Chapter 55 - A Dragonling

"It's time. To finally rid the world of this evil plague."

Five masked figures stood around Tou's hospital bed. One of them, the one closest to Tou, held a silver dagger dipped in a lethal poison. His arm hovered over Tou's head.

"Alem, fucking do it!" The high-pitched voice belonging to Ami urged for him to strike. But Alem held the dagger with shaky hands. He was scared. He was going to kill Tou, the man who had ruined all of their lives and subjected them to a lot of torture. Yet, he was scared.

Ami grunted. She marched toward Alem, grabbing the dagger from him. Her hands were shaky too. She was scared and she was just a kid. Why did she have to do this? Why was she the one subjected to that torture?

It doesn't matter anymore. Come on! Fucking do it!

She slammed her arm down into Tou's head. The moonlight peeking through the window glinted off the clean silver dagger.

Suddenly, Tou kicked up!

The dagger flew into the air.

The five masked figures dashed away.

Tou stood up on the hospital bed. He was still in his baby blue hospital gown, with the top half of his head bandaged. Stray strands of light green hair stuck out from those bandages. In the manner he was standing, their was something awfully sinister about him, well, more sinister than usual. His back was hunched, his stance very loose.

"Holy shit…

"Who would've known I had a dragon in me? And he had all this power, and he was hiding this from me because he knew what I would do with it. I was limited by human power, and because I was limited, I didn't think beyond. Beyond stupid, regular pain. That was primitive to me. I have to apologize to you guys for everything. For everything I've done, because I've set you with the expectation that life will be easy from now on."

"What is he… talking about?" one of the masked figures muttered.

"It doesn't matter! Come on! What is a blind, injured man gonna do!?" Ami yelled. Alem nodded, along with the three other figures.

All five of them dashed toward the defenseless Tou.

He grinned.

The five of them threw fault punches— faulty to Tou, atleast. It was now that he could see their movements, understand it, see exactly what was wrong with the contraction of their muscles, he could accurately guess the amount of energy that they were putting out.

Everyone's going all out. I'll show some respect

Tou ducked, avoiding every strike. He leaped toward the corner of the room farthest away from the hospital bed.

"He's moving like this… despite not being able to see!?" Alem yelled out.

Tou simply stomped. The wooden floorboard of the hospital room splintered and cracked, shaking the positions of the five members.

Let's see.

[Cast: Immense Regeneration]

Tou's could feel his eyes reforming underneath the bandage. In a single movement, he pulled the damp bandage and brittle gauze off his face. Finally, he could see the room in it's glory, even in the dark night. Before, he was predicting an image with his other senses. Now, he could see the problem at hand.

The top half of his face turned grey and scaly, like the skin of a dragon. The sclera of his eyes grew black.

[Cast: Scale Explosion]

The scales that grew on his face ripped off, hardening and shooting toward the group of five. The destructive power was immense, as the scales ripped through the hospital as a whole, leaving it basically rubble. The five masked figures were definitely dealt with.

"Ah, perhaps I did too much. Or maybe too little. This town has existed for too long.

He placed his hand on the windowsill, vaulting out. The two stories of height was nothing; Tou landed very gracefully. With this, he walked very lackadaisically, without a care in the world. Right now, for some reason, he felt like the strongest man on the planet. He had one destination. That was Ailsa's house.

"I can't let Cerat's sacrifice go to waste. Yes, I must test these newfound powers."

.

.

Meanwhile,

Oscar Tolien, Leah Kernesk, and Kai Veloz sat quietly in the forest outskirts of one of the many rural towns of Anore. This was a scouting mission of the sort, to see if they could successfully spot any dangers within the town. It was quite the first mission for two cadets, but the trio had proven themselves quite capable.

They sent a tent outside. Twilight was nearing, and the sky became a dark blue. There was one thing that Kai Veloz and Leah Kernesk didn't expect to be so hard, and that was settling with the boredom.

"Goodness," Leah let out a loud obnoxious sigh.

"Calm down. It's only an entire day. Can't you be like Oscar? Look at him. He's perfectly calm."

Leah took the moment to glance at Oscar. He sat perfectly still, his legs crossed. He stared at the town. Viewing this, she promptly scoffed. Her voice lowered, and she spoke with this kind of dignified yet defeated tone.

"To be fair, Oscar's not human. That guys a machine. I'm glad we can at least count on him, though," Leah finally admitted.

"You know what I think is truly absurd? Sending us, merely three people, to a mission like this. They think we're superhumans. Well, Oscar might be. But us? Me and you, Leah, were subpar. Maybe on par."

"Alright, alright. I don't like all that us, and we. I never said I was subpar," Leah stopped him from any further talking.

Before they knew it, the two of them could not handle the boredom, and the sky was beginning to darken. Naturally, they fell asleep. Oscar almost felt disappointed, shaking his head. His first idea was to wake them up.

No…

I'll let them rest. They deserve it.

An hour or so later, Oscar suddenly heard a loud rumble.

"!"

Without wasting any time, he left his post.
