"It would seem that your daughter has grown rather close with the target Sir Callahan." A voice echoed through Callahan's office. "What does this have to do with the report?" Callahan asked, his face flat and his fingers clasped.
"As for the report." The individual that sat across from Callahan produced photos and a flash drive ,sliding them across the table. The photos detailing Andrew either alone or with people like Claire, Brittany, Claire or Kevin. "Do you have a further detailed analysis of his life? How deep his connection is with those around him."
The voice cleared, taking a short inhale. "Yes, it would seem from what I've seen is that Connor is using Claire as proxy given their fan fair to the carnival trying to gauge just what Andrew is. The relationship between these two isn't that of a genuine relationship, as for Andrew and Kevin…"
Photos of Andrew and Kevin now pointed at, "It would seem that there's an unspoken rift between the two. If not for Kevin then I wouldn't have realized it myself." The voice came to a halt, the person locking eyes with Callahan before further sliding the flash stick closer to Callahan.
"The relationship between Andrew and Brittany seems to be the most intimate. With him constantly coming over and at school grounds the two often seen together as well as multiple dates." Numerous photos of the two coming into Callahan's vision.
Callahan seem gave an approving nod, pleased with the work given. "That's good however what about the people backing him?" A strange silence settled in between the two of them. "Strangely enough Andrew hasn't been as random when he leaves and his calls are encrypted, even as someone of my level, it'll take months before I can tap his phone."
Callahan rose from his seat, reaching for one of the many books behind him. "Maya, this is the sole reason why I had you watch over him. If you can't get something so simple like this then I'll be required to look for other people."
Maya, a lady who was in her mid-thirties faced the composed Callahan. She had bold black hair wrapped in a bob, fierce obsidian eyes that glimmered with determination and wearing a charcoal trench coat accompanied with leather gloves and navy black jeans. "I'm trying my best Sir Callahan but it would seem if not for those around him then Andrew's nothing more than a blank canvas. He doesn't show any emotion, any interest and no hobbies whatsoever. The only thing that resembles interest that he has is your daughter."
Callahan who was mindlessly perusing through the pages shut the book and placed it back on it's shelf. "You say that he's a blank canvas but you're forgetting one simple thing. He's still human. He has flaws, limits and many more. I don't care what you do at this point, just make sure that you get him to crack and confess. Oh, and when he's with my daughter, please don't follow them."
Maya, the ex-FBI didn't question it as she gave a low nod and excused herself. 'Andrew Grayson, you're no doubt the most interesting case I've faced in a while.' Maya concluded as she left the Voss mansion and sped off in her car that blended into the night.
. . .
"What do you mean shes's missing?" Clara's worried tone rippled through the precinct. Officers stole at her direction, aware of what she was going through. "We're doing our best to find her but so far nothing has come up." The officer urged, their tone measured and cautious. Accompanying Clara were Kevin and Andrew.
"From the witnesses, they say that Lara ran away after allegedly trying to kill her boyfriend Jasper Calder. However Jasper was then found dead the very next morning. His corpse hanging from the ceiling with a note at the scene. "There's no need to worry about Lara Grale." The cop produced a picture of said note to the three.
"I can't believe that this is happening…" Clara said, her throat drying up as her crumpling figure was caught by Kevin who wrapped his arms around her with the attempt of consoling her. Andrew watched the mother and son duo, the former sobbing and tearing while the latter cooed promises about Lara being okay.
Connor made their way to them , clearly shocked with their presence. "What happened?' His question shot at Andrew only for Kevin to reply. "Lara's missing, my older sister and her boyfriend was found dead." Connor's face shifted into one of loss, the only one out of place being Andrew as he watched the waterworks quickly gain traction at the precinct.
"I'm so sorry for your loss." He began however he would quickly steal glances at Andrew who was absorbed with Clara and Kevin. "Well I'm sure that Lara should be found within a matter of time. With her disappearances happening after the mysterious. Incidents." Connor's words doing nothing to ease Clara.
"What do you have on this case?" Connor turned grim, now facing the officer. "So far other than the note, the only thing that we've found is a tranquilizing dart where we believe Lara had chosen to spend the night." The dart wrapped up in plastic and brought to Connor.
"Very well, I'll be taking over this case. Miss Clara, I'll make sure tha Lara arrives back home safely." Clara who was buried in Kevin's embrace turned and faced the detective, her mascara running. "Thanks a lot detective for doing so much for us."
Her cries dying into sniffles. "Well as much as I would like focus on this for now, I have other matters to concern myself with but I'll make sure that your case is solved Miss Clara. After all the issue of the pursuit has yet to be properly solved, with one of the suspected racers found and the other still missing."
