Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: A Plan Against The Inhuman

"We think that he may not be human. It's the only explanation for some of the things that he's capable of." Claire said, her eyes narrowing on Brittany trying to pick up on her features. "I suspected something of the sort, anything else?" Still, Brittany kept her usual smile which began to irk Eliot. "If you did then why didn't tell us anything? I thought that you were helping us!"

His tone enraged with his hands slamming on the table. "It was something I already assumed you concluded on your end so I didn't bother to say it. If you didn't then my bad." Eliot let out a frustrated with this side of Brittany. 'And here I thought that she had finally matured, turns out she being conservative with her thoughts did not correlate.'

Claire intervened, her facial features etched with concern. "Putting the past behind us, it would be best to navigate the situation from here. We believe that he could be a super human who is being monitored and we are nothing more than guinea pigs in the process. Who's to say that they won't get rid of us once this whole experimentation is over?"

Brittany narrowed her brows, as if for the first time it began to dawn on her. 'He said that it was nothing more than a game and all I had to do was be greedy with him. As for these people, they could die for all I care, I just know that I'll be fine.' Her hand resting on her chin. "Well that's rather grim to think about, so what did you have in mind?"

Claire and Eliot looked at each other. "Could we go to a more secluded spot to talk about this then?" Brittany inwardly scoffed. 'They really think that whispers will be enough to hide their plans from Andrew. However I do have to say that my interest has piqued from this exchange.' The three rose and made their way to one of the empty music classrooms.

"Alright, the plan that we have is to…" Eliot paused, as if checking that there was no one else overhearing them, his voice dropping. "..Kill Andrew. If we were to kill him then this whole test that they have going on will end. With no test subject, the experiment can't continue." Silence settled, Brittany's face indiscernible before her response ca,e. Not with words but an action.

"Hahahahahaha!! That's a good one!" Her usual mask of composure cracked revealing a deep mocking guffaw shot at the pair. "What's so funny about this?" Claire was the one to ask. "I'm….Hahahaha!!….It's just so ridiculous what you just told me! Kill Andrew? That's a good one!" Brittany said, wiping a tear off her cheek.

"Sure he may be difficult to face but that doesn't make him invulnerable to a gun shot. If he really can withstand one then an entire clip. Knock him out using drugs and sever his head off! The possibilities of killing him are many!" Eliot urged, now growing irritated of Brittany's laughs every once in a while. "Or is he immortal that we can't kill him?"

Brittany after letting out her last laugh went back to wearing her usual simple smile. "I doubt that he's immortal however how sure are you that your plans will succeed. He was able to decipher that Claire was sent by her uncle relatively quickly so what makes him unable to decipher any other plans. It should be obvious to him by now that something's up given his closest proxy, Kevin has been rather absent at home which would make him harder to lure out."

The two now started to realize the cause of Brittany's laugh. "Still, we can't just keep on playing this game where we'll lose sooner or later." Brittany seemed unbothered with the words thrown at her, her laugh still lingering in her smile etched on her lips. "Well since you do say that you want to kill Andrew, what plan do you have?"

Brittany's question was met with silence eliciting a shorter laugh. "Come on! Don't tell me you have such a grand and bold idea and yet you have no way of making it come true?" Her tone half sarcastic, half amused. "We're still planning this why we approached you, we wanted to ask you since you're the one closest to him if he has any flaws other than the usual flawless record of mundane tasks."

Cracking her neck, Brittany rose and made her way to the window, her back now facing the two. "I would say that he's bad at talking with other people but his debate side has rendered me speechless so…he sucks at comforting other people in grief. Claire, I'm sure you could attest to this." Brittany turned to face Claire who had a neutral curve on her lips.

"No shit Brittany. We want other flaws. Like what does he suck at!" Brittany fell silent before helplessly raising her hands in the air. "I….can't come up with a flaw though if we're trying to kill him, maybe we should just overwhelm him with numbers or drug him. The former seemed to do wonders from the fight and we saw that he can bleed."

Eliot let out sigh, as if aware that their trip to meet Brittany would be pointless. "Let's just go the best route and drug him then throw him off a cliff or have him shot. Interrogating him or keeping him alive would only invite chaos from those watching." Brittany let out a hum, cutting through the air.

"No, I doubt that he wouldn't have a tracker on him. If we kept him unconscious, whose to say that we won't be attacked? It would be best to do it at once. Meet and kill him in one go. Like a sniper hanging around or if you want to drug him have that it kills him immediately." The two looked at each other, gnashing their teeth at this realization.

