Chapter 237 - Steve's Heartache

Today was Raven's happiest day.

She received the first and best gift of her life. Then she had a very memorable feast with a king big brother.

She ate so, so much, things she had seen before but never dared to steal and eat. For the first time, she ate her fill without any worries.

Although Raven didn't understand many things yet, a thought formed in her mind: how wonderful it would be if time could stay frozen at this moment?

But she knew that the world would not revolve around her will.

After today, she would return to her old life, a wandering "thief."

Thinking of this, the smile on Raven's face faded. But she tried her best not to show it.

She had already received the most beautiful things.

Children shouldn't be too greedy.

Greed was the devil's scheme, she couldn't say anything that would make Aaron uncomfortable.

After all, Aaron was so mysterious and outstanding. Whether he was a handsome Angel descended to the mortal realm, or the Christmas man who gave her a Christmas gift, or a foreign traveler visiting the U.S., he would eventually leave.

Aaron sensed Raven's inner thoughts. However, he couldn't make any promises now. After all, he hadn't yet figured out how to deal with Mystique.

He couldn't stay in this world for decades and if he took Mystique, a world without Mystique might head in an unpredictable direction. Even he couldn't predict that.

After some thought, he came up with a plan but he couldn't tell Raven yet.

He stroked Raven's head.

Raven looked up, trying hard to control her emotions.

It was already night.

Aaron was about to meet a beautiful sister.

And she... was a bothersome child.

Raven looked around. Her body rapidly expanded, transforming into the likeness of Peggy Carter. Her demeanor, appearance, and clothing were identical.

"Big brother, don't I look like her?" 'Peggy' smiled charmingly, pursing her red lips.

Raven's transformation ability was truly amazing and she could even copy a person's aura.

Aside from genetic-level detection, her disguise was flawless.

However, Aaron knew that the Peggy in front of him was actually a ten-year-old girl.

Aaron's fingers rubbed Peggy's smooth cheek. Peggy instantly broke character, transforming back into Raven.

"Alright, you are you, you don't need to pretend to be Peggy, understand?"

Raven whispered, "But... I saw that you really like this big sister."

"I don't have a gift to give you, so I thought I'd transform into big sister to accompany you and make you happier."

"We still have some time, don't we?" Aaron smiled.

"She's great, but you are also unique."

Hearing this, Raven immediately smiled happily.

Aaron secretly shook his head.

A little girl is just a little girl, a couple of words and she's completely lost.

No wonder Charles only needed to offer some snacks to gain Raven's loyalty.

Raven was like a stray puppy. She didn't need much, just recognition and a home. Then she would give everything for you, even her life.

However, although Charles barely gave Raven a home, he never truly recognized her. This led to Erik taking advantage of the situation.

Yet, even though Erik didn't care about Raven at all, treating her as a valuable, disposable tool,

Raven was also willing to help Erik with murder and arson.

It would be a pity to give her to anyone else.

Aaron scanned his surroundings, found a hotel, and booked a luxury room. He temporarily settled Raven there.

Meanwhile, he headed straight for the World's Fair hosted by Stark Industries.

Upon arriving at the exposition, he saw that Peggy was dressed in a magnificent white luxury gown and wore a white hat.

When Aaron arrived, Peggy had just dismissed a soldier.

Peggy saw Aaron approaching, and with a brilliant smile on her face, she actively went to greet him.

Nearby, the burly man Peggy had just dismissed was standing with a thin, short man, watching Peggy and Aaron heading towards each other.

Bucky shrugged. "Steve, it's not that I don't want to help you, but this rose already has an owner."

"And..."

Bucky looked at Aaron, who was extraordinary and attracted the attention of all the ladies as soon as he appeared.

He said against his conscience, "In terms of looks, he's just a tiny bit worse than me."

"And he's very strong."

Even a pig could tell that Aaron was no ordinary person. The natural confidence he exuded was unique.

Aaron smiled and, amidst many jealous gazes, picked the most beautiful flower.

However, no matter how unwilling they were, they had to admit that Aaron and Peggy together truly looked like a golden boy and girl.

As if made for each other, an incredibly perfect match.

Steve looked at Peggy and Aaron, and lowered his head in disappointment.

"Bucky, you're right, maybe I should consider the serious matter at hand. This time, I must join the army."

Bucky glanced at him. "Don't worry, there are still three and a half million flowers in New York, one of them will surely belong to you."

Steve shrugged noncommittally.

He looked up at Aaron, his eyes full of envy.

Aaron didn't notice Steve, and even if he did, he wouldn't care.

Right in front of Steve, he embraced Peggy. Then, under the jealous gazes of both women and men, Aaron kissed her.

And Steve just stood there watching. That day, he stood like a nobody.

Tony's father, Howard Stark, was on stage showcasing his flying car.

Aaron, meanwhile, was embracing Peggy, being affectionate.

Steve watched from the side, feeling like something was slipping away from him.

Around the few of them, a group of blonde, busty women fluttered.

Although Aaron was already taken, it didn't stop them from crowding around to feast their eyes.

Peggy saw this and couldn't help but laugh. "Three and a half million flowers for you to pick, aren't you tempted?"

"At this moment, you are the most beautiful flower."

Aaron's answer made Peggy quite excited. She subconsciously hugged Aaron even tighter.

Bucky's lips twitched. As an experienced ladies' man, he understood Aaron's underlying meaning perfectly.

Their eyes met.

They were both the same kind of person.

Poor Steve... your love rival is such a formidable character.

Let alone Steve, even he himself had no chance of winning.

Just with that face, Aaron could thrive in the U.S. and enjoy a life of pleasure.
