The question came as a surprise to Arthur. He, who used to people talking behind his back under the guise of office politics, didn't think someone would ask something like that in his face.
So it was true that this one was straightforward. No wonder he moved fast on Eugene.
And perhaps that was why he unconsciously enveloped Eugene with his scent earlier, like an automatic defense mechanism.
Still...did he hate Elliot? And if he did, would it be wise to tell someone they were asking for help about it?
Arthur met the other alpha's gaze. "No," he replied quite steadily.
No, he wasn't trying to safe face, nor hiding his own feelings for Eugene's sake.
Yes, he knew Elliot was Eugene's 'first love'. Yes, he knew that Elliot had pursued Eugene in the past. Yes, he knew Elliot had tried to kiss Eugene.
"Well, I was annoyed when you scented him," Arthur leaned back and crossed his arms. "And I was annoyed knowing you tried to kiss him--no, I'm still annoyed."
