There were not many chairs because it was basically just their families and close friends, and Sophie had decided to put the 'altar' in the middle of the room, surrounded by the chairs—except for the path from the door. Each chair was decorated with white satin and premium imitation climbing roses that looked almost like the real thing, sprinkled with silvery powder that looked like snow.
The 'altar' was an elevated stage, around three steps high, which made Arthur stressed out about falling down. The perimeter was filled with real, imported fresh violets and bluebells. There was a glass pole in the middle of the altar with a wide, flat top for the officiant to put their book. The pole also had some flowers and vines crawled around it; the same flowers that hang from the ceiling, creating a canopy above the altar.
