Hannah probably would never know it--even in the far future--how jittery her knight-king Arthur was the whole morning. He looked like an ascetic practicing zen in the middle of the park as he waited for them, but his eyes were darting around as he tried to figure out which entrance Eugene and Hannah would come from.
Even before coming to the garden, he was already in a full dilemma. He wanted to be there half an hour--or even an hour--early because he wanted to have a good impression and because it would be hard for him to find them in the crowd. But if he came too early, the food he brought might turn bad--ugh!
The compromise came with lessening the hot dishes and used heat-retaining container for those few. He also held back and came just a little bit more than half an hour before the appointed time, taking careful consideration on where he should spread the picnic blanket and position the cushion, and sat down to wait.
