A cloud of yellow-green powder drifted through the air and blanketed a Caterpie.
The little worm wobbled for a moment before dropping into a deep sleep.
Seeing this, Yellow threw a Poké Ball with a serious expression.
"Go!"
Clap… Beep beep beep, ding!
Without suspense, the weakened Caterpie was successfully captured.
"That's great!" The little loli bounced over to Ace, hugging the Poké Ball tightly. "Brother Ace, I have my second Pokémon~"
"Mm~ Yellow is amazing!"

Metapod's battered cocoon cracked open. From within, a pair of magnificent butterfly wings unfurled.
Bathed in a soft white glow, Butterfree flapped its wings and shattered the light, making a dazzling entrance.
"Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokémon. The evolved form of Metapod. It loves the honey of flowers and can locate blooming flowers from afar."
Ash's Pokédex announced confidently. A grin spread across his face.
"Alright, Butterfree! Take them down!"
Ace chuckled and shook his head.
This guy didn't even know what moves Butterfree had learned, yet he shouted commands like that…
Still, that was very Ash-like.
Butterfree scattered Stun Spore across the sky, halting Fearow and the Spearow mid-charge.
Then it followed up with Confusion, coordinating with Pikachu's Thunder Shock to drive the flock away.
"That's great, Butterfree! Thank you~" Ash beamed brightly as he hugged his three Pokémon.
"He actually won?" Ren Ti looked slightly surprised.
"Luck," Matori said coldly, crossing her arms.
To her, watching a child's battle like this was simply a waste of time.
"Luck? Maybe." Ace smiled faintly and stepped forward.
"Yo, Ash. We meet again."
"Ah! It's Ace! When did you get here?" Ash blinked.
Ace's mouth twitched.
Good thing he wasn't really his biological son. If this dimwit were actually his, he'd probably die of anger no.
Even in a parallel world, this was still technically his alternate self's son?
Ace quickly cut off that train of thought. It was too much.
He simply took out a wilderness medical kit and handed it over, along with several Energy Cubes.
"Take these. They'll help you out in the wild. Your mom asked me to give them to you."
"Oh! Thanks!" Ash happily accepted them.
In this world, without Misty constantly traveling with him, Ash had developed decent wilderness survival skills.
There was no need to worry about him misusing the supplies.
"Too bad my Pokémon are exhausted. Otherwise, I'd definitely battle you!" Ash's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Ace smirked, "Next time. How about a father-son match?"
"Huh?"
"If you lose, you call me Dad."
"Afraid of you? I definitely won't lose!" Ash immediately agreed defiantly.
Soon after, he waved goodbye and continued his journey alone.
Ace watched his retreating figure, a faint smile playing on his lips.
He wasn't doing this for Ash.
He was doing it more for Delia.
Sooner or later, his relationship with Delia would become public. Ash might become an obstacle then. It was better to lay some groundwork in advance.
At noon, everyone set up camp.
There was still some distance left before they would exit Viridian Forest. Ideally, they would reach Pewter City before nightfall.
During this time, Matori seemed to have received a message. She kept glancing at Ace, hesitating as if she wanted to say something.
Ace naturally noticed her abnormal behavior but showed no reaction. He simply focused on training his Pokémon.

This allowed them not only to strengthen moves, but even alter how those moves manifested.
For instance, Houndour's Howl could complete its power boost in a short burst. If extended properly, it could even create a sustained amplification effect.
This discovery made Ace pay even closer attention to move training.
At that moment, Matori finally couldn't hold back. She walked over, clutching the hem of her miniskirt slightly, her voice shy.
