Lara was watching the news, now all freshened up after her bath in which she had found her broken leg was healed. 'I guess his blood does more than soothe head aches.' She mused as she flickered through the channels. "It would seem that there was an attack on one of the check points, citizens are urged to preserve caution!"
One of the newscasters said with a tone of urgency and concern. "Though it is still unknown of the murder weapon, coroners state that it was a blade of some kind. Something small like a pocket knife or a scalpel." The words sent shivers down Lara's spine, invested with what was being said. "The death of the three officers is suspected to be about 12 pm to 2 pm. Though there are no more clues, it is safe to say that there are dangerous people lurking about!"
Another chimed in, Lara's focus drifting to Andrew who was preparing dinner. "You're on the news." Her voice filling the air. "They won't find anything." His words though flat had a tone of arrogance to them. "What makes you so sure?" Lara asked back, her focus on the television thinning. "Because there's nothing I left for them to work with."
Lara turned back to the television, unnerved with Andrew's words. The newscasters seemed to confirm his words as no more clues could be found at the crime scene. 'I still can't believe that Andrew killed them! I didn't know that he had escaped the precinct before this whole thing happened! What did he do for him to be arrested to begin with?'
She stole glances at Andrew here and there before she moved to the dining table where the two had their meal. "You said that hesitation would be the death of me but don't you take some time before taking out your scalpels from their case? A gunshot could easily kill you by then."
*Swish*
The sound of blade slicing through flesh could be heard, his scalpels revealed to be inside his chest near his heart which nearly made Lara spit out her meal. Her face grimaced, shocked with where he kept his arsenal. "I…I have no words." She let out a sigh before turning back to her meal. "We're going hunting once more, this time you won't hesitate." His words made her heart drop. She was still processing the agony and pain she had been put through that day and here Andrew was, saying that she would have to go through all of that again.
"Are you fucking serious Andrew? There's no way that I'm going on a hunt!" The sounds of cutlery grazing the plates could be heard. "Then I take it that you're forfeiting then." His words eliciting a frown out of Lara. "I'm not a fucking child for you to be throwing that word around with the hopes that I'll do whatever you want Andrew. I won't kill people and have you say that I'm forfeiting. Unlike you, I have standards!"
Andrew glanced at her, not with fury as he placed his fork and knife down. "Then I'll be required to kill you. I have no use for a person who has no intention of living." Lara let out a sigh, thinking that it was one of his ploys into forcing her to do his bidding.
*Whoosh*
A warm sensation trickled down her neck, one that caught her by surprise and touching it, her eyes widened in shock as she realized that it was her own blood. "You actually dared to- Of course a monster like you would-"
Another followed, the gleam of his scalpels lasting for no more than a second in her vision before grazing the other side of her neck. "You can leave then if you're not willing to do another hunt Lara. You'll die eventually." The third didn't come, the first two going back to his heart. 'He can't actually kill me outright. After all he's the only person when it comes to a family that he has.'
A sly smile formed on her lips while Andrew ate away. "Once you're done with your meal, leave or I will torture you into leaving." She scoffed at his words, her smile growing. "I know that you won't actually kill me, as for torturing me, it's only fitting for a monster like you!" His hands reached for his plate, done with dinner and sat back down.
Lara looked at Andrew, her jaw tightening while her tight smile persisted. "Face it Andrew, I'm the only family you have left. There's no way that you lay your hands on me. Just accept that for once things aren't going your way." Andrew looked at the wall, the ticking of a clock meeting his gaze before drifting back to Lara. 'Do you think I won't expose the things you've done? The murder? Torture? If I leave you're as good as dead Andrew!'
Lara's smile grew wider, pushing her plate away from her. Andrew noticing this rose to his feet forcing Lara to stand as well. "Get the fuck away from me Andrew!" She dashed to the telephone. "It won't take long for the cops to get here! So don't try anything stupid!"
*Whoosh*
His scalpel flew through the air once more, cutting off the telephone line making Lara's smile drop. She reached out to her phone, another that Andrew had bought but before she could dial a number, another flicker of his scalpel shattered her phone. "Wait! You said that you wanted me to leave right, so I'll leave you and your sick games with Brittany!" Her tone laced with fear as she looked at the monster with blades hovering around him.
She began to inch towards the exit, he didn't stop her before she left the mansion. Andrew didn't chase her, letting the silence sit as his blades went back to his heart and picked up her plate and cleared it.
. . .
'Looks like he isn't as smart for him to let me leave like this!' Lara concluded as she was now walking through the streets, alone in the neighbourhood of luxurious mansions. Leaving the estates, it wasn't long before she ran into a checkpoint. "Lady, it's getting late and with the enforced curfew, do you mind explaining what you're doing out at this time?" One of the officers inquired, their gear far more formal and military grade than the last encounter.
