"Hana can already smell pheromones?" Ian widened his eyes.
They had finished washing up, changed into nice, warm pajamas, and huddled in the bed. They had read three children's books for Hannah, but perhaps because she had a long nap, the girl couldn't get drowsy no matter what. That was how they ended up talking about random things, and this topic came up.
Hannah looked up from her pillow, hugging Mr. Powder as usual. "Pheromone?"
"This scent you smell on me, Daddy, Grandpapa, and everyone else--you know, the smell that other kids can't smell?" Eugene explained.
"Ooh!" Hannah nodded before asking curiously. "Why other kids can't smell them, though?"
"Other kids will be able to smell pheromones too, later. Hana just can do it earlier."
"I see!"
"It's because, like your daddy, you have a sensitive nose," Eugene playfully pinched the girl's nose. "It hurts when it smells too strong, doesn't it?"
