"How can you still do this if you know about the dark zone?" I refuse to let go of Satoshi until he properly turns around to look down at me.
"It pays the bills." He says curtly before walking away.
"Stop doing that!" I run in front of him. "Why can we never just talk?!" Even when he learns I'm Kaiju boy we barley speak.
"What do you want me to say?" He tilts his head. "You asked a question and I answered it. I don't exactly agree with some of the forces policies but I'm not gonna question the hand that feeds us." Again he tried to push past me. I feel Allister about to leap out.
"What if it was me?!" I push his chest and he stumbles back. He looks at me with surprise, my teeth growing sharper and my eyes a distinct pink. "What if they had taken me?! Would you stop it?! Why don't you care about me?! It's only ever a few words when you care to talk at all! Did I not prove myself already?!" His shock is replaced with anger the longer I speak. "What do I need to do to make you see me?! I'm not weak anymore! What did I do?!".
"You remind me of them!" He finally explodes and grabs my shoulders with a force that I wasn't expecting. "Every time I look at you I see them leaving!".
"Who?!".
"Our parents you fucking idiot!" Oh. He never told me about them. No one ever did. He takes a deep breath. "When we were travelling here by boat, mom gave birth to you. You have horns Haruo. A womb isn't meant to deal with something like that. You gave her horrible internal wounds. When we got to land she had to fight someone to protect us. But the wounds she got from you caused her death." What? I wouldn't do that.
"Do you actually believe that?" It's a lot to take in. "Wait no. Where our father then? Wait again. Is that why you don't talk to me? No actually, how was I even born if it was that horrible?" I have so many questions.
"You need to understand. You were one of the first Kaiju children we had encountered. People thought you were a demon. The only other we thought was close to your case was an old family friend that disappeared a while back. Said she was a witch or something." What? "Looking back she may have been a bit nuts.".
"What do you mean you were friends with a witch?!".
"I was five. Hardly a friendship. But yeah. She did some weird shit to get you out the womb safely. Well, relatively speaking. She did die later.".
"I cannot stress how important it is that you shut up and tell me everything you can about her!".
"That doesn't make any sense!".
"Now!".
"I tell you about our dead mum and you wanna hear about some lady I haven't seen in 20 years?!".
"Yes! I've already met a witch in my dreams! I need to know!" He blinks very slowly.
"What the hell does that mean?!".
"Just tell me!".
"Fuck off! I didn't realise you were this crazy!" Oh because the super powered cosplay was so well adjusted!
"You stabbed me with a sword! You are not one to talk!".
"Because it's fun! That's not a hard concept!" Not as hard as the sword. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I can feel the wand vibrate the more worked up I get. I can't risk anything happening here.
"Just tell him about the witch." Allisters head pops out the bag and rests in my shoulder.
"Are you kidding me right now?" I hang my head low. This was a massive mistake. I shouldn't have tried to talk to Satoshi. I should have just stuck to the status quo.
"Is that talking cat?" Satoshi asks.
"Technically it's a kaiju that came from the heart I was studying and didnt tell you about. He works for a witch who's teaching me how to save the world from lord star fall." I don't even care anymore.
"Your worse than I thought." Well he's taking it better than I thought he would.
"You know about the dark zone and still work for the ranger force." I glare up at him. "Now tell me about the witch.".
"How can it talk?".
"Now!" I yell and feel the metal walls around us bend slightly. Satoshi slides back slightly and reaches to his waste. He realises his sword isn't there and grimaces.
"Her name was Morrigan. She didn't say much about herself. All I can say for certain is that she was definitely in love with our mum." Huh. Wonder if that worked out. "Oh, and she had two sisters, one named Lancelot and one named Louhi." I think Allister hisses but I don't pay attention to that.
"…" I taste blood in my mouth from a cut on my tongue, my teeth are getting sharper again.
"Weird names. I think they were doing a theme or something.".
"Are you sure her name is Louhi?" At this point the walls are cracking from whatever's pushing them.
"Yeah." Satoshi starts to grin in the same way he did when we fought.
"Thank you." I whisper, afraid of what another outburst might do, I don't know what's happening to me but I know I don't like it. I've heard the name Lancelot as well. I'd forgotten about that dream with everything that's happened. As I think the pressure seems to disappear. Satoshi walks past me while I try to get my bearings.
"I don't know what's going on with you. Just don't cause problems for everyone." Might be a bit late there.
"Ok." Is all I have to say. He took the talking Kaiju better than I thought he would at least.
"Haruo?" I immediately turn around when I hear Howletts voice. I see him, Lola, Boba and Shen with shocked looks on their faces. They've seen my glowing pink eyes. "What the hells going on with you man?" I freeze, I have no idea how to handle this situation.