"I just escaped a killer! He's capable of wielding-" Her face was covered in blood, the man's head rolling to the floor. The other four officers aimed their guns at Lara. "You, lay flat on the ground with your arms behind your back!" One of them barked. 'Why is he here?' Was the question Lara asked herself as she complied with the order.
*Thud*
Another officer fell to the ground which left the remaining three stunned. "What are you doing lady? If you are behind this, we won't hesitate to use lethal force!" Lara's face quickly turned sour. "This isn't me, it's him. Andrew Grayson. One of the escapees from the precinct!"
*Thud*
*Thud*
Two more dropped leaving only one alive, their body tense with fear with their grip on the gun ready to fire.
*Bang*
The officer shot Lara on hr shoulder sending jolts of pain all over her body. 'I can't believe that this officer shot me!' Lara cursed inwardly as the officer was forced onto his knees by one of Andrew's scalpels.
"ARRRGHHH!!! I'll shoot you again lady! I will kill you if you-"
*Whoosh*
A scalpel cut through the air and pinned itself onto the man's gun, forcing the officer to be stapled to the gun, unable to let go. "ARRGHH!!" The officer was ready to take the shot before another came and cut off one of the officer's eye. Lara who was still processing the pain plaguing her senses realized what Andrew was planning. 'He wants me to kill him! I won't do it!' She grit her teeth, forcing herself to look down while the officer clutched his bleeding eye.
"You leave me no choice lady, I will have to put an end to your life!" The man aimed the gun on Lara's figure but before he could pull the trigger, his head was cut off.
*Thud*
All three scalpels were called back into the darkness, Lara now bleeding on the concrete floor was left shivering before she dared to look up. 'He really did kill all of them!' Her heart racing as she scrambled to get back on her feet. "Andrew! I know you're there and I won't kill other people like you want! I'm not some toy that you can push and prod!" Silence of the night was her response, realizing that Andrew wouldn't make his appearance, she went inside the tent to call for help but similar to the phone, a scalpel broke it in two.
'Is he going to keep his eye on me like this?' A brutal realization dawned on Lara as she looked around, trying to find anything she could use to call for help. "I'll just go to the precinct from here and report him. I doubt that he would have the ability to kill so many in broad daylight!"
From the check point, she started making her way to the precinct, any other people that she would try to reach out for help would meet their demise in an instant. 'It's been thirty minutes and he's still following me! Just for how long could you keep on my trail Andrew? As for his scalpels, they are way too random for me to determine where exactly he is, they swoop in from any direction, half the time I can't even see them.'
. . .
Lara turned a corner and arrived at the precinct. Armed cops could be seen all over. By now it was nearing dawn, faint rays of light could be seen pierce the darkness. "Help!!" She cried out, her presence quickly attracting attention from the officers who showed faces of suspicion and concern. "Keep your distance and state your business!" One of them said, their guns aimed at Lara. "I have a case to report, no murder! It's about an individual cal-"
*Thud*
*Thud*
*Thud*
It wasn't one or two officers but every cop in the vicinity who was being targeted, falling like flies by an invisible reaper. "Back up or we will shoot!" One of them urged before their life was taken, scalpels bounced from one officer to the next, their unpredictable pattern something Lara couldn't see as the air began to grow with tension. "Officers, fire at will!" The order made Lara's heart drop as she began to slowly back away.
*Bang-Bang-Bang-Bang*
A multitude of firearms, be it assault rifles or hand guns were shot at Lara who was ready to face death. 'Am I going to die here? To think that I was only trying to help turn in a dangerous person like Andrew would have me face my demise!' She nearly laughed at the absurdity, her body tensing, waiting to be peppered by bullets.
Her eyes closed slowly opened when minutes lapsed and no pain assaulted her body. The sound of bullets being fired slowly began to die out till nothing but silence hang in the air. Rather astoundingly, bullets froze in front her. An uncountable amount which after some time all dropped to the ground. Looking at the officers, none of them were alive, all slumped to the ground.
"Oh my goodness…" The stench of blood hit her hard and unable to contain herself she vomited. "Arghh!!" Her eyes teary as she looked back at the small sea of bodies and blood staining the ground and the stench unbearable. 'I…to think that he would actually kill all of them.' Her face etched with a look of disbelief. 'Should I go inside or will he kill them as well?' She recalled her trip so far, any one that she has tried to talk to would end up dead.
'At this point I'm nothing more than a walking curse! Any one I meet will die.' Her breathes heavy before she broke into tears.
