Hannah was in a great state of confusion.
When she almost fell earlier, her heart was beating so fast she felt like she had just ridden one of those scary rides in the amusement park--before she got too overwhelmed by the smell of the crowd. She wasn't very scared, but she was startled for sure.
Magically, however, a pair of arms caught her, and before she knew it, she was high in the air, in the arms of someone taller than her Papa. Even taller than Uncle Allen!
There was something about this tall person. Hannah felt his heartbeat slow down quickly, as if she knew she was already in safe hands. How weird. Even Hannah knew she wasn't good with strangers. Strangers had weird smells; sometimes they were good, most of the time they were bad. It was uncomfortable for Hannah, who was already used to Papa's soft, comfortable scent.
But Hannah found out she didn't mind this stranger's smell!
