April's POV:
We went to my home, and I plopped on the couch so hard. I looked at the clock: 1:32 AM
Too early. I'm full of energy, how can I sleep?
I asked Yuri, "Are you gonna come in, or just stand there?"
"You're gonna let me outside? How rude."
"Come in, Mr Dramatic!" I said.
He was grinning. He plopped on the couch beside me.
"What did that aunt say?"
Oh. He's asking about the tita.
"She..." I turned to face him, and he moved a little closer. "Told you're a keeper, and asked how many years we've been together. And... about not letting you go."
His gaze softened.
"..wow"
"She told that... you always check on me, and... wait for me to eat."
"She enlightened you with the truth," he said.
Well, that is true.
MORNING:
Author's POV:
Morning rushed in without paying rent.
Sunlight passed through the window and hit two people who absolutely had no intention of waking up anytime soon.
The alarm went off. Loud. Persistent. Disrespectful.
April flinched first, face scrunched as if the alarm had personally betrayed her. Her hand searched her phone at an attempt to turn off the disrespectful thing.
She missed it, and ended up knocking off her water bottle instead.
It fell on the floor with a thud that was loud enough to annoy her.
"Hmpph.."
That definitely wasn't a word; it was a complaint.
The alarm kept disturbing her, completely unaffected by her suffering.
Next to her, Yuri didn't move. Not even affected by the alarm. He didn't show one sign of life. He just existed. Comfortably hugging the pillow (Caught you and your innocent self, uhm uhm), which was supposed to be a barrier.
"Damn the alarm.." April murmured and with an aggressive tap. She turned off her alarm and groaned.
"Tss." was the only word (sound) that came out of her mouth. Like brother, like sister.
She had zero energy to argue about anything.
"...why is this pillow here?" she murmured.
Silence.
Utter silence.
Then-
"...to prevent our asses from cuddling."
Sir, what?
He was fully committed to the pillow.
His arms were wrapped around it as if it were the most important thing in his life.
Like it hadn't been placed here to prevent this situation between THEM.
The barrier had not just been used.
It switched sides.
She turned.
She lay there for a moment, eyes still closed, trying to gather enough energy to exist.
Then-
She noticed.
"…why am I not squished," she mumbled.
Her eyes opened slowly.
She turned her head.
Paused.
Yuri.
Curled slightly. Peaceful.
Hugging the pillow.
Her pillow. The pillow.
April stared longer than necessary.
"…you replaced me," she said quietly, offended on a personal level.
J-J-jealous of a pillow? Yes!
No response.
Of course not.
We got jealous April before GTA VI.
She glanced at the digital clock.
11:28 AM.
That didn't feel illegal. It was her usual weekend waking-up time.
April narrowed her eyes.
"...that's MY pillow."
He tightened his hold.
Defensively.
Protective of a pillow.
"You're defending my pillow against ME?"
No answer.
"Yuriiii~"
No answer.
"Heyyyyy!"
Silence.
"Fine, bye. I'ma go brush my teeth."
She got up, took the blanket off. Yuri is finally getting more of the blanket, since he only got 1/4 of it before.
He did not care.
Not even a slight movement.
She took one step forward, then looked back.
No movement.
"...traitor," she murmured.
She walked toward the bed.
Slowly.
Purposefully.
She grabbed the edge of the pillow and pulled it closer.
Nothing.
Yuri held on.
"..let go!" April hissed.
He didn't.
"Yuri."
He didn't even care.
She exhaled sharply, and pulled it harder.
It came off, and Yuri was left hugging air.
April straightened up.
VICTORY!
WOHO!
She looked at it. Back at him.
She whispered to the pillow, "you had ONE job."
And without even one word.
She threw it to the ground.
Merciless.
She jumped on the bed, leaned closer.
She adjusted herself, pulling the blanket. Yuri's arms stopped hugging air, and he wrapped his arms around April.
Yeah, this is what girl has been wanting.
April grinned mischievously.
She reciprocated his actions, and they just existed. Peacefully, in each others' arms.
"...mm, warm." Yuri mumbled.
"Yeah, you say it now? My pillow doesn't give you warmth, you know."
"..it was you." He groaned.
Oh, I get it now. Dude thought the pillow was his girl.
Wah.
