Chapter 10 - The Shell?

It lifted its hand, and with it, the surroundings twisted, rotting till it became dark like a sinking mud. An eerie aura filled its body as its eyes turned something beyond human.

And Noen, just with a stick, lunged at it.

Booom, creak.

Its bone twisted as a gooey substance erupted from its hand. Its purple shade was obvious, looking poisonous and pale, but Noen, an immortal, just threw the stick with full force, clashing with the substance as it eroded into dust, and from behind, he landed a punch squarely on the monster's face, sending it meters away.

Though his hands deteriorated into bones, trying to grow back like a tree, his eyes stayed focused on the monster, looking at it coldly. But then he noticed something was odd.

"Why can't I regenerate?" he thought.

But it ended up as a mistake, cause before his eyes the monster vanished. He looked around, trying to find it, but he couldn't. His senses screamed danger, but his eyes couldn't trace it. His breath spiked, and then his pupils moved, trying to look back, but without giving him time, it punched the guts out of his body.

His eye socket fell out as blood gushed out continuously, but it didn't bother him as he grabbed the monster's skull, smashing it on the ground, crushing everything around it.

They both fought under the blue shade of the moonlight, their shadows stretched larger as he wondered,

"What kind of monster is this?"

But before he could have done anything, the monster twisted its body, grabbing Noen's head as it crushed his skull into bits. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his consciousness started to fade:

"You m*ther f**ker," he cursed,

But it didn't respond and just vanished without a trace, soon reappearing behind him. But Noen was prepared this time as he blocked the upcoming blow instantly.

But again, the same gooey substance erupted from its body as it launched it toward Noen, but in a millisecond, his body reacted before he could, as, with full force, he tore the monster's body into two parts with his punch, although the substances completely melted away his head.

The monster screamed. Its piercing sound scorched the sky, and along the path it took a step back.

For Noen, the time was running out, cause far behind a tree, Sera was dying, with the poisonous haze reaching toward her body.

Sckreeeek.

The monster screeched one final time at Noen, with eyes turning more uncanny and deep. Its flesh melted like a dripping acid, and the cloak covering its body merged with its own flesh.

Behind those covers was only its guts engulfed in a slimy substance. Blood was flowing out from it, and suddenly it started moving like a wilting worm. Those worm-like flesh formed into a tentacle-like thick cluster, covering its whole body under a disgusting mucus.

Noen was shocked, looking at it in pure fright. His thoughts were jumbled, stuck in a situation. What should he do, as in front of him, that monster deformed into something disastrous, like a big lump of cancerous blob.

Around it, everything rotted away as that mist slowly reached towards Sera, but he, without thinking, rushed to save her.

His body melted away with the purple smoke radiating from the giant blob, leaving just his inside visible. The phantom pain started to take over his body, yet he didn't stop. And quickly he reached for her, jumping as he grabbed her in his arms, dashing away instantly.

But behind him, the monster inflated, as limbs like tissue tore through the ground, sticking it to a place as the big lump opened, revealing a disgusting sight.

It was made of moving intestine, covered in small lumps of flesh, numbering over a thousand, as inside was only dark, devoured by blood, and from it, the tentacles burst out, wiggling, slimy as it followed Noen.

Who was running, with a torn leg, his bones were crushed under the pressure as he increased his speed further.

"Just a little more, come on!" he screamed.

The air started to twist around him. His body was far from normal, and like a sonic boom, shielding Sera with his body, he ran far away into the depths of the forest.

Behind him, the giant blob ignited, turning the whole sky purple as the mist engulfed the forest, turning everything lifeless. The scenery that was green before was now reduced to a rotting land.

And far away, deep inside the forest, Noen sheilded Sera with his whole body.

His back was completely exposed, and his bones were visible, covered in hot surging blood. His remaining flesh covered his hand; his fingers grabbed the dirt beneath him.

As he suddenly moved. He was like a puppet or like an anatomy forming back into its original state. First, his head formed, then his heart, as the tissues stretched further.

Yet they kept falling onto the ground; the process was repeated a hundred or a thousand times.

Until finally Noen came back to consciousness.

"What happened?" he questioned, though his face looked like a skeleton staring into an abyss.

He looked at his hands, then his body.

He murmured, "I escaped somehow, but what was that? Noo, wait.

Where's Sera?!"

He quickly jumped back in panic, looking around as suddenly his gaze landed on a weird object.

It was like a shell made out of blood. Noen looked at it in complete awe.

"What's this?"

He moved closer to it, taking deep breaths. With a single touch of his finger, the shell deteriorated, revealing Sera inside it.

Her body was completely fine, as if nothing had happened to her. But for Noen, it was relief as he fell down onto the ground.

"She's safe… heh, but what was the thing that protected her?"

He moved closer, picking up a fragment of the shell as he examined it more closely.

"It looks like it's made from blood, but whose—

Wait…"

Noen looked at his hands, making a quick incision with his nails. The blood poured out, solidifying instantly with the touch of the fragmented piece. He wondered,

"Is that my blood? Wait, so my blood covered her.

F*ck… so much is happening.

I'll just think about it later, but first I have to get out of this place."

His voice got deeper.

"I'm getting a bad hunch; my senses have not calmed down.

There is something wrong with this forest.

But what could it be?"

Noen stood up as he grabbed Sera on his back and started running, getting as far as he could, whereas somewhere far deep into the forest, something else was happening.

A group of monsters worshipped a bull as if it were their god, and a fountain of blood poured out as they offered their own species for offerings.

All of their faces were covered in bull skulls, and in front of them was a structure made out of bones. At the top lay a giant skull of an unknown creature.

And through the pathway of blood and bone, a disfigured figure walked onto the platform. It had long legs and a twisted smile. A giant skull was on its head, and its body looked like a mix of something. Just from its appearance,

They all went silent.

And slowly they all looked back with their twisted faces as the whole area instantly drowned under an ominous lust.

Whereas far in the distance, Noen kept running. Unbeknownst to what's going to occur.