"Did you take your own supply? Never a good idea." Lola says and her brother nods sagely.
"I- uh.".
"He's Kaiju boy." Shen puts it together first. "Haruo is the one who brutalised the instructor." It's hard to get a read on how he's feeling. His wings are shockingly still.
"Yeah." I mumble. The creaking of the metal around me is faint but present. Shen seems to be the only one of the group unconcerned with that. "Where are the others?!" He dashes towards me and grabs my shoulders.
"Who?!".
"My friends! Kaiju boy was the most likely suspect! What did you do with them?!" His feathers detach from his wings and point at my throat.
"That's enough Shen!" Howlet growls and begins his transformation. Allister leaps out of my bag. I can sense killing intent in his flame. Oh, of course I can sense that now. A quick shift into his human form is all it takes for Allister ti act. He's surprisingly restrained and only slices Shens cheek with a knife. He flies back to the others and Allister defensively stands in front of me.
"Who the hell is that?!" Lola asks.
"I put both of your friends in the cave under my house!" My panic is causing me to lag behind in the conversation. "They attacked me so I knocked them out and was waiting to ask some questions! I swear I wasn't going to hurt them!" They all just look bewildered.
"You said both. What about the other two?" Shen asks.
"Wait. It was all four?" Oh that's not good.
"Seriously who is that?" Lola asks again.
"I don't need to know my name." Is all Allister has to say.
"Haruo. What else have you been lying about." I wish I could just sink into the floor. It would be better than hearing that from Howlett.
"Let's leave. We don't need others seeing you like this." Allister tells me. I nod, no energy left to resist the idea.
"Wait a second!" Shen shouts. I grab Allisters wrist instinctively, not want Shen to be sliced again. "How did you get like this? You were the weakest Kaiju child in the rankings. How did you overtake me? How do I become like you?!" I just stare back him.
"I don't know. I'm sorry." The shouting from earlier has left my voice hoarse but I hardly think that matters. "You should all leave this alone. I don't want you getting hurt." With that I walk away with Allister. Whatever the others are shouting is irrelevant at this point. When we make it to the entrance of the facility the now very much a cat hops back into his designated spot. For safeties sake I take the wand out and place it in my pocket. Luckily the train is there, I don't want to have to wait here any longer. I board it and look back to make sure no one is following me. I hope Lilith and Misty don't hear about this. I turn around and find a seat when the doors begin to close. That was my first mistake. I hear a thud and look over to see Shen laying on the floor when we depart. "Are you kidding me?" Will he really not stop this?
"We're not through." He stands up.
"Look I'm sorry but I'm going to let your friends out when I'm home." Well I say that but it's not like I left anything to stop them. If they wake up they can just walk out.
"We will get to that later! Tell me how you got so strong!" Allister pops his head out again. I lean back to give him a light nudge, just to indicate that I don't want him to try and cut Shen again.
"Fine." I'm clearly terrible with secrets anyway. "A few months ago Allister attacked me in a cave and I found a wand." I take it out of my pocket so he can see it. "It's what lets me do kaiju big stuff. I don't actually contribute to anything." I try to be as honest as I can be, but I can see that he's getting annoyed. "And again, I don't know where it came from." I make sure to emphasise the most important detail. He mulls over the information for a second.
"Ok." Oh nice he believes me. "Please give it to me." He slowly walks over.
"…no sorry." I don't know if means he wants to look at it or take it permanently but I don't feel comfortable giving the wand up right now. When he reaches for it I pull away until he grabs my wrist. For a moment the only sound is the light humming of the train on the track.
"Come on." His voice is annoyed but it feels like he wants to stay calm. "Think about it. If someone as weak as you can get this strong, think about what Liliths rival could do with it. I could finally overcome her and stop the kaiju once and for all." I kinda doubt the wand would make a difference against Lilith to be honest. Before I can retort though blood splatters into my face. His heart is crushed right in front of me and he falls to the floor, bloody croaks are all that escape his lips.
"Wait. Why didn't I just destroy his head? Damnit I'm sorry, that was cruel." Jormy looks at her bloody hand with remorse.
"Shen!" I yell. As soon as I start to transform though the wand disappears from my hand. Jormy is suddenly next to me with it in her hand. I don't even think about that and drop to the ground. I place my hands over the hole in Shen and activate my ability. "Why?!" I scream. "Why would you do that?! How does this help lord star fall?!" I just don't understand these people. Silence reigns over us for a second before Jormy sighs.
"Is she really still telling that story?".
