. The smoke left his mouth very softly, as his jaw hung, and his mouth was agape, slightly.

"What are you saying, Lacey?"

"I'm pregnant. And it's yours."

Tou lunged at her. She collapsed to the ground, with Tou straddling overhead. Wasting no time, his hands flew toward her neck, strangling her. His thumbs pressed at the center of her neck.

"It was you, wasn't it?! You crazy bitch! You were the one who tried to kill me! All because of a child that you couldn't handle?! You're insane! You're a monster!" Tou yelled out.

She flailed. Clawing, scratching. Her long fingernails dung into Tou's clothes, ripping and tearing. A purple hue began to discolor her face.

"Fine then. I'll kill you, and that accursed child that lives within you. I'll be doing the world two favors."

From the sides of her mouth, saliva dribbled. Tears fell down. She managed to open her palm just enough.

[Cast: Thrusting Wind]

A curving, rotating wind dug into Tou's chest, send him flying. He was thrown a few meters away from Lacey.

Finally, this allowed her to take a deep breath.

"You're fucking pathetic, Tou! There's a deep pit of hell that has been opened just for you!" Lacey yelled out.

Red marks lingered at her throat.

She walked toward the ledge with heavy steps. And just like that, she jumped.

Tou's eyes widened. He grabbed his crutches, rushing down the school. Meanwhile, he bumped into people, quickly greeting them, presenting smiles, and things of such nature. He finally reached the bottom floor, and pushed the doors to the school open, exiting.

There were people that had already been surrounding her body. Tou stared at the body.

She landed on her head, completing destroying it. Brain fluid and blood oozed onto the ground. Her joints twisted unnaturally, bones sticking out in a disturbing fashion.

I thought she was trying to escape…

But truthfully, she made all of this a lot easier for me..

Tou couldn't help but snicker. A sneer laugh escaped his mouth, like water trickling out a water bottle. His hand was quicker than ever, moving to cover his hand.

To add onto that, her neck is unrecognizable anyway, haha! Then that means… It's fine, right?

His heart was beating incredibly fast. Faster than ever. Like he had ran a marathon.
