Ace paused slightly and turned his head, but saw nothing.
"Strange… I thought I sensed a Psychic Teleport wave?"
Having been Teleported many times by Sabrina, Ace's perception of those waves was extremely sharp.
Just as he was wondering, a sound suddenly came from the water.

A small yellowish-brown and blue fish burst out of the water, then fell onto the ground, flopping and struggling.
"Oh… what an ugly fish. Is this a Pokémon too?" Chloe picked it up with a hint of distaste.
"It's called Feebas. Although it's ugly now, it'll become very beautiful later~"
Ace explained with a smile, his heartbeat quietly speeding up as he looked at the Feebas.

However, just like Magikarp, Feebas evolves like an ugly duckling becoming a swan.
And that swan is Milotic, known as the most beautiful Pokémon!
Of course, what shocked Ace the most was Feebas's extraordinary talent.
Normally, a Feebas only knows the useless move Splash, but this one not only inherited its full moveset — it even learned two pulse-type moves and Mud Shot.
With its rich control options, its range of utility and offense was comparable to ordinary advanced-level Pokémon.

Mainly, the first wave had been too overwhelming, and the variety in this lake was limited.
They managed to get seven species — still missing one — leaving him somewhat disappointed.
A thought popped into Ace's mind.

Before he could decide, Serena's voice came from behind.
"Ace, come look at this!"
"Hmm? What is it…"
Ace approached and saw a small oval footprint on the last collection page in her hand.
It clearly had three toes and was smaller than a child's palm.
"This is…?"
Ace frowned. This footprint wasn't one they collected… yet it felt strangely familiar.
"Awesome! This footprint is different from the other nineteen! This means we're done!" Chloe exclaimed, flipping through the book excitedly.
"Hmm… that works."
Ace smiled, committing the footprint's appearance to memory for later investigation.
By 5 PM — their pre-set deadline — waves of campers returned from every direction.
Some were covered in dust and scratches, clearly from venturing into deeper areas.
Others looked worried — probably unable to gather enough prints.
By the lake, Ace leaned against a reclining Rapidash, watching Feebas swim calmly in the water.
This Feebas had a quiet personality, but under the Love Ball's effect, it was quite affectionate toward Ace.
Serena and Chloe sat on either side of him, preparing ingredients for dinner.
"Yo, isn't this Ace, who bragged so much? What, giving up already?" Goh strutted toward them, full of self-satisfied swagger.
"Oh… I wondered who was barking. Turns out it's you, you silly dog." Ace lifted his eyelids lazily, firing back without mercy.
"You—!" Goh flushed red. "I already collected 20 types of footprints and submitted them. Give up!"
"You? Didn't Ash help with most of them? How dare you claim you did it all yourself?" Chloe scoffed.
"So what? Without me, Ash couldn't do anything!" Goh said arrogantly.
"Tsk… some people are really pathetic…" Green walked over with arms crossed. "Ace already submitted 20 types at 3 PM. So you're the one who lost."
"What?! Impossible!!" Goh's face turned beet red.
"Although I really don't want to admit it, my brother's right."
Gary walked up next, giving Goh a disdainful stare before looking directly at Ace.
"Compared to someone who only barks, you actually have some real skill. I acknowledge you."
"What did you say?!" Goh exploded.
"If you didn't hear it, too bad. I'm not repeating myself for a deaf guy." Gary shrugged.
"When camp ends, Ace — I want to battle you. Interested?" Red arrived holding a Poké Ball, his eyes burning with challenge.
"Sure. How about a warm-up battle before we leave?" Ace smirked.
As a proper pervert, bullying the protagonist is just standard procedure, isn't it?
"A battle? Count me in!" Ash ran over, pumped up.
Gary: "There's no way something like this happens without me."
Green: "I'll join too. Leaving camp as the Pallet Town champion rookie sounds pretty damn cool."
In an instant, a rivalry formed among the young trainers.
As for Goh — realizing he had absolutely lost — he slunk away in embarrassment.
"Congratulations, everyone! The three-day orienteering challenge has concluded!" Professor Oak announced from the center of camp.
"The top three teams are: Ace, Serena & Chloe, Green & Red, and Ash & Goh!"
Professor Oak continued, "Tomorrow we'll hold the final event: the Pokémon Battle Experience Tournament. The rules are as follows."
Battle Experience Tournament?
Ace, still watching Feebas swim, perked up and listened closely.
The rules stated that each group would battle in turns.
One round was a direct duel between the new Trainers, and the other was a battle commanded by the reserve member of the team.
With eight groups paired off, there would be three rounds — 8 to 4, 4 to 2, then the finals.
Simply put, every teammate needed to show the ability to command, even those who didn't yet have their own Pokémon.
After the explanation, the teenagers exchanged looks — their agreed-upon battles were clearly going to happen sooner than expected.
"In that case, Serena and I need to battle too? Or will we be directing Ace's Pokémon?" Chloe asked, immediately catching the key point.
"It seems so," Serena nodded, excitement building.
She wasn't huge on battling, but since she had the chance, she wanted to try.
"It's fine. You two can handle the first rounds. I'll take the final," Ace grinned.
With Charmeleon and Rapidash's levels, these novice Trainers were basically free wins.
"Ace~!"
At that moment, Nanami walked out of the tent with Clefairy, waving brightly.
"Clef…"
Clefairy looked at Ace, her expression complicated — with obvious shyness.
The previous night's experience had left one hell of a deep impression on her.