Clara's sniffles died in her throat, Andrew who was now under Connor's gaze had his signature apathetic visage. "A shame." Was all he managed to say before falling back into his silence. Kevin however narrowed his eyes, feeling the tension between the two before Connor left.
"Hey Andrew, could you help mom make her way back to the car, I have to use the bathroom before we go." Andrew did as told, helping Clara back to the car but Kevin had other plans.
. . .
"Andrew's the other racer!" Kevin blurted out the moment he entered Connor's office. A strange odd silence settling in between the two. "What?" Kevin repeated his words once more, his face straight. "Andrew was the one who involved in the pursuit!"A look of surprise washed on Connor's face, his frame crashing into his seat.
"And what's the pleasure I owe for this confession?" Connor's tone dripping with amusement as he bore into Kevin's figure. "Isn't it my duty as a citizen to make sure that justice is being up held? So are you going to bring him in or what?" Kevin looking at Connor's reaction wasn't what he had expected . "Look kid, I already know that Andrew's the one affiliated with the pursuit."
A deep frown found it's way onto Kevin's face. "If you know this then why do you let him just walk Scott free then?" The reason behind Connor's judgement baffling him. "Given the fact that you've brought yourself here means that your relationship with Andrew isn't up to code and well Andrew already has another case currently on going."
Kevin was taken aback, now Connor gesturing at him to take a seat. "And in this case we need some inside eyes given his peculiar nature, I'm sure I don't need to explain why with you."Sensing Kevin's lack of interest, Connor went straight to his point. "It is suspected that Andrew has a hand with the disappearances. I don't know whether you know about the money."
'Andrew responsible for the disappearances of hundreds?' Kevin's brows furrowing. "Don't you find it odd that when he came back, shortly after such incidents started to emerge? It's only after a few days ago that they stopped. It's clear that he knows he's been watched thus we need someone he won't suspect to do this."
It was then that it began to click for Kevin. He was still stunned with how Andrew was connected to the kidnappings but he didn't think about it too much because of one reason. "When you do prove that he is related, how long will be his sentence?" Connor paused, certain that the relationship between the two most certainly was deteriorating. "He could face life sentence without debate, if not then something about eighty years of prison time."
Kevin narrowed his eyes, now looking at his hands. 'To think that the oh so perfect Andrew had such a dangerous guillotine looming over him. If it is proved he's tied to all of this, then I won't have to worry about him taking over my life.' A slow laugh escaped his lips, the image of Andrew being sent to prison. 'Let's see if you're still going to wear that mask of apathy then Andrew.'
After relayed on what to do by Connor, he agreed to be the inside guy meant to monitor Andrew. "You have to go on with how your life already is, you can' suddenly show interest in him out of the blue or he'll think that something's up."
Kevin gave a nod before rising, ready to leave. "Thank you Kevin Grale for stepping up and making sure that justice is being upheld. A monster like Andrew must face accountability for splitting up families and causing immeasurable sorrow to the city of Stillwater." Kevin paused, his hand on the handle and the door half open. "Of course, a person like Andrew must be sent to jail!"
. . .
Connor who was about to lose himself in more security tapes received a call. 'An unknown number?' Placing this phone to his free hand began to unfold cassette tapes on his table. "Connor Hale, it's clear that we have similar interests in taking down Andrew thus why don't we work together and dissect this abnormality?" The other end of the voice heavily distorted making it hard to guess the original voice gender.
"Who is this?" His question met with a location. "Come down below and at the end of the street you'll see a car parked." Any more inquiries were met with an end to the call. 'Just when I thought that this case couldn't get any crazier. I still can't believe that Kevin would sell out Andrew like that so easily.'
Clearing his table, he closed his office and left the precinct. As told, a car was parked. "Who are you and who do you work for?" The soft click of the door opened, the voice inside ordering him to enter the car. He took a long pause before stepping in.
The car didn't rush but rather did laps around the precinct before storming off into the darkness. Connor was still able to see the world outside, making it clear that it wasn't a kidnapping and given that it was one person, he felt confident with his skills in escaping his situation.
The car drove into a parking lot in the city, the engine dying and silence settled in between the two figures. "So are you going to talk now or not?" Connor was the first one to break the ice. "Of course, the driver seating next to Connor took off their hood and voice modulator revealing a feminine face. "I'm with the FBI." Reaching for her pocket which Connor had thought would be a gun, it only raised more questions than answers.
"If you're with the FBI then why are you so secretive about this?" Maya returned her badge, her face already expecting Connor's barraging inquiries. "Andrew. We are both trying to achieve the same goal so why not work together in trying to crack him? I've already seen that you've roped in Kevin so you're not completely useless."
