CHAPTER 40: THE BOY WITHOUT A SOUL
CALEB'S POV
Varrin found the hidden healing chamber on the lower east side of the estate, a room used for quarantine cases back when the pack was larger and diseases moved faster. Nobody had been in it in years. It was clean enough, quiet enough, and most importantly it was not a place anyone would think to look for a boy who technically didn't exist.
We moved Ian there before the sun came up. Caleb carried him the whole way. Nobody offered to take over and nobody was asked.
I sat in the chair by the wall and watched Varrin work and tried very hard not to think about anything at all, which was not working.