"I guess it wasn't a complete waste of time coming to meet you." Eliot said, along with Claire rising to their feet. "Thanks a lot Brittany and I hope that we can get out of this, all of us." Brittany was now facing the two, her smile still there. "Of course, I hope that this is what we need because if it's not then we'll be in deep shit!"

The pair left Brittany alone who turned to face the window. 'They don't know that shooting him would yield no threat. I wonder the looks on their face when they see him walking after that. Or drugging him with foam coming out of his mouth and still talking like nothing ever happened. I wonder how Andrew will deal with this, when he's now the target instead of the predator.'

. . .

"Are you sure that taking him out is the only way that we could go about this? What about a negotiation?" Claire asked Eliot, the two on the bus on their way back home. "Interrogation? They could knock us out with tranquilizers or take our families hostage. It would be best to kill Andrew once and for all, if they choose to kill us, then we wouldn't have gone down without a fight."

Claire stared out the window, her reflection looking back at her. 'I never thought that I would be planning a murder like this. Hell I never thought that I would be facing someone like Andrew to begin with.' She cupped her face, the bus they were in coming to a stop before resuming with it's journey. "So how will we…you know. Kill him." Her voice low despite the bus being barely full. Other than them in the back, the other person was all the way at the front. "That I still don't know about but it would be best to talk about this with the others."

The bus stopped once more, this time Claire got off and on her way bid Eliot goodbye. 'I always knew that there was something sketchy about Andrew the moment I saw him. I still find it absurd that he could be related to all of this.' His gaze drifted down to his hands before the bus stopped once more, a figure boarded and made their way to the seat in front of Eliot.

"Eliot, you've been quite a nuisance." The source of the voice began which caught Eliot off guard. "We know all about Andrew!" The voice let out a chuckle, it was now that Eliot realized that it was a lady, her voice dangerously cold. "Andrew? I doubt you know anything about my master." Eliot wanted to press on, reaching for his phone to call for help but his vision suddenly began to grow blurry. "It's a sin for you to even casually talk about my master like he's a puzzle to solve. If not for my orders I would have already killed each and every one of you."

Eliot's head crashed onto the headrest, the last image he saw was the figure rising and making their way to his seat, a look of apathy to their face.

. . .

"How have your injuries been?" Kevin asked, his tone however was rather flat lacking any interest. "Should be healed by tomorrow." Andrew said, in his hand a book yet to look at Kevin. "People at school were talking about you, talked about how you were able to fend for yourself before you got packed up! In a way you are kind of famous at school so expect a lot of attention on you."

Kevin's bag crashed on to the floor, his figure headed to his bedroom. It wasn't long before Kevin came rushing back to the dining table. "What the fuck happened to Lara's bed and why is her decorations removed?" His face with a look of rage shouted at Andrew. "Your mother told me that with Lara yet to come back that I could take over her room. She insisted given how our relationship has been as of late. Said that we needed some space from each other."

Kevin's balled hands slammed on the table, Andrew had yet to look at him. "That's Lara's room and it'll stay that way whether she's here or not." Andrew finally looked up, his words casual. "She's not here thus I'll be taking her room. Or do you wish that we keep on sharing the same room?" Kevin brushed over his words. "You could sleep on the couch. You've been here to be no longer a guest and one of us. Not that you sleep anyway but still!"

Andrew didn't bother in engaging any further, his focus drifting back to his book and Kevin realizing this stormed off, cursing as he went.

[{Claire: Have any of you managed to get in touch with Eliot?}]

Kevin who was done with shower and was chilling on the couch looked around for Andrew before responding.

[{Kevin: No I haven't.}]

[{Jason: Last time I saw him was with you guys}]

Kevin's heart grew restless, a drop of sweat rolling down his forehead.

[{Kevin: Have they began targeting us because of our plan?}]

[{Jason: Seems so, then we have to come up with a plan of doing what we had planned.}]

[{Claire: I talked to my uncle and he said that he would like all of us to meet this weekend to go over the plan}]

[{Kevin: I'll be there but I do worry if they start to go for people close to us}]

[{Jason: Then we better be quick.}]

Placing his phone down, Kevin made his way to what used to be Lara's room now made to be Andrew's room. There were no colors that stood out, the pink and black that had been present before now swapped with white and black which gave the room a minimalist feel. No tiny decorations, nothing on the shelves other than what needed to be there. The more Kevin looked around, the more it felt like a dentist waiting room than an actual bedroom.

"Andrew…" Kevin said, his hands twiddling as he inched closer to the bed. "Yes Kevin?" Andrew on the bed inquired, book at hand seated at the edge of the bed. No slouched posture or dangling legs, just an upright and stationary form.
