By the time Gianna got to the door of Noah's apartment, she was beginning to reconsider her decision of spending the rest of the day with him, her steps slowing just a fraction as her hand hovered near the bell.
She didn't know if it was because of all the things she had learnt today—the uncomfortable residue it had left on her skin like something she couldn't quite wash off—or because of the possibility that the Beckett family as a whole was a mystery.
She would have loved to do the spending at her mother's bedside, to sit there and watch her breathe, to convince herself over and over again that she was truly alive.
But the doctors had informed her that they needed a day or two with the latter, to recalibrate her situation, before they could allow her to have visitors.
And she couldn't return to the Thorne's mansion, not yet. There was nothing to do there.
